Objective To observe the effect of tilting table exercise and shengmaiyin on alpha 1 adrenogenic receptor (α1AR) in the superior mesenteric artery after spinal cord injury (SCI) in rabbits. Methods 46 rabbits were randomly divided into the sham group (n=6), SCI group (n=10), shenmaiyin group (n=10), exercise group (n=10) and combined treatment (shenmaiyin plus exercise) group (n=10). The rabbit model of SCI was established by complete transection of spinal cord at the T5 spinal segment. Tilting table exercise and shengmaiyin were applied to different groups for 28 days from 4 days after operation. The expression of α1aAR,α1bAR,α1dAR mRNA in the superior mesenteric artery was detected by RT-PCR at 31d after SCI.Results The mRNA expressions of α1aAR, α1bAR, α1dAR subtypes increased to different extent in rabbits of the shengmaiyin group, exercise group and combined treatment group compared with those of SCI group. Conclusion The role of tilting table exercise and shengmaiyin improving orthostatic hypotension after SCI in rabbits may be related to up-regulation of α1aAR, α1bAR, α1dAR mRNA in the superior mesenteric artery.

ObjectiveTo develop an experimental model of orthostatic hypotension (OH) after spinal cord injury (SCI) in rabbits and investigate the effect of tilting table exercise and Shengmaiyin on it. MethodsRabbit model of OH after SCI were induced by complete transection of spinal cord at the T5 spinal segment and raised to 60° head up tilt (HUT) on a tilting table. Tilting table exercise and Shengmaiyin were applied to different groups for 28 d from 4 days after operation. Systolic blood pressure (SBP) and pulse rate (PR) were observed with non-invasive sphygmobolometer of rabbit 3, 10, 17, 24, 31 d after the operation. Liquid chromatography with electrochemical detection(HPLC-ECD) was used to detect the concentrations of plasma norepinephrine (NE) and epinephrine(E) with horizontal position and HUT 60° on the 31st day. ResultsSBP with HUT 60° in rabbits of combined treatment group was significantly higher than that in rabbits of SCI group on the 24th day after operation, and the drop in SBP from horizontal position to HUT60° was significantly lower than that in rabbits of SCI group. SBP with HUT 60° in rabbits of exercise group and combined treatment group was significantly higher than that in rabbits of SCI group on the 31st day after operation. The drop in SBP from horizontal position to HUT 60° was significantly lower in rabbits of Shengmaiyin group, exercise group and combined treatment group than that in rabbits of SCI group on the 31st day after operation. The concentration of E and NE of SCI group, Shengmaiyin group, exercise group and combined treatment group was lower than that of sham group, but there was no significant difference among these groups. ConclusionThe treatment with tilting table exercise and Shengmaiyin can improve OH after SCI partially in rabbits without involving norepinephrine and epinephrine significantly. The period of treatment can be shorten when both therapies used together.

Breast-contour preservation(BCP)encompasses all strategies to preserve the contour of the breast following breast-conserving surgery (BCS) and immediate postmastectomy breast reconstruction (IBR). With the continuous advancement of breast surgery, postoperative outcomes and quality of life of breast cancer patients have been significantly improved. Previous studies reported on BCP as a new comprehensive parameter for evaluating outcomes of breast cancer treatment. Based on preoperative comprehensive evaluation of patients′ general condition, characteristic of breast tumor, and breast morphology, individualized surgical strategy is formulated to improve BCP for early-stage breast cancer and improve postoperative outcomes of patients. Combined with the morphological characteristics of Chinese women′s breasts, breast contour can be preserved not only by BCS and IBR, but also by nipple-areola complex-sparing mastectomy in some breast cancer patients, thereby reducing psychosomatic impact as a result of losing breast mound.

Objective To study the percentages of polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMN), mononuclear cells (MNC) and fibroblastic cells (FBC) in different post-traumatic intervals after skeletal muscle me-chanical injury in rats. Methods The rat model of skeletal muscle mechanical injury was established. The rats were divided into injured groups (6 h, 12 h, 1 d, 3 d, 7 d, 10 d and 14 d after injury ) and con-trol group. The percentages of PMN, MNC and FBC in different post-traumatic intervals after skeletal muscle mechanical injury were assessed with HE staining and image analysis. Results At post-injury 6-12 h, the percentages of PMN and MNC infiltration appeared in injured sites and that of PMN reached peak. At 1 d, the percentage of MNC infiltration appeared and reached peak, while that of PMN de-creased. At 3-7 d, the percentage of FBC gradually increased, while that of PMN and MNC decreased. At 10-14 d, the percentage of FBC reached peak. Conclusion The percentages of PMN, MNC and FBC in injured zones showed time-dependent changes, which might be used as reference index for determination of age of skeletal muscle injury.

Journal of Forensic Medicine 2014;30(6):431-433
OBJECTIVE:
To understand the assessment on the criminal responsibility of drug-induced mental disorders and judicial experts' opinions.
METHODS:
The judicial experts from institutes of forensic psychiatry in Shanghai were selected. They were asked to finish a self-made questionnaire of assessment on the criminal responsibility of drug-induced mental disorders by letters and visits.
RESULTS:
Most of experts knew the special regulation, "not suitable for evaluation" towards the criminal responsibility of drug-induced mental disorders of the guideline promulgated by Ministry of Justice. Before and after the guideline was issued, no expert made a no-responsibility opinion in such cases. After the guideline was issued, some experts made a full-responsibility or limited-responsibility opinion in such cases. There was a little disagreement among the experts in the case that the crime was unrelated with mental symptoms or the criminals used drugs even though he knew it could induced insanity. But there were still many obvious disagreements among experts in the case that crime was related to such symptoms and person was no ability to debate. Most experts agreed to settle the disagreements with improved legislative perfection.
CONCLUSION
Most experts are not strictly complying with the assessment guidelines during their practice, and there is still an obvious disagreement towards the criminal responsibility of drug-induced mental disorders.

Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2005;9(27):198-201
BACKGROUND: When the dynamic equilibrium between oxidation system and anti-oxidation system in the body is upset, the overly produced active oxygen-derived free radicals will attack the target organs, thus resulting in the damage to organs and big molecules, and then diseases. Total anti-oxidation capacity (T-AOC), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and nitric oxide synthase (NOS) activity are the majorindexes for the defense system of the body, and their status is closely related to diseases. OBJECTIVE:To explore the level of T-AOC, SOD and NOS in serum, and find out its relationship with lifestyle. DESIGN:Single sample investigation. SETTING:Department of Health Laboratory Technology, College of Public Health of Harbin Medical University. PARTICIPANTS:Totally 531 residents of Bin County aged 20 to 70years were recruited between September 2000 and May2001. MATERIALS:The reagents kits of T-AOC, SOD and NOS were manufactured by Nanjing Jiancheng Bio-engineering Institute. METHODS:The investigators surveyed the residents with the same questionnaire. Questionnaire was made and the investigators were trained in advance. The questionnaire was filled in item by item as required. Questionnaire items consisted of the general situation, financial status, dietary habit, hobby, status of health care, and mental factor. Finally 95 investigation indexes were completed. The activity of serum T-AOC, SOD and NOS of the 531 residents in Bin County was determined, respectively, with reagent kits produced by Nanjing Jiancheng Bio-engineering Institute. The lifestyle factors were analyzed by multivariate stepwise regression analysis, and informed consent was obtained from the participants. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURFS:① Serum T-AOC, SOD and NOS in the participants; ② lifestyle factors affecting T-AOC, SOD and NOS.RFSULTS:According to actual analysis, the 531 participants entered the results analysis. T-AOC was measured in 489 participants, SOD in 525participants, and NOS in 531 participants. ① Indexes of the participants:T-AOC of the males was obviously higher than that of the females [(20.01±7.21), (15.25±6.22) kU/L, P < 0.05]. SOD of the males was slightly lower than that of the females while NOS of the males was slightly higher than that of the females, but there was no significant difference. ②Multivariate stepwise regression analysis showed that risk factors related to T-AOC were gender difference (OR=2.188), educational level (OR=1.859),and the presence of rheumatism, respectively (OR =1.142). SOD-related risk factors were educational level (OR=1.584), years of spirit drinking (OR =1.048), presence of nephritis (OR=1.093), and irradiation (OR=1.770);frequency of tea drinking was a beneficial factor (OR=0.800). NOS-related risk factors were the average amount of cigarette smoking (OR=1.194) and the times of weekly spirit drinking (OR=1.368). However, the beneficial factor that affected serum NOS was the frequency of weekly mutton eating (OR=0.458) CONCLUSION:This experiment revealed that the ability to clean free radical in the 531 subjects was good and that it was better in males than in females. The increased educational level and presence of rheumatism can decrease T-AOC. Drinking, smoking and irradiation decrease SOD activity while the frequency of tea drinking and mutton eating are beneficial factors.

Diabetic nephropathy presents an increasing trend worldwide. It has been an attractive area to find novel targets for the treatment of diabetic nephropathy. SIRT1 (Sirtuin 1), a member of deacetylation enzymes, regulates cell senescence, metabolism, and apoptosis. In last ten years, lots of studies showed that SIRT1 exerts a protective effect in the progression of the diabetic nephropathy by promoting reconstruction of energy homeostasis, modulating cell redox state, resisting cell apoptosis, inhibiting inflammation and ameliorating renal fibrosis. SIRT1 has become a potential new target for the treatment of diabetic nephropathy.

Aim To observe the effects of liver cirrho-sis on the expression of transforming growth factor-β1 ( TGF-β1 ) and ColⅠin rat myocardium and interven-tion of erythropoietin ( EPO ) . Methods Thirty-six male Sprague-Dasley rats were randomly divided into three groups:control group, liver cirrhosis group and EPO group, then the cardic hemodynamic parameters in vivo and levels of serum lactate dehydrogenase ( LDH ) as well as creatine kinase isoenzyme ( CK-MB) were measured. With Masson′s trichrome stain, changes of collagen formation of myocardial tissue in different groups were observed. Also the mRNA ex-pressions of TGF-β1 and ColⅠin myocardium were de-tected by RT-PCR. Results In contrast to control group, rats in liver cirrhosis group showed a decline in systolic and diastolic function of left ventricule, rising myocardial enzyme, a distinct increase of cardiac colla-gen deposition, as well as an elevation of TGF-β1 and ColⅠmRNA expressions. In contrast to liver cirrhosis group, rats in EPO group demonstrated an improve-ment in systolic and diastolic function of left ventricule as well as in cardiac collagen deposition, and a de-crease in both myocardial enzyme and TGF-β1 and ColⅠmRNA expressions. Conclusion Liver cirrhosis can lead to the changes of myocardial structure and function in rats, and it can accelerate myocardial inter-stitial fibrosis; EPO can protect the myocardial injury in liver cirrhosis rats.
