Objective To investigate the association between gene polymorphism of sortilinrelated receptor 1 (SORL1) and Alzheimer' s disease by detecting a series of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs).Methods The Snapshot method was used to genotypc 6 SNPs (SNP10,19,23,24,25,27) in SORL1 and the distributions of allele and genotype of the 6 SNPs were compared between AD patients and healthy control individuals. Results There were significant differences in the genotype distributions of SNP19,23,24 and 25 between AD patients and control group (all P<0.01).Subjects with TT genotype in SNP19 had significantly lower risk for AD and was protective for AD (OR=0.089,95%CI:0.011-0.718,P<0.01).The AT genotype in SNP23 (OR=3.826,95%CI:1.388~10.544,P<0.01),CT genotype in SNP24(OR=5.935,95%CI:1.774-19.853,P<0.01)and CT genotype in SNP25(OR=5.754,95%CI:2.007-16.496,P<0.01)had higher risks for AD.Conclusions SORL1 gene variants of SNP19,23,24 and 25 might be the important risk factors for late-onset AD.

Objective To determine the association between homocysteine and severity of large cerebral artery atherosclerosis. Methods Total 152 ischemic stroke patients were evaluated using transcranial Doppler(TCD),magnetic resonance angiography(MRA) or digital substraction angiography(DSA).Severity of cerebral artery atherosclerosis was scaled by number of stenosed or occluded artery. Results There were 83 patients in low level homocysteine group with mean Hcy level(15.31?3.08)?mol/L,while 69 patients in high level homocysteine group with mean Hcy(34.47?21.38)?mol/L.Number of abnormal intra-and extra-artery was 1.86?1.51 and 1.52?1.46 respectively. No significant difference was demonstrated in the number of abnormal artery between two groups. No correlation was noted between Hcy and number of abnormal artery. Conclusion There is no relationship between high homocysteine and severity of large cerebral artery atherosclerosis in ischemic stroke patients.Homocysteine might be the marker of the disease.

Objective This study is to investigate the inhibitory effect of Arsenic Trioxide ( As2O3 ) on salivary adenoid cystic carcinoma -2(ACC-2)cell xenografts and angiogenesis in nude mice .Methods The nude mice with ACC-2 cell xenografts were randomly distributed into four groups ,control normal saline ( NS) ,5-Fu group[5-Fu10 mg/(kg· d)],low-dose group[As2O32.5 mg/(kg· d)],and high-dose group[As2O3 5.0 mg/(kg· d)].0.2 mL NS or drugs were given by intraperitoneal injection for 10 days.Tumor volume and weight were measured ,the microstructure was observed by HE staining ,the expression of VEGF and MVD were detected by immunohistochemistry .Results The average tumor volume was significantly smaller and the average tumor weight was significantly lighter in As 2 O3 groups than in control groups ,especially in the high-dose group, the inhibitory rate were 52.17%and 56.04%(P<0.01).Compared with the control group, the MVD of treat-ment group was markedly decreased ,the pipe diameters were smaller in treatment group .The expression levels of VEGF and MVD were significantly lower in As 2 O3 groups than in control group , especially in the high -dose group. Conclusion As2O3 has obviously inhibitory effects on growth of ACC -2 cell xenografts and angiogenesis in nude mice by suppressing the expression of VEGF and MVD .The anticancer effect of As 2 O3 is related to the As2O3 concentration .

OBJECTIVETo discuss the efficacy of the myogenic elephant skin cream combining with VSD for treating severe bedsores.
METHODSTwenty-nine cases of III and IV degree bedsores were treated from June 2009 to June 2013. Among them, 15 cases were treated by myogenic elephant skin cream combined with VSD (VSD group) including 7 males and 8 females with an average age of (69.0±5.3) years old ranging from 17 to 96 years;other 14 cases were treated by the treatment of conventional dressing change (control group) including 6 males and 8 females with an average age of (71.0±4.2) years old ranging from 40 to 86 years. At 7, 14, 21, 28 d after treatments, specimens of wound two groups were respectively taken to examine immunohistochemical CD34 adopted SABC, the number of wild vascular cross were observed as capillary density value under high magnification microscope. It was used to assess the hyperplasia of granulation tissue of wound. The capillary density value and the visual wound observation were indicators for evaluation of clinical efficacy.
RESULTSSeventeen of 19 cases got complete data of specimens of wound at 7, 14, 21, 28 d,included 9 cases of VSD group,8 of control group. In the microscope view, the capillary density of VSD group was higher than that of control group significantly (P<0.05), it showed the application of VSD technology improved hyperplasia of granulation tissue much faster than conventional dressing change. In VSD group, 13 cases with 15 wounds healed, 2 cases with 3 wounds improved; in control group,3 cases with 3 wounds healed,7 cases with 9 wounds improved, 4 cases with 5 wounds were unhealed.
CONCLUSIONUsing the VSD technology with continuous high pressure suction to clean the drainage of wound and lacuna thoroughly can effectively control infection, promote the growth of granulation tissue, and then applying myogenic elephant skin cream to improve partial blood supply while prompting rapid growth of new granulation tissue and epithelial cell. The risk of this treatment is low,and the course of treatment is short, this provides a safe and effective method for treating bedsores.

10.No influence of increased frequency on fatigability of tetanic contraction in rat atrophic soleus.
Acta Physiologica Sinica 2005;57(5):653-658
The present study was performed to observe the time course and features of intermittent tetanic contractile function changes in soleus and extensor digitorum longus (EDL) muscles of tail-suspended rats. The optimal stimulating frequency, fatigability and time-dependent recovery after fatigue were measured in isolated muscle strips. The optimal stimulating frequency of soleus and EDL was 60 Hz and 120 Hz in control rats, respectively. It was not changed in 1-week unloaded soleus, but shifted to 80 Hz and 100 Hz in 2- and 4-week unloaded soleus, respectively. The maximal isometric tension (P(o)) of tetanic contraction at optimal stimulating frequency did not alter in 1- and 2-week unloaded soleus, but significantly decreased in 4-week unloaded soleus. After 5 min of fatigue, tetanic contractile tension of control soleus was decreased to 22.8% P(o), but significantly decreased to 10.4%, 10.0% and 11.6% P(o) in 1-, 2- and 4-week unloaded soleus, respectively. The tetanic contractile tension recovered to 98% P(o) in control soleus at the twentieth minute after fatigue, but only recovered to 79.0%, 83.6% and 78.5% P(o) in 1-, 2- and 4-week unloaded soleus. The optimal stimulating frequency, P(o), fatigability and time-dependent recovery of intermittent tetanic contraction were not altered in unloaded EDL compared with control. These results indicate that higher stimulating frequency can compensate the P(o) reduction in 1- and 2-week unloaded soleus, but not in 4-week unloaded soleus. The unloaded soleus, but not EDL, is more susceptible to fatigue than the synchronous controls. The unloaded soleus not only fatigues to a greater extent but also recovers significantly less than the control.
