2. Advances in mechanisms of traditional Uygur medicine on inflammatory bowel disease
Chinese Traditional and Herbal Drugs 2017;48(11):2327-2334
Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a common gastrointestinal disease in which the etiology and pathogenesis are still unclear. Generally speaking, it is caused by environment, inheritance, and immune. The related factors include immune system, oxidative stress, microflora in gastrointestinal tract, NF-κB, NO, COX-2, LB4, and the correlation factors. There are many plants that are effective to inflammatory bowel disease in traditional Uygur medicine, such as Solanum nigrum, Quercus infectoria, and Punica granatum. For some of these plants, only one or two mechanisms of action have been found. Besides, some constituents of them are effective to anti-inflammatory bowel disease. This article reviewed the role of factors in IBD and the mechanism of anti-inflammatory bowel disease of traditional Uygur medicine.

α-thalassemia is a type of microcytic hypochromic anemia caused by variants of alpha-globin gene, and is one of the most common monogenic disorders in southern China. The population screening model based on hematologic phenotype has achieved great results in areas with high incidence of thalassemia. However, with the continuous decline of the cost of genetic testing and implementation of screening programs for thalassemia gene carriers, more variants in the alpha-globin gene have been discovered, which also brings great challenges to clinical genetic counseling. From the perspective of alpha-globin genetic analysis, this consensus has discussed the contents of pre- and post-test genetic counseling, with an aim to provide standardized guidance for clinicians.

Microbiology 1992;0(03):-
A HPLC method of analysis of Monascus citrinin was established. More than 30 strains of Monascus spp. were cultured in steamed rice at solid state or in MSG liquid medium composed of monosodium glutamate as sole nitrogen source and glucose as sole carbon to investigate their ability of producing citrinin. The results indicated that most of the Monascus strains are able to produce citrinin. MSG medium can be used as a specific culture medium to qualitatively identify if the strain is the potential citrinin producer. But to confirm whether the Monascus strains are potential citrinin producers, these strains should be cultured in several cultivation methods, as the culture states and culture conditions influence the citrinin production greatly.

San'ao Decoction (SD) and its analogous formulas derived in the following generations are common used prescriptions for treating pulmonary diseases with principal symptoms such as cough and asthma. They are usually compatible with Chinese herbs for facilitating Fei, dispelling wind, resolving phlegm and fluid retention. Material bases in these formulas are mainly derived from Chinese drugs, but dissolution contents of active components are changed and new components are produced after compatibility. By multilevel effect evaluation, these analogous formulas all have commonness in ventilating Fei and superiorities of evidence-based derivation. The effect pathway of commonness was involved in cell structure protection, anti-inflammation, antioxidant, and immunoregulation.

Background and purpose:TrkB,a neurotrophic tyrosine kinase receptor, serves as a potent and specific suppressor of anoikis of non-malignant epithelial cells, and induces high invasion capacity in these cells.TrkB over-expression has been associated with chemotherapy resistance and poor survival in neuroblastoma and some other highly aggressive cancers. However, the relationship of the expression of TrkB to anoikis resistance in ovarian cancer cells has rarely been reported in literature. This study investigated the expression and significance of anoikis- suppressor TrkB in OVCAR-3 ovarian cancer cells. Methods:The expression of TrkB and its ligand BDNF was evaluated in OVCAR-3 ovarian cancer cells under different culture conditions by RT-PCR and Western blot. Results: TrkB mRNA was overexpressed in multicellular spheroids(cell-spheroids,anchorage-independent culture,AIC)as compared to that in OVCAR-3 cells(adhesive-cells,adhesive culture,AC),(35.3?0.7)% versus(23.5?0.5)%;but BDNF mRNA expression was the opposite to the above situation,(41.4?0.6)% versus(32.24?0.7)%(P
