Objective To investigate the clinical effect of 153 Sm-EDTMP treatment on pain palliation in the patients with bone metastasis of lung cancer, breast cancer or prostate cancer. Methods 166 patients with bone metastasis of cancers were intravenously injected 18.5～37 MBq/kg (0.5～1.0 mCi/kg ) body weight of 153 Sm-EDTMP, once a month or two months. Objective To investigate the radiographic characteristics of degenerative lumbar scoliosis (DLS) and its relationship to osteoporosis. Methods 229 cases (83 males, 146 females) of DLS from January 1998 to June 2005 were reviewed. The mean age was 56.8 years (ranged from 40 to 74 years). The Cobb angle and vertebral stability in coronal plane were measured in anteroposterior radiographs and the changes of lordosis in sagittal plane were observed in lateral radiographs. The bone mineral density(BMD) and T-Score of lumbar spine (L2-L4) were measured using Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry. Results The mean Cobb angle is 9.45??4.79?, 151 cases(66%) with the angle less than 10?, 60 cases (26%) with 10?-20?, and 18 cases (8%) with more than 20?. Right side scoliosis were found in 52% (120 cases), left side in 48% (109 cases). 159 cases (69%) companied with gradeⅠ(Nash-Moe) vertebra rotation, 54 cases (24%) with grade Ⅱ. And the vertebra rotation was most evident on scoliosis apex. There were 20 cases (9%) with more than 4 mm lateral translation between the lumbar vertebrae which were usually the apex vertebrae with the most degenerative changes. The physical lordosis decreased in most cases in which 16 cases (7%) developed lumbar or thoracolumbar kyphosis. And the kyphosis degree was not relevant to scoliosis Cobb angle. Objective To investigate the Ring Artifact Location Algorithm based on edge detection to eliminate the ring artifact.Methods The Sobel operator was used to extract the ring edge,and then an algorithm,which combined scan line searching with line fitting,was applied to determining the ring center and its size.Finally the linear interpolation algorithm was used to get rid of the ring artifact.Results This method was very effective to eliminate the ring artifact of both phantom and clinical images.Conclusion This algorithm is faster and more effective than the usual one and its speed and accuracy are improved.

Objective To explore the changes of serum leptin level in patients with diabetic microangiopathy.Methods A total of 90 subjects were assigned to three groups which included 30 healthy controls,30 diabetic patients without microangiopathy and 30 patients with diabetic microangiopathy.The studing groups were matched for sex and BMI.The level of serum leptin ,ⅣC,insulin and glucose of these patients were measured,and the correlation between serum leptin level and other indexes was analyzed.Results The level of serum leptin in controls,diabetic patients without microangiopathy and patients with diabetic microangiopathy were (7.20?2.11) ?g/L, (7.95?3.78)?g/L and (10.26?4.37)?g/L respectively .The patients with diabetic microangiopathy had higher serum leptin levels than in the diabetic patients without microangiopathy( t =2.18, P

Sixteen compounds including daphnoretin (1), isofraxidin (2), scopoletin (3), kaempferol (4), quercetin (5), guaijaverin (6), astragalin (7), quercetin-3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (8), naringenin-7-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (9), 5-O-methylapi- genin-7-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (10), methyl gallate (11), prionitiside A (12), (2S)-2,3-dihydroxypropyl-1,6,8-trihydroxy-3- methyl-9,10- dioxoanthracene-2-carboxylate (13), 3,3'-di-O-methyl ellagic acid (14), 3'-O-methyl-3,4-O,O-metheneellagic acid-4'-O-β-D- glucopyranoside (15) and 3,4-methylenedioxy-3'-O-methylellagic acid (16), were isolated from the 70% acetone extract of Euphorbia dracunculoides Lam. BACKGROUND:Drug treatment for senile dementia has unsatisfactory outcomes although to a certain extent it can reduce and delay the progression of Alzheimer’s disease. Stem cel transplantation is a new attempt for the treatment of senile dementia.
OBJECTIVE:To observe the effect of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cel transplantation on the behavior of senile dementia rats.
METHODS: Rat models of senile dementia were made in 20 Sprague-Dawley rats that were given continuous 60-day gavage of aluminium chloride solution. Then, model rats were randomized into model group treated with normal saline injection and experimental group treated with hippocampal injection of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cels, respectively. Another 10 rats undergoing normal feeding served as control group. Learning and memory ability of rats were tested by Morris water maze, and superoxide dismutase activity and malondialdehyde content in brain tissues of rats were measured by colorimetric method at 4 weeks after cel transplantation.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Compared with the model group, the escape latency was shortened and the cross-platform frequency was increased in the experimental group (P < 0.05), and moreover, significantly elevated superoxide dismutase activity and reduced malondialdehyde content in the brain tissues of rats were found in the experimental group (P < 0.05). These findings indicate that bone marrow mesenchymal stem cel transplantation contributes to behavior improvement in senile dementia rats by improving the learning and memory ability.
