Objective To investigate neural correlates of directed forgetting. Methods ERP was recorded from 12 healthy postgraduates while they performed a directed forgetting task based on the item-cueing method. During the study phase, each word was followed by a cue indicated that it need to be remembered, to be forgotten or just to be viewed. During the test phase, subjects were asked to make an old/new recognition response. One-way ANOVA of repeated-measurement and paired comparisons were carried out for the cue factor. Results Both of the accuracy and reaction time of the TBR group were significantly superior to those of the other two groups. No significant behavioral effect was found between the TBF group and the TBV group. In the study phase, statistical parametric mapping of ERP suggested the cue effects were presented in the frontal poles ( 200～300 ms ) and the parietal regions (300～400 ms) ,the left fronto-parietal and the right occipital region (450～700 ms). The difference between the TBF and the TBV was significant in the left parietal area (500～525 ms) and has the significant trend in the right frontal area ( 350～600 ms). In the retrieval phase, the old/new effects of ERP occurred in the left fro-nto-temporal (300～450 ms) for the TBF cue. Conclusions The TBF cue and the TBV cue have the equivalent behavioral performance. During the study period, the activation of the right frontal lobe and the left parietal suggests the active inhibition evoked by the TBF cue. And the TBR cue can enhance the rehearsal function of left hemisphere and improve the memory performance of words. The retrieval of the items of TBF is based on more familiarity and less recollection.

Objective To explore the relationship between big-five personality,and public mood of volunteers,and to find out the moderator effect of justice sensitivity.Methods A total of 1 022 volunteers were investigated.The Big-Five Inventory (BFI),Public Mood Scale (PMS),Justice Sensitivity Inventory (JSI) were applied to all subjects.Results The average score was (19.77±4.49) for extraversion,(26.69± 4.13) for agreeableness,(23.33±5.37) for conscientiousness,(12.49±4.91) for neuroticism,(24.95±5.44)for openness,(8.78±3.23) for positive public mood,(3.46±3.06) for negative public mood and correlated with (26.85± 10.55) for observer sensitivity.The extraversion,agreeableness,conscientiousness and openness were correlated with positive public mood(β=0.31,P＜0.01;β=0.25,P＜0.01;β=0.29,P＜0.01;β=0.26,P＜0.0 1),and negatively correlated with public mood (β=-0.14,P＜0.01;β=-0.29,P＜0.01;β=-0.20,P＜0.01;β=-0.08,P＜0.01).Neuroticism was negatively correlated with positive public mood (β=-0.27,P＜0.01),and positively correlated with negative public mood (β=0.31,P＜0.01).The interaction effect of agreeableness and observer sensitivity negatively correlated with positive public mood,negative public mood (β=-0.09,P＜0.01;β=-0.07,P＜0.05).The interaction effect of neuroticism and observer sensitivity was positively correlated with positive public mood (β=0.08,P＜0.01).Conclusion Observer sensitivity plays a regulative role between big-five personality and mental health,and can slow the negative impact of low agreeableness to positive public mood,strengthen the impact of low agreeableness to negative public mood,and slow the negative impact of high neuroticism to positive public mood.

Objective To analyse the encoding gene sequence of extended spectrum ? lactamase produced by Klebsiella pneumoniae E95 strain in Zhejiang Province and identify its ESBLs subtype. Methods The gene of ESBLs produced by E95 strain was amplified by PCR. The purified PCR product was cloned into pGEM Teasy vector and then sequenced by Sanger's dideoxy chain termination composition method. Results The encoded gene of ESBLs was identified as SHV by PCR. Its PCR product had 812 nucleotides. It had the same gene sequence as the gene encoding SHV 12 discovered in Swiss. Conclusions The ESBLs produced by Klebsiella pneumoniae E95 strain isolated from a patient in Zhejiang Province is SHV 12.

Objective To find out the sensitivity and s pecificity of intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) in identification of unstable atherosclerotic plaques. Methods Fourty-three patients diagnosed coronary heart disease, receiving coronary angiography and intravascular ultrasound examination,were divided into soft plaque and hard plaque group according to the echo reflectivity of atherosclerotic plaque by IVUS. Quantitative determination was performed between the two groups. Results The sensitivity of IVUS in detecting soft plaques from patients with acute coronary artery syndrome was 81.4 %, specificity 75.0 %, accuracy 79.1 %, positive predictive value 84.6 %. The lipid core areas and lipid to plaque ratio of soft plaques were significantly larger than those of hard plaques (P 0.05 ).Conclusions IVUS had higher sensitivity and specificity in detecting coronary vulnerable plaques in live bodies.

Aquaporin adipose (AQPap) is the physiological glycerol channel specific to adipocytes. By means of semiquantitive RT-PCR and Western blotting, this study showed that insulin was a negative regulator of AQPap expression, while high concentration of glucose could increase AQPap expression.

Objective To investigate the effects of desflurane and/or nitric oxide (NO) on the lung injury induced by ischemia-reperfusion ( I/R) during cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) in children with pulmonary hypertension secondary to congenital heart disease (CHD) .Methods Forty children with CHD and pulmonary hypertension (24 male, 16 female) aged 0.6-3.7 yrs weighing 7.1-11.9 kg undergoing cardiac surgery under CPB were randomly divided into 4 groups ( n = 10 each): group control; group DES; group NO and group DES + NO. The patients were premedicated with oral midazolam 0.5 mg?kg-1. Anesthesia was induced and maintained with fentanyl and vecuronium. Radial artery was cannulated for MAP monitoring and blood sampling. Pulmonary catheter was placed under direct vision after chest was opened. The patients received inhalation of desflurane (1-1.3 MAC) (group DES)/NO (10-20 ppm) (group NO) /DES + NO (group DES + NO) immediately after pulmonary catheterization until the start of CPB. MAP, PAP, peak airway pressure (Ppeak) and compliance of respiratory system (Crs) were recorded at 5 min after induction (T0 ), 5 min before CPB (T1 ), 5 min after start of CPB (T2) and at the end of surgery (T3) . Blood samples were taken at T0 and T3 for determination of methemoglobin (Met-Hb), soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (sICAM-1), XOD and MDA.Results The four groups were comparable with respect to age, M/F ratio, body weight, duration of CPB and type of operation performed. MAP was significantly decreased after inhalation of desflurane alone or desflurane + NO before CPB ( at T1) as compared to the baseline value at T0; while PAP was significantly decreased after inhalation of NO alone or NO+ desflurane before CPB (at T1) as compared to the baseline value. Ppeak was significantly lower while Crs was significantly higher at end of surgery (T3) in group NO and NO + desflurane than in control group. Blood sICAM-1 and MDA concentrations and XOD activity were significantly lower at the end of surgery (T3 ) in group DES, NO and DES + NO than in control group. Met-Hb was significantly increased at the end of surgery (T2) as compared to the baseline (T0) in group NO and DES + NO but was still within normal range. Conclusion Inhalation of desflurane and/or NO can ameliorate the lung injury during CPB in children with pulmonary hypertension secondary to CHD, in addition to inhibit the pulmonary hypertension.
