ObjectiveTo investigate the psychological state and distribution of emotional symptoms of women during peri-menopause.Methods56 women with some emotional disorder (sick group) and 37 women without emotional symptom (control group) peri-menopause were measured with Symptom Checklist 90 (SCL-90).ResultsThe scores of total, quantity of positive items, average of positive, somatic factor, compulsion, depression and anxiety, phobia in sick group were more than that of control group significantly.ConclusionWomen during peri-menopause present serious emotional disorder mainly in somatization, compulsion, depression, anxiety and phobia.

Resveratrol is a natural phytoalexin with special pharmacological and health functions. Stilbene synthase (STS) is a key and rate-limiting enzyme in the biosynthesis of resveratrol that is present only in a limited number of plants. The content of resveratrol from Polygonum cuspidatum is more than 1000 times higher than grapes and peanuts. We speculate that the catalytic ability of different STS may be one of the reasons causing differences in the content of resveratrol. To verify the above speculation, Vitis vinifera stilbene synthase gene (VvSTS) was amplified according to overlap PCR protocol with genomic DNA as template. VvSTS and PcSTS (PcPKS5) were analyzed through heterologous expression in Escherichia coli. The expression products were purified with Ni-NTA sepharose affinity chromatography and desalted through PD-10 column. The molecular weight of the two fusion proteins was about 43 kDa. Enzyme reaction and product analysis showed that the two products were resveratrol. The enzyme kinetic analysis showed that the catalyze efficiency (Kcat/Km) of PcPKS5 was 2.4 times of the VvSTS. Our findings confirms that STS from certain plants has much higher catalytic capability.

[Objective] To investigate the relation among the polymorphism of interleukin-8 (IL-8) gene A-251T and apolipoprotein E (ApoE) gene with late-onset Alzheimer's disease (LOAD). [Methods] Polymerase chain reaction and restrietive fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) were used to detect the polymorphism distribution of IL-8 gene A-251T and ApoE gene of 185 people in Han ethnicity of Guangdong province (study group: 88 LOAD patients, eontrolled group: 97 people). The correlation of these genes was analyzed. [Results] (1) The differences of genotypes and alleles of IL-8 gene A-251T between study group and controlled group had no statistical significance. (2) The frequency of ApoE 64 allele in study group was significantly higher than that in controlled group, as risk factor of LOAD (OR=2.272, P=0.003). (3) Study group and controlled group were both divided into two groups by carrying ApoE ε4 allele or not. The differenees of IL-8 genotypes were no significant whether in carrying ApoE ε4 allele group or not (carrying ε4 group: P=0.965; no carrying ε4 group: P=0.523). [Conclusion] It is suggested that lL-8 gene A-251T polymorphism perhaps has no relation with LOAD and has no interaction with ApoE ε4 allele.

Objective To observe the effect and safety of the aversion therapy with furazolidone on patients with alcohol dependence. Methods 90 patients with alcohol dependence were randomly divided into the aversion therapy group and the control group with 45 cases in each group. The cases of the aversion therapy group were treated by aversion therapy with furazolidone and those of the control group were treated with routine therapy. The changes of the blood pressure, pulse and respiratory rate before and after drinking were observed and the rate of successful abstinence in one year was investigated. Results The effect of the aversion therapy group treated with furazolidone was significantly better than that of the control group ( P<0.05). The aversion therapy was safe. Conclusion The aversion therapy with furazolidone is more effective and safe.
