Objective To study the clinical importance of TCM used in solidified therapy of colorectal cancer after radical resection. Method Prospective cohort study was applied to the trial, 84 cases in Xiyuan Hospital were selected to compare with 78 cases in western medicine hospital in the same time. The rates of relapse-metastasis and disease free survival of two groups were observed. Nine possible factors influencing disease-free survival were selected to analyze with COX regression model. Results 1-year, 2-year and 3-year relapse-metastasis rate of the teatment group were 0, 4.08% and 20% respectively, those were 5.12%, 22.91% and 36.11% in the control group. 1-year, 2-year and 3-year disease-free survival rate of teatment group were 100%, 95.91% and 80%, those were 94.87%, 77.08% and 63.88% in the control group. The main prognostic factors were lymph nodes metastasis and therapy. Conclusion TCM used in postoperative colorectal cancer could prevent relapse and metastasis.

Objective To make a systematical review of the efficacy and safety of endoscopic variceal ligation versus endoscopic variceal sclerotherapy for treatment of esophageal variceal bleeding. Methods We electronically searched databases including PubMed, Web of Science, The Cochrane Library (Issue 2, 2016), CNKI, WanFang Data and from Jan., 1980, to Mar., 2015, collected randomized controlled trials (RCTs) about EVL versus EVS for the patients of esophageal variceal bleeding. Then, meta-analysis was performed using RevMan 5.3 software. Results A total of 24 studies including 2020 patients were included. The results of meta-analysis showed that, there were no signiifcant differences in the variceal eradication rate (RR=1.04, 95%CI 0.99 to 1.09, P=0.090) between the EVL group and the EVS group; Compared with the EVS group, the EVL group could significantly reduce the rate of variceal rebleeding (RR=0.69, 95%CI 0.59 to 0.81, P=0.000), the rate of mortality (RR=0.76, 95%CI 0.63 to 0.90, P=0.002) and the rate of complication (RR=0.41, 95%CI 0.26 to 0.63, P=0.000), but the rate of variceal recurrent rate of EVS group was lower than that of the EVL group (RR=1.67, 95%CI 1.40 to 2.01,P=0.000). Conclusion Current evidence shows that, the variceal eradication rate between EVL and EVS is similar, but the EVL has less incidence of variceal rebleeding and mortality and complication.

Limb-shaking transient ischemic attack (TIA), a rare manifestation, is commonly caused by severe stenosis or occlusion of an extracranial internal carotid artery. Such patients are usually treated with surgical revascularization or anti-platelet therapy. We present a 56-year-old woman with 6 months’ episodic attacks starting with mouth skewed to the right and a sensation of ‘weakness’ involving predominantly her left arm, and at times, also involved the left leg. This was immediately followed by rhythmic jerky movements of the left arm and at times, also involved the left leg. Magnetic resonance angiography revealed severe stenosis of M1 segment of the right middle cerebral artery. The patient’s symptoms were signifi cantly improved by treatment with anti-platelet drugs and nimodipine.

Objective To investigate the dependability between ultrasonic appearances of different degree of acute testicular hemodynamic disorder and contralateral testicular damage.Methods Thirty two white rabbits were randomly divided into 4 groups.Group A-C were subjected to testicular ischemia and color Doppler sonography were continuoully performed in each case.The testes were reperfused when the ultrasonic appearances were as follows:homogeneous appearance with reducing of blood perfusion(group A),increased echogenicity and heterogeneity with little blood perfusion(group B).inhomogeneous appearance with small pieces of low echogenic areas and no blood perfusion(group C).Group D was the control group.Histologic structure changes of contralateral testes were observed after reperfusion for a month.The contralateral testes in all the cases underwent contrast-enhanced ultrasonography(CEUS)before reperfusion of unilateral testes.Results CEUS time-intensity curve of contralateral testes showed no statistical significance between the four groups(P＞0.05).Focal and mild pathological and ultrastructural changes were observed in contralateral testes in group A-C.But Johnsen score showed no statistical significance between the control group and group A-C(P＞0.05).The total number of appotosis cells per 100 seminiferous tubules in group B(38.75±8.88)were significantly more than the control group(18.63±3.81)as well as group A(20.50±6.12)and group C(18.00±4.47)(P＜0.001),but there were no statistical significances between group A,group C and the control group(P＞0.05).Conclusions Ultrasonic appearances of acute testicular hemodynamic disorder are help for the prediction of contralateral testicular damage.As blood flow in contralateral testes were unaffected after acute testicular hemodynamic disorder,it seems to have no role in contralateral testicular damage.

Background Retinal hemorrhage in newborns is a common clinical finding,and serious retinal henorrhage resulting in poor prognosis.The factors affecting retinal henorrhage in newborns are unelucidated now.Identifying these factors is helpful for the early prevention and treatment.Objective This study was to explore the underlying maternal,obstetric,and neonatal clinical factors for degree of retinal hemorrhages in healthy full-term newborns.Methods A cross-sectional study was performed in the approval of Ethic Committee of Zhongshan City People's Hospital.A total of 1 311 full-term infants,with gestational age more than 37 weeks and Apgar ≥9 scores were included in this study.Infants with severe systemic diseases or any other eye diseases were excluded.Ocular fundus of the infants were examined with Ret Cam Ⅲ within 4 days of birth and were independently identified by 2 eye doctors.The newborns of retinal hemorrhage were divided into grade Ⅰ,Ⅱ and Ⅲ groups based on Egge criteria,and the infants without retinal hemarrhage served as the normal control group.Maternal,obstetric,neonatal parameters and general factors were analyzed and compared among different groups,and the risk factors that affected the newborns retinal hemorrhage were analyzed by logistic regression analysis.Results Retinal hemorrhage was seen in 28.30％ infants (371/1 311),and 152,116 and 103 infants were identified as grade Ⅰ,Ⅱ and Ⅲ,with the percentage of 11.59％,8.85％ and 7.86％,respectively.Among the factors that examined in the study,cord around fetal neck was the risk factor of aggravation of degree of retinal hemorrhage in newborns (OR =1.308,95％ CI:1.011-1.693,P =0.041).In the mode of delivery,spontaneous vaginal delivery appeared to be the positive factor of the incidence of retinal hemorrhage (OR=0.134,95％ CI:0.132-0.137,P＜0.001),but cesarean section was not a main risk factor.Conclusions Spontaneous vaginal delivery and cord around fetal neck are the potential risk factors for the aggravation of degree of retinal hemorrhage in full-term infants.Accordingly,infants with these risk factors should be paid more attention to prevent the progression of retinal hemorrhage.

Objective To establish a gene diagnosis assay for spinal muscular atrophy(SMA) in children. Method Analysis of the survival motor neuron (SMN) gene in 19 SMA patients and in 21 normal controls were performed by using polymerase chain reaction - fragment length polymorphism (PCR - RFLP) method. Result Deletion of exon 7and 8 in SMNt gene were found in all 19 SMA patients, while no such changes were found in normal controls. Conclusion The SMNt gene exon 7 and 8 examine can be applied to SMA gene diagnosis, and the PCR- RFLP method have higher sensitivity and particularity to the SMA diagnosis.

Objective To investigate the use condition of Chinese decoction pieces in Beijing TCM Hospital of Capital Medical University. Methods Excel was used to analyze the data collected from the hospital, including transfer, storage, and income and expense data of decoction pieces from 2010 to 2013. Results Workload of transfer of Chinese decoction pieces increased every year, and the staff were heavily loaded. Compared with western medicine and Chinese patent medicine, Chinese decoction pieces require more manpower. There is no compensation policy for all aspects of loss in Chinese patent medicine. Hospitals are responsible for relevant disposable consumable items. Conclusion The management of Chinese decoction pieces in our hospital is in an awkward situation, which calls for countermeasures as soon as possible.

Objective To investigate the differences of low frequency fluctuation (ALFF)in the resting state between short-term heroin and methamphetamine abusers after withdrawal.Methods Sixteen male short-term heroin abusers and fourteen male short-term methamphetamine abusers were performed the functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI).The differences of ALFF be-tween the two groups were performed with preprocessing softwares.Threshold was set to 0.05.Results Compared with metham-phetamine-dependent patients,heroin-dependent patients showed increased ALFF in the left side of the lingual gyrus and the left ton-sil of cerebellum and decreased ALFF in the left side of the brain stem,midbrain and the left side of the cerebellar vermis.Conclusion There are differences between the short-term heroin and methamphetamine abusers in the function of the brain,mainly involving the brain regions associating with cognition and affection.

Objective:To explore the role CD4+CD45RO+memory T cells in the pathogenesis of Hashimoto's thyroiditis (HT) by detecting the percentages of CD4+CD45RO+ memory T cells in peripheral blood mononuclear cells in peripheral blood of newly diagnosed HT patients. Methods:53HT patients and 43 matched healthy controls (HC) were included in this study. According to the thyroid functions,HT patients were divided into euthyroid subset(HT-A,n =15) ,subclinical hypothyroidism(HT-B,n=14) and overt hypothyroidism subset (HT-C,n=24). The percentages of CD4+CD45RO+memory T cells in PBMCs,as well as the level of serum IFN-γ and IL-17,and thyroid functions,and the titers of thyroid-specific autoantibodies (TPOAb,TgAb) were respectively detected by flow cytometry,ELISA,and ECLIA. Results:The percentages of CD4+CD45RO+ memory T cells in PBMCs,as well as the level of serum IFN-γ and IL-17,the titers of TPOAb,TgAb were all significantly higher than that in HC(P<0. 01). Bivariate correlation revealed that the percentages of CD4+CD45RO+ memory T cells positively correlated with the level of serum IFN-γ,TPOAb and TgAb(P<0. 01,P=0. 015,P<0. 01) in HT patients. Conclusion:The significant increase of CD4+CD45RO+memory T cells in peripheral blood of patients with HT suggested a role of CD4+CD45RO+ memory T cells in the pathogenesis of this disease.
