Objective:To investigate the protein expression levels of breast cancer metastasis suppressor 1 (BRMS1) and Con-nexin 43 (Cx43) in thyroid cancer and their correlation with clinicopathologic parameters. Methods:Immunohistochemistry Streptavi-din-Peroxidase method was used to detect the BRMS1 and Cx43 protein expression in 195 tissue samples, including 90 cases with thy-roid carcinoma, 45 cases with thyroid adenoma, 30 cases with nodular goiter, and 30 cases with normal thyroid glands. Results:The positive rates of BRMS1 and Cx43 expression was 56.7%(51/90) and 41.1%(37/90) in thyroid carcinoma, respectively, which are sig-nificantly lower than the rates in thyroid adenoma, nodular goiter, and normal thyroid gland tissues (P<0.001). Of the three pathological types of thyroid cancer, the positive expression rate of Cx43 was 61.9%in papillary carcinoma, 27.8%in medullary carcinoma, 27.3%in follicular carcinoma, and 12.5%in undifferentiated carcinoma. Statistical differences in the BRMS1 expression among papillary car-cinoma and the other pathological types were also noted. Unlike the patients without lymph node metastasis, the positive expression of BRMS1 and Cx43 proteins were both significantly low among patients suffering from nodal metastasis. Subgroup analysis shows that the positive expression of BRMS1 and Cx43 protein gradually decreased with TNM staging. In addition, a positive correlation was ob-served between the BRMS1 and Cx43 protein expression (r=0.494, P=0.032). Conclusion:The decreased expression of BRMS1 and Cx43 proteins is significantly correlated with the metastasis of thyroid cancer and malignant grade. The combined detection of the two proteins can be ideal biomarkers for judging the prognosis of thyroid carcinoma.

Objective To evaluate the inflammatory response in the airway of healthy rats following exposure to motor vehicle exhaust. Methods Sixty healthy SD rats(30 males and 30 females,aged 6 weeks) were randomly divided into 6 groups. The rats in the exposed groups were placed by the main traffic road and those in the control group were placed in the normal laboratory environment. The bronchoalveolar lavage fluid(BALF) was analyzed on the 14th,30th and 90th day of exposure .WBC,NO,TNF-?,and IL-8 in BALF of the rats in each group were tested. Results The NO content [(9.75?4.78) ?mol/L] in BALF of the rats in the group exposed for 30 days was obviously higher than that in the control group [(4.40?1.45) ?mol/L],but there was no any obvious difference between the two groups in terms of the content of TNF-? and IL-8 in BALF. Conclusion This study demonstrates that exposure to vehicle exhaust can induce inflammatory response in healthy rats,the on-the-spot experiment on animal exposure can be used to observe early respiratory tract inflammation and 30 days of exposure is the sensitive period for the change of the inflammatory indicators.

Objective To know the contamination situation of the centralized air conditioning-ventilating systems in hotels in Shenzhen City, Guangzhou province and to ensure the indoor air quality when the centralized air conditioning-ventilating systems were at working. Methods 22 hotels were selected to determine the total count of bacteria and fungi in internal surface of pipes and air blow, the dust volume of internal surfaces of pipes, inhalable particulate matter(PM10) in air blow, and Legionellae in cooling tower water. Results The eligibility percent of dust volume, the total number of bacteria and fungi in internal surface was 94.76 %, 95.71% and 91.90 % respectively,the eligibility percent of PM10, the total count of bacteria and fungi in air blow was 42.54%, 94.76% and 84.29% respectively, and the detected rate of Legionellae was 57.50%. Conclusion The pollution in some degrees has been observed in the centralized air conditioning-ventilating systems in hotels of Shenzhen City, so it is considered as the important measure to improve indoor air quality and ensure people health to strengthen management of centralized air conditioning-ventilating systems in the usage.

Objective:To understand the responsiveness of community health service institutions in Henan Province. Methods:This research collected information through questionnaire investigations. The object of the investigations is key informants familiar with community health service institutions. Various dimensions of responsiveness within Henan province community health service institutions are determined through a multiple-input pecking order graph. The fuzzy comprehen-sive evaluation method is used to evaluate the level of responsiveness. Responsiveness inequality index is used to measure the distribution of reactions. Results:A total of 431 valid key informants were surveyed. The various dimensions of the questionnaire of Cronbach alpha coefficient was greater than 0. 623;the total scale of the Cronbach alpha coefficient was 0. 850;the correlation coefficient of each dimension of test-retest reliability were greater than 0. 907. The levels of responsive-ness and distribution index were 8. 33 and 0. 2744, respectively;each dimension by order of importance:timely attention>dignity>infrastructure>communication>confidentiality >social support >selective >autonomy. Approximately 50% of key informants considered that vulnerable groups in community health service institutions were sometimes or often treated unfairly. Conclusion:Key informants considered the responsiveness level of overall higher community health service institu-tions in Henan Province was high, and the distribution of responsiveness was relative equilibrium. However, there is a large shortage of infrastructure, privacy protection, doctor-patient communication, etc.

AIM: To activate hepatic stellate cells (HSC) in vitro in precision-cut liver slices (PCLS) stimulated by acetaldehyde for studying and screening anti-fibrotic drugs. METHODS: PCLS were prepared by the vibratome, and incubated with 700 ?m?L~-1 acetaldehyde for 0, 2, 4 and 6 h. The medium and homogenate were retained to determine glutathione S-transferase (GST) activity, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) leakage and hydroxyproline (Hyp) content. Objective:To evaluate the prediction value of preoperative Fibrinogen(FIB) in combination with neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio(NLR)for the prognosis of operable pancreatic cancer patients.Methods:The clinical data of 124 patients who underwent radical resection for pancreatic cancer in our hospital from Jan 2010 to Dec 2018 were retrospectively analyzed.The patients were divided into three groups according the high and low NLR, FIB value which defined by the receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC). The clinicopathological data and overall median survival time were compared between the three groups.Results:Univarate analysis showed that age, tumor stage, NLR, FIB and F-NLR score were associated with the prognosis( P<0.05), while multivariate analysis showed that high F-NLR score was the independent prognostic factor. The median survival time of patients with F-NLR scores 0, 1 and 2 group was 30.6, 20.3 and 13.9 months( P<0.05). The prognosis of high F-NLR score was significantly worse than that of low F-NLR score( P<0.05). Conclusions:A high preoperative F-NLR score was a promising predictor for the prognosis of pancreatic cancer patients after radical resection.

Objective To determine the iodine content of common foods in different geographical areas (coastal city,coastal rural area,mountainous city and rural area) in Fujian Province and provide basic data for evaluation of dietary iodine intake.Methods In 2010,based on the types of food of the total diet study,one food sample(consumption rate is greater than 1％) was collected in coastal city(Taijiang),coastal rural area(Xiang'an),mountainous city (Sanyuan) and rural area(Mingxi).These foods including cereal,beans,potato,meat,eggs,milk,aquatic products,vegetables,fruits,sugar,beverages,liquor and seasoning,and so on 184 kinds of common foods.The iodine content of these food was tested by As (Ⅲ)-Ce4+ catalytic spectrophotometry.Results Among the 184 kinds of food tested,164 were not indicated food iodine content in the Chinese Food Composition Tables (2004).The iodine content of common food in Fujian Province in descending order were salt (30 000 μg/kg),aquatic products(341.4 μg/kg),eggs(255.9 μg/kg),dairy(106.7 μg/kg),meat(103.2 μg/kg),cereals (40.7 μg/kg),vegetables(30.7 μg/kg),beans(12.9 μg/kg),sugar(8.5 μg/kg),fruits(6.7 μg/kg),potatoes(2.4 μg/kg) and alcohol(2.1 μg/kg).The iodine content of kelp and laver was the highest in all the food,which was 314 780.1,176 956.5 μg/kg,respectively.The iodine content of food from animal(241.4 μg/kg) was much higher than that of the food from plant(25.4 μg/kg).The iodine content of common cereals,potatoes,beans,sea algae,meat,eggs and aquatic products was compared in the four areas,and the difference was not statistically significant (M =135.5,20.0,42.0,16.0,54.0,4.0,x2 =1.4,all P ＞ 0.05).The iodine content of vegetables and fruits was compared,and the difference was statistically significant (x2 =8.5,M =204.5,all P ＜ 0.05).Conclusion The iodine content of different foods is different.

Objective To investigate the clinical utility of dual-energy virtual non-contrast CT(VNCT)of dual source CT in the di-agnosis and differential diagnosis of solitary pulmonary nodule(SPN).Methods Thirty-six patients with suspected SPN underwent chest plain single energy CT and dual-phase contrast enhanced CT (DECT)(25 and 90 s).The images of dual energy were sent to a commercial workstation for VNC image generation.CT values of SPN on VNC and true non-contrast(TNC),as well as signal-to-noise ratio(SNR)and contrast-to-noise ratio(CNR)were compared.The accuracy of calcification detection was compared according to the diameter and density of the calcification.The TNC images were used as the reference.Results CT values,SNR and CNR of VNC had no statistical difference among TNC and VNC at 25 s and 90 s(P >0.05).DECT VNC(5mm slice)could accurate detected calci-fication(diameter>2 mm,CT value>1 50 HU)in SPN.The 2 mm slice performed significantly better than 5 mm slice VNC images. Conclusion The VNC could provide consistent diagnostic information with TNC.The thin slice DECT VNC images can be used in clinical practice to replace TNC without losing small calcification in SPN,which has potential to reduce the patient radiation dose.
