Chinese Journal of Radiological Medicine and Protection 2010;30(6):639-642
Objective To explore the neuroprotective effect of magnesium sulfate on radiation induced neural stem cell injury. Methods Brain tissue was obtained from new-born sprague-dawley rats within 24 hours, and the cerebral hemisphere was dissociated to culture the neural stem cells. After being identified by immunofluorescence method, the neural stem cells were randomly divided into 3 groups as blank control group, experimental control group and experimental group. The neural stem cells of experimental control group and experimental group were irradiated with 2 or 4 Gy of gamma rays. The proliferation and the cell cycle of neural stem cells were detected at different time-points ranging from 24 h,48 h, 72 h after irradiation with CCK-8 and FCM. Results Compared with the blank control group, the proliferation rate of experimental control group was significantly reduced ( t = 5. 33-8.44, P < 0. 05 ), and the G1 phase arrest of experimental control group was significantly enhanced ( t = 30. 60-71.22, P < 0. 05 ).Compared with the experimental control group, the proliferation of experimental group significantly increased excluding that of 24 h ( t = 2.45-4. 71, P < 0.05 ), the apoptosis rate of experimental group significantly decreasd (t = 6.73-41.12, P < 0.05 ), which was closer to the blank control group. Conclusion Magnesium sulfate can alleviate the injury of proliferation and decrease the cell apoptosis in the early stage after irradiation.
3.Studies of the Effects of Hydrogen Peroxide on the Ultrastructure and Permeability of Candida Albicans
Journal of Third Military Medical University 1983;0(03):-
The Effects of hydrogen peroxide(H2o2) on the ultrastructure, cellular pea-meability barrier and 3H-TdR-DNA leakage of C. albicans were studied. Damage of the cell, especially leakage of cytoplasm were found under transmission electron microscope. Morphological changes and small hole like structures were also found under scanning electron microscope. Radioactivity assay of the leakage of 3H-TdR-DNA leakage of C. albicans further suggested that the 3H-TdR-DNA leakage of C. albicans was directly due to the damage of cellular permeability barrier. Negative correlation (r=+0.8392--0.9915)between the extent of 3H-TdR-DNA leakage and the number of surviving colony-forming units was found. This indicated that the damage of cellular permeability barrier and leakage of DNA of C. albicans caused by H2o2 was one of the most importent causes of cell killing.
4.Updated diagnosis and management of chronic orchialgia.
National Journal of Andrology 2016;22(3):195-199
Chronic orchialgia (CO) is a common complaint in urology or andrology. Due to its complicated pathogenesis, the diagnosis and treatment of CO are quite challenging. Based on different etiologies, CO can be idiopathic or secondary. Idiopathic CO accounts for approximately 50% of the cases and is probably associated with Wallerian degeneration in the spermatic cord nerves and peripheral sensitization. Secondary CO can be attributed to direct causes and its treatment focuses on the pathologic condition identified. The main methods for the treatment of CO include conservative and surgical strategies, among which microsurgical spermatic cord denervation ( MSCD) is an effective and minimally invasive option, while orchiectomy is but the last alternative when no other means is left.

Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2006;10(2):187-189
BACKGROUND: L-arginine (L-Arg) is the precursor of endogenous nitric oxide (NO), which joins the pain regulation of peripheral myeloid level and above.OBJECTIVE: To study the role and mechanism of NO in nucleus raphe magnus (NRM) in pain regulation and electroacupuncture analgesia.DESIGN: A random control experiment on rats.SETTING: Physiology Department of Medical College of Xianning College.MATERIALS: The experiment was done during May 2002 to March 2003in the Physiology Department of Medical College of Xianning College. The 63 Wistar rats were randomized into 7 groups with 9 in each. ①. Five groups for the experiment of L-Arg dose-effect relationship: Normal saline group and L-Arg 1, 2, 4, 8 mmol groups. ②. Two groups for the experiment of relationship between L-Arg and electroacupuncture analgesia: Normal saline + electroacupuncture group and L-Arg + electroacupuncture group.METHODS: ①Experiment of L-Arg dose-effect relationship: Normal saline group was injected normal saline. L-Arg 1, 2, 4, 8 mmol groups were injected L-Arg 1, 2, 4, 8 mmol respectively. The volume was all 1.5 μL.Then, the hot water (50±0.5) ℃ was used to stimulate the tail once every 10 minutes to cause tail flick for testing the pain threshold. The observation was carried out continuously for 90 minutes. ②. Experiment of relationship between L-Arg and electroacupuncture analgesia: The two groups were injected normal saline and L-Arg 8 mmol respectively. The volume was all 1.5 μL. Ten minutes later, Zusanli (ST 36) of both posterior legs of rats were punctured with electric stimulation. The frequency was 4-16 Hz, and the intensity in an increasing order of 1, 2, 3V given 10 minutes of each. The electroacupuncture was totally 30 minutes, during which, testing the pain threshold 3 times. After needling, the pain threshold was still tested once every 10 minutes, till 90 minutes after injecting L-Arg.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Pain threshold at different time points.RESULTS: The 63 rats entered the result analysis. ① The pain threshold of L-Arg 1 mmol group at all time points was lower than that of the normal saline group, but without statistical significance (P > 0.05). The pain threshold of L-Arg 2, 4, 8 mmol groups was much lower than that of the normal saline group at all time points (P < 0.001), and the effect was lasting to 80 minutes after injecting L-Arg, and with the increase of L-Arg density, the amplitude of pain threshold lowering was increased. ② The pain threshold of L-Arg + electroacupuncture group was much lower than that of the normal saline + electroacupuncture group at the time points of 20-50 minutes (P < 0.01).CONCLUSION: ① The L-Arg injection to NRM can lower the pain threshold and there is a dose-dependent effect in it. ② The electroacupuncture can raise the pain threshold, and the L-Arg injection can weaken the effect of electroacupuncture analgesia. ③ NO in NRM joins in the pathological and physiological processes of pain and electroacupuncture analgesia. Its increase can lower the pain threshold greatly.
