Chinese Journal of Geriatrics 2017;36(2):224-228
Immunosenescence is a process characterized by alterations and progressive deterioration of the structure and function of the immune system.Manifestations of immunosenescence include damage to both innate and adaptive immunity, reduction of immune responses to antigen stimulation, quantitative and functional changes of immune cells and alterations of cytokine activities, all of which may result in attenuated responses to vaccines, enhanced chronic inflammatory reactions,an elevated risk of infections and an increased susceptibility to cancer among old individuals. In recent years,it has been increasingly recognized that oxidative stress plays a vital role in immunosenescence. This review is focused on the influences of oxidative stress on the structure, function and generation of immunecells and the major mechanisms underlying immunosenescence.

Objective To analyze the prevalence of the various hematological malignancies (HM) in Harbin. Methods Study data was collected from January 2010 to December 2011.All cases were diagnosed and classified on the basis of blood test, bone marrow puncture, histochemical staining and typing and classified by the French American British classification. The age and sex distribution of HM and its subtypes were analyzed. Results Of 2214 Chinese people diagnosed with HM,acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) (33.5 %) and myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) (29.9 %) were the most prevalent and of 742 AML,the most frequent subtypes were M3.With the growth of age,the rates of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and multiple myeloma (MM) were increased, but in acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL),this trend was reversed. The distribution of HM increased with age between 0-60 years old,in above 60 years old,the frequency of some chronic HM including CLL,chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (CMML),chronic neutrophilic leukemia (CNL) and MM were continued to rise, but other HM subtypes were decrease, lower than in 41-60 years old groups. This study also revealed that M0 and MPAL were more common in 0-20 years as well as ALL.For patients never drinking alcohol and drinking for at least 10 years maybe associated with acute leukemia [OR =1.53 (95 % CI 1.05-2.23)],while smoking wasn' t a substantial risk factor for acute and chronic leukemia (P =0.20,0.48).Conclusions The epidemiology of HM in Harbin indicates that AML is the most prevalent, followed by MDS.Prevalence of CLL and MM increases with the age in patients above 60 years old.Drinking for at least 10 years maybe associated with acute leukemia.

Objective: To investigate the vaccine potency of GM-CSF anchored B16 tumor cells. Methods: In this study, mGM-CSF was expressed on surface of B16 mice melanoma cells by GPI-modifying. C57BL/6 mice were inoculated with GM-CSF anchored cells and wide-type B16 cells to evaluate whether the GM-CSF anchored cells could elicit a protective and systemtic antitumor response. Results: GM-CSF anchored cells resulted in remarkable loss of tumorgenicity in syngenetic mice. The tumor occurrence rate of GM-CSF anchored B16 cells was 58. 8% on C57BL/6 mice with 1 ? 106 B16 cells/mice inoculated ( n = 12) and that of wide-type B16 cells was 100% , The C57BL/6 mice receiving inoculation with 5 ? 105GM-CSF anchored cells/mice never grew tumor. These mice were challenged with wide-type B16 cells, and only a minority of mice grew tumor after wide-type B16 cells inoculation. Conclusion:GM-CSF protein anchored cells could elicit a protective and systemtic antitumor responses.

Recepteur d′origine Nantais(RON),a tyrosine kinase receptor ,is a growth factor receptor belonging to the proto-oncogene met family and has been proved to display abnormal expres?sion in many types of tumors. The RON receptor is activated by binding to the ligand macrophage stim?ulating protein, overexpression of the receptor, variants of the proto-oncogene and by point mutations of the kinase region. The downstream transduction of RON by mitogen-activated protein kinases and phosphoinositide3-kinase signaling pathways can help regulate the proliferation, apoptosis, migration and invasion of tumor cells. A better understanding of the mechanisms and related signaling pathways of RON activation in tumor progress and development will provide more information for the RON-based target therapy.

Sailonggu, a traditional Chinese medicine is whole skeleton of Myospalax baileyi, which is a kind of animal of rodent from Qinghai-Tibet Plateau of China. Osteon Myospalacem Baileyiis the first category medicinal materials of China Food and Drug Administration. For better quality control, a method of the morphological identification of Osteon Myospalacem Baileyi was established by means of studying characteristics of the animal skeleton, it's microscopic characteristics of powder, and literatures comparison. The characteristics of Osteon Myospalacem Baileyi were observed and recorded in detail and marked by number, which could be used for identifying crude drug of Osteon Myospalacem Baileyi efficiently.

The study is aimed to distinguish morphological characteristics of Dalbergiae Lignum collected from crude drug's markets and establish a identification methods and the quality standard for Dalbergiae Lignum. The macroscopic and microscopic features of Dalbergiae Lignum from crude drug's market were observed, analyzed and compared according to Hongmu specification issued by the People's Republic of China in 2000, and by the characteristics recorded in domestic monograph of Mucai Shibie (wood identification). The redwood of Dalbergiae Lignum cut into small pieces as medicinal material are dry heart wood of mahogany (trees from Dalbergia sp.), which characteristics of the small pieces as crude drug are different. There are differences in macroscopic and microscopic features about texture of wood and color, odor, taste, transverse section, radial section, tangential section. The results can provide basis for identification, application and improment of the quality standard of Dalbergiae Lignum as medicinal material.
