1. Research progress on Ganoderma lucidum polysaccharide in prevention and treatment of central nervous system diseases
Chinese Traditional and Herbal Drugs 2020;51(24):6391-6395
Ganoderma lucidum is a traditional folk common rare medicinal herb, which plays an important role in maintaining human health. Among them, G. lucidum polysaccharide is one of the main bioactive components of G. lucidum, which has various pharmacological effects such as anti-cancer, immunomodulatory, antibacterial, antioxidant, and scavenging free radicals. Due to the complex etiology and pathogenesis of central nervous system diseases, the clinical manifestations are diverse, and the individual response to treatment varies widely, which brings great challenges to clinical treatment. The characteristics and mechanism of the central neuroprotective effect of G. lucidum polysaccharide are reviewed in this paper from the aspects of Alzheimer's disease, anti-epileptic, modulating microglia inflammatory response, etc., in order to provide relevant evidence for its clinical application.

China Oncology 2000;0(06):-
Background and purpose:Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) is one of the most common malignancies in the world,It has a poor prognosis due to its rapid infiltrating growth and complicating liver cirrhosis.Surgical resection is considered the best curative option, the 5-year survival rate could reach 50%,especially in the patients with lesions less than 5 cm in diameter and good residual liver function. However curative surgery is feasible for only about 20% of patients.Transcatheter arterial chemoembolization(TACE) has been demonstrated that its short-term curative effect is better than the other nonsurgical treatments. However,it has not provided any survival benefit. Many studies have been done to improve the overall therapeutic effects of HCC with multi-modality approaches. The purpose of our trial was to evaluate the effects of TACE combined with 3-dimensional conformal radiation therapy(3-DCRT) for primary hepatic carcinoma.Methods:90 patients with primary hepatic carcinoma were randomly divided into two groups :45 were treated with 3-DCRT plus TACE and the others were treated with TACE alone. For TACE,80-120 mg cisplatin and 1 000 mg 5-Fluorouracil or 30 mg hydroxycamptothecine)were perfused into the hepatic arteries, then 50-100 mg adriamycin(or epirubicin) or 16 mg mitomycin C and iodized oil 10-30 ml were given to embolize the hepatic arteries, and followed by 1-2 mm gel form particles.TACE of 1-3 sessions was given to both groups. For the combined group,3-DCRT was given by 6MV X-ray.The patients with planned target volume(PTV) lesser than 512 cm~(3) received a total dose of 45-56 Gy,4.5-7 Gy per fraction, and the patients with PTV larger than 512 cm~(3) received a total dose of 45-56 Gy,2.5-4.5 Gy per fraction,5 times every week. Results:The response rates (CR+PR)of 3-DCRT plus TACE group and TACE alone group were 91.1% and 60%,respectively(?~(2)=11.79,P

Professor LI Zhi-dao's acupuncture technique at muscle belly and its clinical experiences for the treatment of arthralgia are introduced. From aspects of TCM, anatomical physiology and sports biomechanics, the theory basis of this technique is explained, while its method is elaborated in details from acupoint selection and manipulation combined with classic medical cases. The acupuncture technique at muscle belly is applied at the muscles which already have pathological changes, avoiding re-stimulation on the pain area. It provides new thinking methods and references for acupuncture to treat arthralgia.

OBJECTIVETo explore action mechanism of electroacupuncture (EA) at "Fenglong" (ST 40) for treatment of hyperlipidemia.
METHODSForty SPF-grade SD rats were randomly divided into a normal group (group A), a model group (group B), a model diet-control group (group C), a model + EA group (group D) and model diet-control + EA group (group E), 8 cases in each one. The rats in group A were fed with normal diet continuously while those in the rest 4 groups were fed with high-fat diet to establish hyperlipidemia model. Afterwards, the rats in group C and group E were fed with normal diet, while EA at "Fenglong" (ST 40) was applied in group D and group E, 30 min per time, once a day. After 28 days of treatment, macrophage was collected in each group. Oil red O-staining was applied to detect the formation of foam cells, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISE) was adopted to measure the contents of total cholesterol (TC) in macrophage and analyze the rate of cholesterol efflux.
RESULTSThe counts of positive cells of oil red O-staining and the contents of TC in the group B, group C and group D were significantly increased compared with those in the group A (all P < 0.01). The counts of positive cells and contents of TC in the group C, group D and group E were significantly clecreased compared with those in the group B (all P < 0.01), and the decline in group D was more obvious than that in the group C (all P < 0.01). Compared with group C and group D, the counts of positive cells and contents of TC in the group E was obviously decreased (all P < 0.01), which was not statistically different from group A (P > 0.05). In the meantime, compared with group C, the rate of cholesterol efflux in group D and group E was significantly increased (both P < 0.01), and the rise in group E was more obvious than that in the group D.
CONCLUSIONThe electroacupuncture at "Fenglong" (ST 40) could significantly prohibit the transformation of macrophage into foam cell and increase rate of cholesterol efflux in macrophage, which could prevent and reverse the formation of foam cell and play an essential role in treating hyperlipidemia and stopping it from developing into a further level.

To evaluate the value of silicone intubation and ring-fixed method in canalicular laceration.
●METHODS: A retrospective study of 36 cases with laceration of lacrimal canaliculus. For all the patients, microscope was used to find the broken ends of the lacrimal canaliculus, and then straight insertion was performed to the distant and near broken ends through the upper and lower lacrimal points, then passed the dacryocyst to insert nasolacrimal canal and ended up in inferior nasal meatus. Thus, clinical data about forming annular support to treat laceration of lacrimal canaliculus was presented here.
● RESULTS: All 36 patients with traumatic canalicular laceration were anastomosed successfully and all patients healed without infection. The surgery went well, intubation was smoothly, all patients were followed - up for another 6mo after the stent was removed. The accidental fall off of the stent was not observed during the follow - up. During the follow - up 10 - 18mo after extubation, when the stent was removed, 32 cases (88. 9%) recovered to normal lacrimal drainage function;4 cases ( 11. 1%) remained epiphora with obstructed lacrimal passage. All cases were no lower eyelid ectropion.
●CONCLUSlON: For the patients with inferior canalicular laceration, the silicone intubation and ring-fixed method is effective, low irritation and less complication.

Objective To investigate the clinical features, diagnosis and therapy of adrenal incidentalomas. Methods The data of 66 cases of adrenal incidentalomas were retrospectively analyzed. Results The accuracy rates of localization detected by B-Ultrasound,CT scan and MRI were 84.3%,100% and 100% respectively. The accuracy rates of qualitative diagnosis by B-Ultrasound, CT scan and MRI were 30.0%,75.5% and 79.2% respectively. There were 60 cases underwent operation and the postoperative pathological examination confirmed that there were 31 cases of adrenal cortical adenoma, 6 cases adrenal cyst, 5 myelolipoma, 5 pheochromocytoma, 3 adrenal cortical carcinoma, 3 metastatic carcinoma, 3 ganglioneuroma, 1 adrenal neurilemmoma, 1 adrenal hematoma, and 1 nodular hyperplasia of adrenal cortex. Conclusions Ultrasonography is the first choice of scanning adrenal incidentaloma. However the CT scan and MRI are satisfactory in localization of the tumour. The qualitative diagnosis of adrenal incidentaloma will depend on the diameter, imaging features of tumors, the age of patients, and endocrine examination.
