AIM: To observe the clinical effects of moisturizing eye decoction combined with artificial tears in the treatment of ophthalmoxerosis.METHODS: A randomized controlled clinical research method was employed.One hundred-sixty patients diagnosed with ophthalmoxerosis were equally divided into a treatment group and a control group.In the treatment group,patients were given one dose per day of the moisturizing eye decoction as well as artificial tear drops three times a day.The patients in the control group were treated with artificial tears drops three times a day.The course of treatment was 3mo.Dry-eye symptoms,tear break-up time(BUT) by the slit lamp,the time of tear secretion (Schirmers Ⅰ test),corneal fluorescein staining (FL),and curative effects were observed before treatment as well as in the first and third months after treatment.RESULTS: There were no significant differences between the two groups in terms of BUT,SⅠt,and FL before treatment (P>0.05).After treatment in the first and the third months,the BUT,SⅠt,FL,and curative effects were significantly different between the two groups (P<0.05).CONCLUSION: Moisturizing eye decoction combined with artificial tears in the treatment of ophthalmoxerosis can improve efficacy.

Objective To explore the oxidative stress pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease(PD) induced by paraquat in substantia nigra of mice. Methods The model of PD was established by oral administration of paraquat to mice.The spectrophotometry was used to determine the activities of superoxide dismutase(SOD) and glutathione peroxidase(GSH-PX) and the content of malondialdehyde(MDA) in substantia nigra.At the same time,number of tyrosine hydroxylase(TH) positive neurons in substantia nigra of mice was estimated by immunohistochemistry. Objective To investigate the diagnostic value of fine needle aspiration biopsy for children with thyroid nodules.Methods Eleven children with thyroid nodule were examined by fine needle aspiration biopsy.The cytologic features of thyoid nodules were observed by the light microscope.The pathological sections of thyroid nodules were acquired and compared with fine needle aspiration biopsy.Results Eleven cases were diagnosed by fine needle aspiration biopsy including nodule goiter 4 cases,papillary thyroid carcinoma 2 cases,follicular adenoma 2 cases,medullary carcinima 1 cases,Hashimoto′s thyroiditis 1 case and cyst 1 case.Compared with pathological section,10 cases were diagnosed correctly and one was misdiagnosis.Conclusion Fine needle aspiration biopsy is a valuable methods to the diagnosis of children with thyroid nodules.

Objectives To analyze the clinical and pathological characteristics of gastric submucosal tumors (GSMTs), and evaluate the safety and efficacy of endoscopic treatment for GSMTs. Methods 61 patients with GSMTs were selected from June 2014 to September 2012 by endoscopy and ultrasonography;they were all treated by endoscopic therapy; pathological examination was took in all removed tumors, the tumors which could be the gastric stromal tumor were furtherly examined by molecular biology technique of immunohistochemistry. Result In 61 cas-es, 39 cases are female patients, accounting for 63.93%;the tumors located at the stomach fund accounted for 52.46%(32/61), at the gastric corpus for 21.31%(13/61), at the gastric antrum for 11.48 %(7/61), at cardia for 14.75%(9/61); 10 cases were treated by Endoscopic submucosal dissection, 21 by endoscopic submucosal excavation, 27 by Endoscopic full-thickness resection, 3 by Submucosal tunnelling endoscopic resection; in all 61 cases, 2 were changed to laparoscopic treatment because one tumor was too big and broke the Serous and another was located at mucus Lake of gastric fund, 1 occurred postoperative bleeding and was treated by laparoscopy successfully, 1 oc-curred postoperative perforation and was treated by endoscopy successfully; after pathological and immunohisto-chemical analysis, 34 tumors were identified as gastric stromal tumor and all of them in risk classification were at very low risk, 11 were leiomyoma, 5 were lipoma, 3 were heterotopic pancreas, 5 were calcifying fibrous pseudotu-mor, 2 were inflammatory fibroid polyps, and 1 was angiomatous proliferation; gastric stromal tumor at gastric fundus account for 73.53 % (25/34), at gastric corpus for 11.76 % (4/34), at gastric antrum for 5.88 % (2/34) and at cardia for 8.82 %(3/34). Conclusion Most GSMTs are found in female and commonly lack of specific clinical symptoms;GMSTs are commonly located at gastric fund and most of them are gastric stromal tumors, vast majority of gastric stromal tumors in the risk classification are at very low risk;the endoscopic resection is a mini-invasive, safe and ef-fective treatment for GSMTs.

Fluorescent staining method is a sensitive cytochemical staining method, it can reflect minimal changes of biochemical components of cells. The 7690-Xu fluorescent staining solution prepared with thioflavine can show the heterogeneo- us fluorescence of cells in different stages of differentiation. The younger cells with low degree of differentiation show blue fluorescence, the lower the degree the deeper the color. Along with the differentiation of cells, the blue color of fluorescence deflects to the red color of spectrum gradually, the blue color of fluorescence of cytoplasm changes gradually to bluish, bluish-green, and finally yellow color. The blue color of fluorescence of nucleus changes through greyish- blue to orangeyellow or orange-red.The cytoplasm of cells in various organs with high degree of differentiation appears yellow, and the nucleus orange-yellow or orange-red in color.

With more and more attention and investment on acupuncture scientific researches, considerable outcomes and achievements has been acquired, but the shortcoming of low transformation rate of acupuncture research achievements is gradually exposed. Nowadays there is no related report on this problem, so based on achievement translational research in other areas and practical situation of acupuncture, the existing problems and solutions are analyzed. As a result, the existing problems include (1) the research content is mainly basic research and clinical research but less acupuncture device research, leading to limited transformation efficiency; (2) the evaluation system and transformation pattern are still needed to be perfect. The solutions are (1) to properly evaluate the research achievements of acupuncture, (2) to advocate the concept and method of translational medicine, (3) to reform the policy and system, and (4) to establish valid platforms covering research, outcomes and transformation.

Objective To investigate and analyze the adverse effect(AE) of methotrexate(MTX)in rheumatoid arthritis(RA).MethodsThree hundred and twenty-five RA patients were investigated with a questionnaire in clinical service of department of Rheumatology and Immunology, Peking University People's Hospital. SPSS 11.5 software was used for statistical analysis. Results① The total prevalence of AE was 34.2％. Among these, gastrointestinal AE were the most common, others included elevated liver enzymes,leucocytopenia,alopecia and dental ulcer. The incidence of drug withdrawal of MTX was 13.2％, elevated liver enzymes was the most common reason of withdrawal, other reasons were gastrointestinal AE, leucocytopenia,dental ulcer and alopecia. The gastrointestinal AE and dental ulcer occurred within one week after initiating the medication in average, while elevated liver enzymes and leucocytopenia usually occurred at about 1～2 months after the medication. ②The incidence of AE increased with the dosage. ③ Folic acid could significantly decrease the total incidence of AE(P＜0.05). The incidence of gastrointestinal AE, elevated liver enzymes,leucocytopenia and dental ulcer couldbe reduced by folic acid supplementation(P＜0.05).Conclusion The AE of MTX in RA treatment are common, many of which are slight and could be improved by reducing the dosage or symptomatic treatment. The AEs of MTX can be improved by folic acid supplement treatment.

Two hundred and four patients with diabetic nephropathy and depressive disorder were randomly assigned to the control group (40 cases), St.John's Wort extract (SWE) group(40 cases) ,SWE +psychotherapy group ( 40 cases), SWE + physicotherapy group ( 40 cases ) and SWE + psychotherapy +physicotherapy group (44 cases), all patients were treated for 12 weeks.The therapeutic effects were evaluated with Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression-17 (HAMD-17).The percentage reduction in HAMD scores in SWE + psychotherapy + physicotherapy group was the highest ( 86% ), and those for SWE, SWE +psychotherapy, SWE + physicotherapy and control groups were 47%, 55%, 60% and 13%, respectively (x2 =47.331, P =0.000).After 12 weeks of treatment, glycosylated hemoglobin(HbA1c) and urinary albumin excretion rate (UAER) were reduced in all 4 treatment groups compared with the control group.The levels of HbA1 c and UAER in SWE + psychotherapy + physicotherapy group were significantly lower than those in others ( F = 15.754,74.025, all P = 0.000).St.John' s Wort extract with psychotherapy and physicotherapy can efficiently improve the depressive disorder in type 2 diabetic patients with nephropathy, as well as control blood glucose and reduce UAER of patients.
