OBJECTIVE To study the HBV-DNA level and its replication with only HBsAb positive for transplantation. METHODS Serial serum samples were studied with the quantitative determination of HBV-DNA by a quantitative PCR assay and determination of HBsAb by ELISA. RESULTS The positive rate of HBV-DNA was 8.4% in the patients with only HBsAb positive and that was 11.11% in the patients who had not been injected with vaccine;the level of HBV-DNA in 11 samples was less than 10~4 copies/ml and five samples showed the amount between 10~4-10~6 copies/ml.The positive rate of HBV-DNA was 8.4% in the patients with only HBsAb positive and that was 11.11% in the patients who had not been injected with vaccine;the level of HBV-DNA in 11 samples was less than 10~4 copies/ml and five samples showed the level between 10~4-10~6 copies/ml. CONCLUSIONS Patients with only HBsAb positive are still infective,which should be paid attention in transplantation.

Objective To evaluate the clinical effects of scaling and root planning combined with application of the emodin thermosensitive hydrogel on periodontitis. Methods Forty patients with chronic periodontitis with a total of eighty teeth were included in the study.For each patient after scaling and root planning,the teeth on one side were assigned as the test group and treated with the emodin thermosensitive hydrogel in the pocket once a week for four weeks.The teeth on the other side were assigned as the control group.All the clinical parameters were recorded at the baseline,the 6th week and 12th week after the treatment. Results At the baseline,there was no difference in the clinical parameters between the test group and the control group(P＞0.05).A statistically significant improvement of all clinical parameters was observed in both groups 6w later(t = 39.06、62.76、20.50、8.05、158.32、31.45、46.53、8.43、8.08、8.03)(P＜0.01＝,and all clinical parameters of the test group were better than those of the control group,the differences were statistically significant(t = 31.50、27.91、3.92、7.38、20.09)(P＜0.01＝. Conclusion The emodin thermosensitive hydrogel could effectively control the symptoms of periodontitis.

The case of long-term complicated infectious mass on the inner thigh root after transobturator urethral sling is rare. This paper reported a case, who underwent a surgery of the "trans-obturator mid-urethral slings" for stress urinary incontinence 9 years ago. A mass on the root of the right thigh was found 3 months ago, accompanied with low fever. About 1cm tape was exposed on the front wall of the right side of the vagina. The patient underwent resection of the mass on the root of the right thigh and partial removal of the tape under spinal anesthesia. After one year’ follow-up, there was no significant change in urinary control ability compared with that before the operation.

The culture of Magnetospirillum magneticum WM-1 depends on several control factors that have great effect on the magnetic cells concentration. Investigation into the optimal culture conditions needs a large number of experiments. So it is desirable to minimize the number of experiments and maximize the information gained from them. The orthogonal design of experiments and mathematical statistical method are considered as effective methods to optimize the culture condition of magnetotactic bacteria WM-1 for high magnetic cells concentration. The effects of the four factors, such as pH value of medium, oxygen concentration of gas phase in the serum bottle, C:C (mtartaric acid: msuccinic acid) ratio and NaNO3 concentration, are simultaneously investigated by only sixteen experiments through the orthogonal design L16(44) method. The optimal culture condition is obtained. At the optimal culture condition (pH 7.0, a oxygen concentration 4.0%, C: C (mtartaric acid: msuccinic acid) ratio 1:2 and NaNO3 100 mg l-1), the magnetic cells concentration is promoted to 6.5×107 cells ml-1, approximately 8.3% higher than that under the initial conditions. The pH value of medium is very important factor for magnetic cells concentration. It can be proved that the orthogonal design of experiment is of 90% confidence. The results from the hysteresis of WM-1 shows that Hc = 230 Oe, Ms = 0.9 emu/g dry wt. Cells,and Mr / Ms = 0.50.

Objective To evaluate the POSSUM scoring system as preoperative risk assessment approaches for lower extremity arteriosclerosis obliterans (LEASO).Methods A retrospective study was undertaken in 108 patients ( 120 limbs) diagnosed as long segment LEASO from January 2008 to October 2010,in which,67 patients (74 limbs) receiving percutaneous transluminal stent (PTS) treatment were included into PTS group,and 41 patients (46 limbs) undergoing femoral artery to popliteal artery bypass treatment into bypass group.Rutherford classification was used to evaluate degree of chronic ischemia for lower limb and ankle/brachial index (ABI) for the treatment results in these two groups.The score of POSSUM,physiological score and physiological score without age interference were calculated respectively to estimate the risks for operations in two groups.Results The chronic ischemia conditions for two groups were similar (P =0.543 ).Postoperative follow-up was done for 9 - 15 months,there were no difference between two groups for limb salvage ( P =0.556 ) and patency rate ( P =0.632 ).Risk evaluation for patients: POSSUM score for the PTS group (33 ± 7 ) was similar with that of bypass group ( 32 ± 6 ) ( P =0.369 ) ; Physiological score of POSSUM for PTS group ( 24 ± 7 ) was more than that of bypass group ( 22 ±7) (P =0.033) ; Physiological score without age interference in PTS group (22 ±6)was higher than that of bypass group ( 19 ± 6) (P =0.035).Condusious The physiological score of POSSUM could assess the health status of patients with LEASO,which is more useful for pre-vascular surgery evaluations.

Objectives To investigate the impact of ischemic preconditioning (IPC) on dynamics of homing of endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) after renal ischemia reperfusion injury (IR).Methods Sixty male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into three groups after right-side kidney nephrectomy:for sham-operated rats,lumbotomy without vascular clamping was performed; IR rats were clamped renal blood vessels for 40 minutes while IPC rats were pre-treated with 15 min ischemia and 10 min reperfusion.At 3,12,24 h,and 3 days after reperfusion,the pool of circulating,kidneys,lungs and spleens were harvested.The extent of renal injury was assessed by biochemical and histological examination.The dynamics of homing of EPCs was observed by flow cytometry.Results The rats in IPC group exhibited significant improvements in renal function and morphology.Compared with IR group and sham group,the number of EPCs in blood was increased in the IPC group at 12 h and 24 h after reperfusion (P ＜ 0.05).The number of EPCs in kidney was increased at all times pointin the IPC group and IR group as compared to the sham group (P ＜ 0.05.In addition,EPCs number was increased in IPC group compared with the IR group at 12 h and 24 h [(11.36±0.66)％ vs (6.37±0.69)％,(6.31±0.70)％ vs (4.40±0.60)％,all P＜ 0.05].Compared with IR group and sham group,the number of EPCs in the lung was increased in the IPC groups at 12 h after reperfusion [(2.95±0.66)％ vs (1.78±0.59)％,(1.66±0.61)％,all P ＜ 0.05].The number of EPCs in spleen was increased in the IPC group at 72 h as compared with the IR group and sham group [(0.55±0.06)％ vs (0.34±0.07)％,(0.31±0.06)％,all P ＜ 0.05].Conclusions Endogenous EPCs may home to injured kidney after IPC.EPCs can also gather in the lungs and spleen.

Objective To investigate the angiographic manifestation of the proper esophageal artery (PEA),the hish risk factom for the presence of the anomalous PEA in hemoptysis and to evaluate the safety of transcatheter aaefial embolization(TAE) of the PEA using gelatin sponge(GS).Methods Selective esophageal arteriography WSS performed in forty-three patients with hemoptysis,including 15 cases of pulmonary tuberculosis,18 cases of bmnchiectasis,7 cases of posttuberculous bronchiectasis and three cases of lung cancer. One case experienced failure of bronchial arterial embolization. The angiographic manifestation of the PEAs Was studied.The complications of the procedure and clinical results were observed in the patients who underwent TAE using GS.Results Thirty-nine PEAs were catheterized selectively in 37 patients(86.0%).Eighteen anomalous PEAs(46.2%)were catheterized selectively in 17 patients (45.9%).The anomalous PEAs showed tortuosity,dilatation,hyperplasia,shunting with pulmonary artery and anastomosis with the bronchial artery.All lesions involved basal segment of inferior pulmonary lobar. Bronchiectasis Was the most frequent disease for PEA abnormality. No complications occurred and satisfactory curative effect Was achieved with TAE of the anomalous PEAs.Conclusions It is necessary to perform selective proper esophageal arteriography when the lesion involves basal segment of inferior pulmonary lobar in hemoptysis.Supplemental TAE of the anomalous PEA using GS is safe and valuable in the management of hemoptysis.

Laparoscopic surgery develops fast in China in recent years,and it is widely applied in different fields in the digestive surgery and satisfactory results are achieved.However,uniformed training,technique standard and quality control standard are missing in the education of laparoscopic surgery in China.Fundamentals of laparoscopic surgery (FLS) program is developed by the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons in 2004.It is composed of congenital assessment and manual skills assessment.Twelve surgeons from China have taken FLS examination in April of 2014,and they introduced the content,features of FLS examination,some thoughts and inspirations on the training of laparoscopic surgery in China in this article.

ObjectiveTo study the correlation of urinary iodine and thyroid function in elderly men in Harbin,and to provide the basis for formulation of health measures for the elderly.MethodsSeventy five cases of clinically healthy elderly men were enrolled for check-up of urinary iodine,thyroid function and B-ultrasound in Geriatric Ward the Forth Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University in 2010.The subjects of investigation were divided into iodine appropriate and iodine sufficient groups and thyroid function parameters and B-ultrasound results were compared.ResultsThe average age of the 75 cases of healthy elderly men was (79.07 ± 4.78) years old and the median of urinary iodine was 198.4 μg/L.There were 62.67％ (47/75) elderly males whose iodine nutritional status was appropriate,but there were still some individuals(6.67％,5/75) in the iodine excess state.The level of TSH of the iodine appropriate group [(1.91 ± 0.82)mU/L] was lower than that iodine sufficient group [(4.98 ±0.60)mU/L,t =12.58,P ＜ 0.05],while the level of FT3 of the iodine appropriate group[(4.71 ± 0.56)pmol/L]was higher than that iodine sufficient group[(3.31 ± 0.43)pmol/L,t =12.18,P ＜ 0.05].But the difference of FT4between the two groups [(14.91 ± 3.12),(14.06 ± 2.79)pmol/L] was not statistically significant (t =1.40,P ＞0.05].The thyroid volume of iodine sufficient group[(20.9 ± 6.1 )cm3] was higher than that iodine appropriate group [(17.9 ± 5.6)cm3,t =2.11,P ＜ 0.05].ConclusionsSufficient quantities of iodine intake may affect the thyroid of elderly people.Whether the quantity of iodine intake of the elderly population should be decreased or not need to be further studied.
