This paper digested some papers that were published from January to October,2009,and concerning about Chinese schistosomiasis control and research of schistosome,covering schistosomiasis control strategy,schistosome genomies and proteomics,immunodiagnosis of schistosomiasis,molecular biology and immunology,etc.

Glutamine is the most abundant amino acid in mammalian plasma and involved in the metabolism and tissue homeostasis of some important substance under physiological and pathological situations.Function of glutamine should be based on its transport into or out of the functional cells via transporters located in cytomembrane.As the liver is the primary center of amino acids homeostasis in the body,it is helpful to learn structure and function of those transporters in hepatic plasma membrane to having a better understanding of the metabolism and function of glutamine.

Objective　An animal model in which rats were subjected to 20% TBSA Ⅲ degree burns combined with injection of LPS(1mg/kg B.M.)was used for this experiment.Dynamic changes of platelet-activating factor(PAF),tumor necrosis factor(TNF),xanthine oxidase(XO) and melondialdehyde(MDA) in the intestinal tissue were measured to investigate mechanism and characteristics of the intestinal mucosal damage. The results showed a series of early pathogenic changes in the intestinl mucosa were founded,level of intestinal tissue PAF, XO and MDA level in BCEG was higher than that of any other groups at most times, XO and MDA was more positively correlated with PAF respecively after burns combined with endotoxin injection (P<0.005,P<0.001)，during the peak phase of PAF, intestinal mucosal damage was more evident. It suggests there is synergistic effect on the early intestinal mucosal damage due to activation of mucosal cells,release of PAF and TNF, activation of intestinal epithelial XO, production of free radicals and strengthenment of lipoperoxidation after burns combined with endotoxemia

This review describes the major species,number,breeding pattern,ratio of fenced to freely grazed goat,suscepti?bility to Schistosoma japonicum,pattern of S. japonicum infection,infection rate,intensity of infection,fecal contamination of goat that were bred in 5 marshland and lake provinces of Hunan,Hubei,Jiangxi,Anhui and Jiangsu,and two mountainous provinces of Yunnan and Sichuan,and demonstrates the associations of infected goat distribution with the distribution of infect?ed Oncomelania hupensis snails and humans. Considering the huge number of goat which were predominantly grazed freely in marshland and lake endemic regions of China,the high infection rate,numerous environmental pollution by goat feces,as well as the close correlation between the infected goat distribution and infected snail distribution,goat is considered as a major infec?tious source for schistosomiasis japonica in China,and to play a critical role in the transmission of the disease. Since the control of schistosomiasis in animals is critical to schistosomiasis interruption and elimination,it is suggested that the integrated man?agement of goat schistosomiasis should be included in the national schistosomiasis control program of China.

Objective To construct the recombinant adenovirus vector which contained human survivin, then being transfected into dendritic cells. Methods Full length survivin cDNA was obtained from recombinant plasmid pCITE survivin by PCR, the PCR product was double digested with restrictive endonucleases Kpn Ⅰ and Xhol Ⅰ, then being inserted directionally into pAdTrack CMV. The plasmid of pAdTrack survivin was lined with PmeⅠ, the fragment containing survivin was reclaimed and transfected into E coli BJ5183. After having been screened by selected media, the extracted plasmid of positive bacteria was transfected into HEK293 cells with liposome and was identified by observing the green fluorescence protein (GFP) and by PCR method. At the time, the culture media containing virus was transfected into fibroblast, and the expression of survivin was proved by observing the GFP and the Western blot method. Results The recombined adenovirus survivin was constructed successfully and the titer was about 1 65?10 8 pfu/ml. A band was observed by Western bolt and its relative molecular mass was about 16 5kD. Conclusion A recombinant adenovirus vector containing human survivin was constructed successfully, and the survivin protein was expressed by fibroblast. It lays the foundation for further study on survivin as a target antigen for gene therapy

The triad of trauma including hypothermia,acidosis,and coagulopathy during initial operative and resuscitation efforts has been recognized as a significant cause of death in patients with severe abdominal traumatic injuries.Damage control surgical approach with a brief fast surgery,subsequent intensive care unit resuscitation,and a planned reoperation is an emerging technique to control bleeding and contamination and undertake temporary abdominal wall closure that can shorten the operating time,lessen the traumatic stress,fast correct the triad of trauma and lower the incidence rate of postoperative complications.Damage control surgery places a important role in dealing severe traumatic injuries currently.

Objective To propose the developmental orientation of the science of pathology in PLA in the next five years by reviewing the advances and developmental tendency of pathology in the Eleventh Five-Year Plan. Methods The latest progresses and developmental tendency in pathology were reviewed by reviewing the related reviews and treatises published domestically and abroad. Results With the scientific and technological progresses,especially rapid development of molecular biology,a lot of new knowledge,theories,techniques and methods had been proposed,established and applied in various fields of pathology successfully,which provided a new opportunity for improving clinical pathological diagnosis,pathologic research and teaching,as well as cultivation of academic talents of pathology discipline. Meanwhile,these new advances had also broadened the new field of pathological studies and accelerated the development of military pathology. Remarkable achievements have been obtained in military pathology and oncological pathology,etc. Conclusion Emphasis should hereafter be put on the researches in the fields of molecular pathology,military pathology,clinical pathology and army-civilian common pathological techniques,so as to raise the technical level of pathological diagnosis and perfect the construction of hospital pathology discipline.

Schistosomiasis is a neglected tropical disease that severely threatens human health and affects the socioeconomic development. The causative agent that parasitizes in humans mainly involves Schistosoma japonicum,S. mansoni,S. haematobi-um,S. intercalatum and S. mekongi. As the firstly identified schistosome,S. haematobium infection is found to strongly correlate with bladder cancer. This paper mainly reviews the discovery,morphology and life cycle of S. haematobium.

Ninty three bp endotoxin binding peptide gene was cloned with PCR from the amino terminal of human LBP cDNA, which was introduced into the expression plasmid Pinpoint Xa 3. After the constructs being transformed into E.coli DH5?, the postive recombinants were identified by restriction enzyme analysis and DNA sequencing. Induced by IPTG, the desired 16.5kD EBP fusion protein was expressed and confirmed with SDS PAGE and Western blotting. These results paved a reasonable way for the study of a new endotoxin binding peptide.
