Yeungnam University Journal of Medicine 1994;11(1):94-100
To establish whether an association exists between low blood pressure and common symptoms such as fatigue, dizziness, headache, and palpitation, we analysed the data of health center in Yeungnam medical college from January 1993 to June 1993. Total 1,133 subjects were taken and results were analysed by combined stratification and logistic regression. The results were as followed : 1. True confounders were sex, age, and body mass index. 2. No association was found between low blood pressure and all symptoms. 3. Positive associations were found between high blood pressure and self reported palpitation and headache, which persisted after adjusted for confounders. The results suggest that low blood pressure and all neurasthenic symptoms such as fatigue, palpitation, headache and dizziness have no association, but the validity is limited.

Journal of the Korean Society of Emergency Medicine 2000;11(3):401-405
Blunt chest trauma to the heart may produce instantaneous death or, more frequently, congestive heart failure due to myocardial injury or disruption of intracardiac structures. Cardiac injury following by blunt chest trauma is often unsuspected and can range from cardiac contusion to chamber rupture, or to valvular dysfunction. The rate of occurrence of acute traumatic valvular insufficiency is extremely rare. Especially, the tricuspid valve is very rarely injured. Although clinical diagnosis of acute traumatic valvular insufficiency can be difficult to make for trauma patients with multiple injuries, echocardiography can establish diagnosis quickly and accurately. This report describes a patient who developed tricuspid regurgitation and acute heart failure following by an MCV.

Korean Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology 1997;40(8):1735-1739
We have experienced two cases of Wernicke's encephalopathy associated with hypere-mesis gravidarum. Delay in it's diagnosis caused a protracted illness and persisting neurol-ogic deficits. Because of its association with chronic alcoholism, possibility of Wernicke's encephalopathy may not be considered in early stage of disease. The clinical feature, the principle of management and the prevention of Wernicke's encephalopathy are discussed.

Sleep Medicine and Psychophysiology 2011;18(1):29-34
OBJECTIVES: The purposes of this study were to estimate the effect of mandibular advancement device (MAD) and to evaluate the influence of the advancement amount of mandible in the application of MAD for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) patients. METHODS: From the patients who were diagnosed as OSA by polysomnographic study at Seoul National University Bundang Hospital from January 2007 to February 2009, the patients who chose MAD as treatment option were included in this study. All the patients' data including clinical records and polysomnographic studies (both pre- and post-treatment) were reviewed and analyzed. RESULTS: Successful results were obtained in 65 patients of 86 patients (75.6%). In the follow-up period, mild discomfort of anterior teeth or temporomandibular joint (TMJ) were described in 28 patients, especially in the cases the amount of mandibular advancement were more than 7.0 mm. There was no direct relationship between the amount of mandibular advancement and clinical outcome. CONCLUSION: MAD was effective treatment option for the OSA patients regardless of severity. For the prevention of potential dental complications, the amount of mandibular advancement should be considered at the time of MAD treatment.

Korean Journal of Legal Medicine 2013;37(1):34-37
Aneurysm of the internal carotid artery is a rare disease and is known to be associated with congenital arterial anomalies such as neurofibromatosis type I (NF-I). NF-I is an autosomal dominant neurocutaneous disorder characterized by a variety of manifestations that involve the central and peripheral nervous systems, skin, vascular system, and skeleton. In particular, the involvement of vascular abnormalities in NF-I is well known. Any vessel may be affected by this condition, although the renal artery is most frequently involved. The vascular abnormality can be occlusive or an aneurysmal degenerative change. Therefore, symptomatic presentations might assume an indolent pathophysiologic course such as hypertension, or manifest as a catastrophic event such as arterial rupture that could result in sudden death. We report a rare autopsy case of an aneurysmal rupture of the internal carotid artery in a woman with suspected NF-I, who collapsed in her home.

Journal of the Korean Society of Emergency Medicine 1998;9(2):347-351
Tetanus is a rare disease in the developed countries, including Korea, as a result of nearly universal active immunization. Because many physicians have little experience with its diagnosis and management, misdiagnosis and therapeutic delay may result in catastrophic consequences. We report one case of generalized tetanus. A previously healthy 35-year-old man was admitted to the emergency department because of stiffness on jaw and neck. board-like abdomen, extended and rigid both legs, chest tightness, and dyspnea. Seven days before admission, he was injured on the right thing at work. In the emergency department, he was given 5,000 units of human tetanus immunoglobulin intramuscularly, as well as diazepam 2 mg/hr intravenously. On the second hospital day, tracheostomy was performed. Ten days later, his condition was improved. Twenty eight days after admission, he was discharged without any complication.

Journal of the Korean Radiological Society 1986;22(4):552-558
This retrospective study was performed to assess CT scan findings of pancratic cancer and its ability todetermine resectability. CT scans of 41 patients, who were diagnosed to have pancreatic cancer on histological orclinical base, were reviewed. Most common findings were; focal pancreatic enlargement, diffuse pancreaticenlargement, loss of distinct contour, peripancretic fat obliteration, bile duct or pancreatic duct dilatation, vascular invasion, lymph node involvement, direct invasion of adjacent organs and distant metastasis.Resectability was assessed according to generally accepted CT findings such as small pancreatic mass lesion havingnormal lobulated contour of pancreas, no evidence of vascular invasion, no evidence lymph node involvement andfree of distant metastasis. With the criteria, 5 cases among 41 cases deemed to be resectable. However onoperation all cases were found unresectable indicating prediction of tumor resectability is difficult even withhelp of CT. Nonetheless CT would be very helpful in management of patients having pancreatic cancer since CT wouldshorten the diagnostic procedures of pancreatic cancer.
