1.3. 0-Tesla: opportunities and challenges.
Chinese Medical Sciences Journal 2006;21(4):205-208
With the development of magnetic resonance (MR) technology, the concern is focused on molecular and physiological imaging besides structural information. Ultra high field MR scanner shows great superiority. 3. 0-T MR scanners provide almost two-fold signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) compared with a standard 1. 5-T MR scanner. The higher baseline SNR can be converted into a variety of alternative benefits. There are still some other changes brought about by 3. 0-T, such as higher sensitivity to motion, susceptibility effect, more difference in resonant frequency among different metabolites, and so on. These features may be a double-edged sword in structural and functional imaging. But with the ceaseless progress of the technology and gains in experience, 3. 0-T systems will provide more information and show more advantages.

There was no serious adverse events in treatment process. ConclusionNateglinide treatment of newly diagnosed patients with type 2 diabetes could significantly improve the patient's inflammatory response state, and there was no serious adverse events in treatment process.

Objective To evaluate the toxicity of intravitreal injection of triamcinolone acetonide on the cornea, lens, ciliary body and retina in rabbit eyes. Methods Thirty-two gray rabbits were divided into four groups(n=8).The rabbits were intravitreally injected with buffered saline solution(control group),4 mg triamcinolone acetonide(group B),1.3 mg triamcinolone acetonide(group C) and vehicle(group D).Intraocular pressure, scotopic and photopic electroretinogram examinations were performed before injection and at different time points after injection.Histologic and ultrastructural changes were observed 1 week,1 month and 3 months after injection. Results Compared with the other groups, the intraocular pressure of group B was significantly increased on day 1,week 1 and week 2 after injection(P

Objective To investigate the healing mechanism of the rabbit's selerotomy sites undergoing the transconjunctival su- tureless vitrectomy(TSV),and to compare the wound healing effect of the different surgery procedures.Design Experimental study. Participants New Zealand white rabbits. Methods Thirty-two New Zealand white rabbits were divided into four groups:the core vitrec- tomy and fluid-air exchange (Group A),the core vitrectomy (Group B),the non-core vitrectomy and fluid-fir exchange (Group C) and the non-core vitrectomy(Group D).Intraocular pressure(IOP)was measured on the day preoperatively and the day 1,3,5,7,14 postopera- tively with Tonopen tonometers.Sclerotomy sites were investigated with the ultrasound biomicroscope(UBM)on the day 1,5 and 9 postoperatively, and the internal and the external diameter of the wound was estimated on the day 1 postoperatively. The pathological sections of the sclerotomy sites on the day 3,5 and 9 postoperatively were observed under the light microscope.Main Outcome Mea- sures IOP,the internal and external diameter of the wound. Results The IOP of Group A was obviously higher than the other groups on the day 1 postoperatively (P

Military Medical Sciences 2014;(2):138-140
According to the investigation about the current ability of military hospitals to cope with bioterrorism , we suggest that military hospitals improve the capability for bioterrorism response based on the research above by satisfying mission requirements , combining peacetime with wartime , carrying out crisis management , classifying response and cooperating with local sectors .

Objective To improve the diagnosis and management of parapharyngeal space(PPS)neoplasms. Methods Records of 85 patients with PPS neoplasms operated in 11 years were reviewed with regard to presenting signs and symptoms, histological characteristics, imaging technique, surgical approach and postoperative complica- tions. Results Benign rumors were found in 77 cases and malignant tumors were founded in 8 cases.Forty-one tu- mors originated from salivary glands;neurogenic tumors were found in 36 patients and 8 patients with tumors in oth- er organs. All were treated by surgical operation:the trans-eervical approach was used in 76 cases,tans-oral in 6 cases and the combined transoral-cervical approach in 3 cases. The complications after operation were facial nerve palsy(4 cases),hypoglossal nerve paralysis(2 cases)Horner syndrome(2 cases),vocal cord paralysis(2 cases),thyroid gland fistula(1 case),infects(1 case)and difficulty in breathing(1 case). Conclusion Tumors originated from salivary glands were the most common neoplasms in the primary parapharyngeal space neoplasms, and neurogenic tumors fol- lowed.High-resolution computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging was essential for diagnosis and presurgi- cal planning. The transcervical approach was the preferred procedure for PPS tumors.

Objective To assess the effect of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ (PPARγ) agonist on prostate epithelial cells in vitro. Methods The expression of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ(PPARγ) was studied by immunocytochemistry and immunofluorescence study. The RWPE-1 human prostate epithelial cell line was treated with PPARγ agonist rosiglitazone 100 μmol/L for 48 h.Analysis of apoptosis was performed by Caspase 3/7 activity assay.Mitochondria depolarization was measured by using the potential-sensitive color,JC-1.The expression of apoptosis-related proteins-Bax was investigated by immunohistochemistry. Results PPARγ mainly located in nucleus and perinucleus.RWPE-1 cell line treated with PPARγ agonist rosiglitazone showed higher Caspase 3/7 activity (10636±1032 RLU) than in control (5936±620 RLU),P<0.01 and significantly upregulated Bax level (8250±694 vs.6017±563)than in control group,P<0.01.In addition, mitochondrial membrane potential was depolarized in rosiglitazone treated cells. Conclusions PPARmay play important roles in the pathophysiology of BPH.The mechanism might be that PPARγ regulates cell apoptosis. It is suggested that the mitochondrial and Bax pathway might be involved in signaling PPARγ induced cell apoptosis.
