Acta Physiologica Sinica 2002;54(4):329-332
Firing patterns of injured nerve fibers were recorded using the single-fiber firing recording technique. Under the same background firing pattern, three types of bursting were induced separately by EGTA, veratridine or high [Ca(2+)](o) in the same type of nerve fibers. The results suggest that different firing patterns are related to different stimuli, which means that each firing pattern carries corresponding neural information.

Acta Physiologica Sinica 2002;54(3):208-212
Veratridine, a blocker of inactive gate of sodium channel, was used to perfuse L5 dorsal root ganglion (DRG) topically. Afferent activities of type A single fiber from these DRGs were recorded. It was found that after a 10-min bath of veratridine (1.8-3 micromol/L), some of the primary silent DRG neurons were triggered by touch or pressure on the receptive fields or by electrical stimulation of the sciatic nerve to produce high-frequency firing, which was termed triggered oscillation presenting a U-type of interspike intervals (ISI) or other types of oscillations. The longer the intervals between stimulating pulses, the more stimulating pulses were needed to trigger the oscillation. The oscillation, triggered by electric stimuli with different duration or patterns, had no significant difference in their patterns. The duration of the inhibitory period after a triggered oscillation was generally 30-90 s. It was also observed that this kind of triggered oscillation was induced by afferent pulses of the same neurons. These results suggest that triggered oscillation, which may contribute to the fit of triggered pain, can be produced in primary sensory neurons after application of veratridine.

Acute Stanford type A aortic dissection with important branches involved is more complex, could lead to organ malperfusion syndrome even organ failure. The understanding of pathological anatomy, classification, staging, and the pathophysiological change has increasingly mature, but not complete. In addition, the treatment strategy for complex lesions is diversified, some questions may not reach consensus. Fully understanding of the anatomical and pathophysiology is very important for surgeons to choose reasonable treatment strategy. As the rapid development of the basic research, imaging techniques and the concept of surgery procedures, the manage technique of Stanfrod type A dissection and branch vessels at the same time is getting seriously, the related issues also need further discussions.

Chinese Medical Journal 2011;124(6):918-922
BACKGROUNDThe hepatopulmonary syndrome (HPS) is a severe vascular complication in lungs resulting in systemic hypoxemia in patients with cirrhosis and portal hypertension. The underlying structural change in HPS is intrapulmonary vasodilation, which can lead to impaired oxygenation of pulmonary venous blood. It has been demonstrated that the heme oxygenase-1/carbon monoxide (HO-1/CO) system plays an important role in the control of vascular tone. The aim of this study was to further investigate the role of HO-1 in the pathogenesis of HPS in animal model.
METHODSTotally 35 rats were divided into liver cirrhosis, zinc protoporphyrin IX (ZnPP), cobalt protoporphyrin (CoPP) and sham groups. Biliary cirrhosis was established in the first three groups by bile duct ligation. Rats in the ZnPP and CoPP groups received once intraperitoneal injection of ZnPP and CoPP, respectively, 24 hours before sample collection. Expression of HO-1 mRNA in lung was detected by reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction, while protein expression was determined by immunohistochemical analysis. Hematoxylin and eosin staining was performed to confirm the presence of liver cirrhosis and intrapulmonary vasodilation. Arterial blood gases, mean arterial pressure and portal vein pressure were also measured. Analysis of variance or Wilcoxon statistical methods were used to determine statistical significance.
RESULTSCompared with the sham group, the cirrhotic group demonstrated increased expression of pulmonary HO-1 mRNA and protein (P < 0.01). The level of arterial carboxyhemoglobin (COHb), alveolar-arterial oxygen gradient (A-aPO2), mean arterial pressure, portal vein pressure (P < 0.05, respectively), and intrapulmonary vasodilation were also significantly increased. Compared with the cirrhotic group, CoPP treatment increased pulmonary HO-1 mRNA and protein expression, the level of A-aPO2 (P < 0.05 respectively), COHb (P < 0.01), and intrapulmonary vasodilation, while ZnPP treatment decreased pulmonary HO-1 mRNA and protein expression, the level of COHb (P < 0.05 respectively), and intrapulmonary vasodilation, without obvious alteration of mean arterial pressure and portal vein pressure.
CONCLUSIONIncreased pulmonary HO-1 expression is an important contributor to the development of experimental HPS.

Chinese Journal of Contemporary Pediatrics 2008;10(1):21-24
OBJECTIVEThe causes of chronic diarrhea in children are complex. At present, food allergy is generally viewed as an important cause of this disorder, and IgG-mediated delayed allergy plays a major role in this process. This study aimed to explore the link between food specific IgG and chronic diarrhea in children, as well as the value of food allergens-specific IgG antibody detection in the management of this disorder.
METHODSEighty-two children with chronic diarrhea and 30 healthy controls were enrolled. Serum levels of specific IgG antibody to 14 kinds of food were detected using ELISA. The results were classified into four grades: Grade 0 (negative), Grade 1 (mild allergy), Grade 2 (moderate allergy) and Grade 3 (severe allergy). The patients received a diet treatment based on the results of food specific IgG antibody detection. Children with negative IgG antibody were allowed to continue their current diet. In children with Grade 1 allergy, the food responsible for the IgG antibody positive test was given only at an interval of four days. In children with Grade 2 or 3, the offending food was eliminated from the diet.
RESULTSOf the 82 children with chronic diarrhea, 79 (96.2%) had increased specific IgG levels for one or more of the 14 foods tested compared to 8 (26.7%) of the controls (P <0.01). The majority of patients showed increased specific IgG levels for milk (68.3%) and egg (62.2%). A low proportion of patients (2.4%) was allergic to chicken, and no patient was allergic to pork. The symptoms were improved in 65 patients (79.3%) after 1 week to 3 months of diet treatment.
CONCLUSIONSFood allergy is one of major causes of chronic childhood diarrhea. Food specific IgG antibody detection may assist in the dietary management of this disorder.

Chinese Journal of Radiology 2020;54(10):980-985
Objective:To explore the value of quantitative parameters of dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI(DCE-MRI) in evaluating the biological behavior of soft tissue tumors. Methods:The clinical data of 69 patients with soft tissue tumors confirmed by pathology in the Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University from January 2017 to December 2019 were analyzed retrospectively, including 29 benign tumors and 40 malignant tumors. All patients were examined by routine MRI and DCE-MRI before the operation. The DCE-MRI parameters including volume transfer constant (K trans), rate constant (K ep) and extracellular space volume fraction (V e) were acquired by post-processing software analysis. Microvessel density (MVD) and Ki-67 labeling index (Ki-67 LI) were detected using immunohistoche mical method. Spearman correlation test was used to analyze the correlation between DCE-MRI quantitative parameters and MVD and Ki-67 LI.Independent sample t-test or Mann-Whitney U test was used to compare the difference of parameters between benign and malignant group, and the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were performed to evaluate the diagnostic value. Results:There was positive correlation between K trans, K ep and MVD ( r=0.633, 0.727, P<0.0l), and positive correlation between K trans, K ep and Ki-67 LI ( r=0.557, 0.612, P<0.01). There was no correlation between V e and MVD, Ki-67 LI ( P>0.05). The K trans, K ep, MVD and Ki-67 LI in the malignant group were higher than those in the benign group, and the differences were significant ( P<0.05).There was no significant difference in V e value between malignant group and benign group. When K trans value of 0.169/min was used, the sensitivity, specificity and area under the ROC curve (AUC) for differentiating benign and malignant soft tissue tumors were 84.6%, 85.8% and 0.859, respectively. When K ep value of 0.367/min was used, the sensitivity, specificity and AUC were 92.3%, 83.3% and 0.846, respectively. Conclusion:The DCE-MRI quantitative parameters K trans and K ep can be used to evaluate the biological behavior of soft tissue tumors.
