Melanin is a kind of biopolymer, composed of a complex quinine/indole-quinone derived mixture which is produced in melanocytes from tyrosine. More than 100 genes related to melanin deposition have been found in mouse. Slc24a5 (solute carrier family 24, member 5) is a novel gene first cloned in zebrafish. And it has been confirmed that the Slc24a5 is involved in controlling the melanin deposition in zebrafish. Here the full length of the chicken slc24a5 mRNA sequence, its expression profile and a discussion of its relationship to melanin deposition in chicken were reported. Chicken Slc254a5 has a CDS of 1 269bp, predicting a protein of 423 amino acids which is about 80 amino acids shorter than in human and mouse. It has 9 exons and 8 introns and spans more than 1lkb of genome sequence. The quantitative real-time PCR confirmed that the chicken Slc24a5 was highly expressed in the eye of White Leghorn and Beijing Fatty Chickens, and in the eye, skin and muscle of Silky. The relative expression in Silky eye is more than two times that of White Leghorn. The relative expression in Silky skin is about 70 times that of White Leghorn and about 15 times that of Beijing Fatty Chickens. The relative expression in Silky muscle is about 15 times that of White Leghorn and about 3 times that of Beijing Fatty Chickens. And the expression result is in accordance with the melanocyte and melanin deposition in these tissues.

Journal of Practical Stomatology 1995;0(04):-
97 cases of jaw bone fractures were treated with rigid internal fixation.16 cases had malocclusion postoperation. The etiology was analyzed and the prevention methods were proposed.Intermaxillary elastic traction or fixation and craniomaxillofacial fixation or craniomentum elastic traction were performed to treat the malocclusion.By this way,14 cases were cured.1 case was operated again to resume the normal occlusion,1 case received occlusal adjustment.Incomplete reduction, incorrect operative performance, deficiency of postoperative intermaxillary fixation and incorrect intermaxillary fixation were the main causes to malocclusion. So anatomic in time reduction, correct operative performance, intermaxillary fixation, application of craniomaxillofacial fixation or craniomentum elastic traction instead of intermaxillary fixation for some special cases are effective methods to correct postoperative malocclusion.

Objective To investigate the clinical characteristics, treatment effect,long-term follow up results, guanosine triphosphate (GTP) cyrclohydrolase Ⅰ (GCH Ⅰ)gene and tyrosine hydroxylase(TH) gene mutations in patients with dopa-responsive dystonia (DRD).Methods The clinical features of 3 families with 4 affected members were analyzed and all of 4 patients were screened for mutations of the GCH Ⅰ gene and TH gene with DNA sequences. Results Four patients were females, average age at onset was (15.3 ± 5.6) years (range:from 9 to 20 years). The initial symptoms were a gait disorder, stiffness or tremor of the lower limbs in all patients presented with diurnal fluctuation. As the increase of disease duration, bilateral hand tremor was found in three patients, systemic torsion was found in one patient and torticollis was found in one patient. All patients' symptoms were in complete remission after administration of low dose of levodopa.Four patients were followed up for 0.5 to 10.0 years, and all were still responsive to the levodopa treatment and effective dosage was decreased as the increase of the disease duration. No longterm side effects of levodopa had occurred after long-term treatment. One patient was found to have c.607G >A(p,Gly203Arg) heterogenetic mutation in GCH I gene.Molecular analysis revealed a compound heterozygous mutation in the TH gene (p.Y447Ter and p.V468M) in one patient. No point mutations in both genes were found in other patients. Conclusions DRD patients have dramatic and sustained response to levodopa and no long-term side effects of levodopa after long-term treatment. The detection of GCH Ⅰ and TH gene mutations is helpful in early diagnosis but the negative results could not exclude the diagnosis of DRD.

Objective Because of the major trauma from thoracotomy , postoperative pain may arouse patients'psychological and physiological stress response and hence affected the treatment outcome and functional recovery seriously .We retrospectively studied the correlation between the staging of pain and nursing interference to investigate the effect of nursing interference on the pain intensity after thoracic surgery . Methods Five hundred and eighty cases of patients surviving thoracotomy between December 2013 and March 2014 in Nanjing Jingling Hospital were reviewed .Correlations between comfortable nursing measures such as effective analgesia , postural care , catheter care , environmental interventions , psychological intervention and the standard assessment of pain were analysed according to postoperative pain stage . Results With comprehensive nursing interference , the highest pain score occurred in the first 24 hour (2.89 ±0.39).The score was reduced gradually to 2.25 ±0.90 in stage Ⅱ, 1.58 ±0.57 in stage Ⅲ and 1.06 ±0.24 in stage Ⅳrespectively . Conclusion Comprehensive nursing interference according to pain staging may relieve pain effectively after thoracotomy .

BACKGROUND: Diabetic morbidity can predict its progress tendency. National diabetic morbidity has been increased compared with previous level at present.OBJECTIVE: To compare the diabetic morbidity between populations with impaired glucose tolerance or normal blood glucose tolerance to analyze its correlative influencing factors.DESIGN: A cluster sampling survey in two communities of Liuzhou City Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region based on adults.SETTING: Department of endocrinology in a university hospital.PARTICIPANTS: Diabetic morbidity was investigated in 4 relative big unit communities of Liuzhou City between July and August 1994. The resident population of the communities was 11 886, which were all adults between 20 and 75 years old and lived in Liuzhou City for more than 5 years. Populations with either impaired glucose tolerance or normal blood glucose tolerance in 2 of the 4 unit communities were followed up in October 1999. Totally 9 230 individuals should be checked and 6 020 subjects were actually checked with the response rate of 65.22% (quite a few cases lost followed up due to unemployment and retirement, etc. ) . Inclusion criteria: Finally 5 539 subjects with complete data of two surveys entered into statistics. There were 5 237 normal individuals and 266 individuals with impaired glucose tolerance. And there were 3 177 males including 110 individuals with impaired glucose tolerance with an average age of(40 ± 12) years old, and 2 362 females including 156 individuals with impaired glucose tolerance with an average age of(41 ± 10) years old. Exclusion criterion: secondary diabetes.METHODS: Totally 5 539 subjects(including individuals with normal blood glucose or impaired glucose tolerance) who confirmed without diabetes in 1994 survey for diabetic morbidity in 2 unit communities of Liuzhou City Gugangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region received recheck in 1999 including blood glucose, body mass index(BMI), blood pressure and blood fat to analyze the impacts of each factor on diabetic morbidity.bidity among correlative risk factors.RESULTS: Totally 5 539 individuals were included into statistics. A totally of 46 of 5 237 normal individuals developed diabetes with the annual percent of conversion of 0.19%, while 50 of 226 individuals with impaired glucose tolerance developed diabetes with the annual percent of conversion of 3.84%, which had 20.9 times of correlative risk significantly higher than normal individuals(x2 = 1 063.1, P < 0. 000 1).CONCLUSION: The risk of diabetes is higher in individuals with impaired glucose tolerance than normal individuals. Age, BMI, hypertension, fasting blood glucose, blood glucose, and 1 hour blood glucose in Glucose tolerance test are risk factors of diabetic morbidity.

The genotypes of extended spectrum β-laetamases(ESBLs) and AmpC β-lactamases produced by Enterococcus gallinarum isolated from chloebia gouldiae were determined to elucidate the evolution mechanism of the resistant genes. The minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of 18 antibacterial drugs against the Enterococcus gallinarum were detected with two dilution method, and the ESBLs and AmpC β-lactamases from the bacterium were amplified by PCR using the primers of TEM,SHV,CTX-M,ACC,CIT,DHA,EBC,FOX and MOX,respectively. The PCR products were cloned and then the cloned fragments were sequenced to identify their genotypes and subtypes. The bacterium was proved to be a ESBL-producing and AmpC β-lactamase-producing bacterium, showing severe resistant to the other drugs, except the third and forth cephalosporins, carbopenems and fosfomycin.Compared with that of AJ847364 (TEM-116),the sequence of the TEM-type was characterized by two nucleotide mutations (512T→A and 695A→C),which led to two mutations of amino acids(17111e→Lys and 232Lys→Thr),showing that the detected TEM-type was a new genotype, the sequence of the AmpC β-lactamase was similar to that of EF078894 (ACT-like type)with a 97% homology. The genotype of ESBLs of Enterococcus gallinarum was a new TEM-type derived from the TEM-type ESBLs of klebstella pneumoniae isolated from the same avian. The genotype of AmpC lactamase was ACT-type,which probably concerned with β-1actam antibiotics used.
