To Evaluate the clinical characteristics of childhood-onset systemic lupus erythemoatosus (SLE) and analyse the factors related to outcome of renal function in lupus nephritis, we reviewed medical records of 18 cases of SLF diagnosed at the Department of Pediatrics. Pusan National University Hospital from January 1981 to December 1990. The results were as follow: 1)Male to female ratio was 1:2.6. 2) Nephropathy was the most common initial impression, and 8 cases were diagnosed as SLE at first. 3) The clinical menifestation. was ANA (+), malar rash, renal disorder, hematologic disorder in frequency. 4) Diffuse proliferative lupus nephritis was the most common in renal histopathologic studies. 5) Among the follow-up cases, active lupus was 39%, remission was 28%. 6) As factors related to outcome of lupus nephrits were, hypertension and proteinuria were siginificant statistically.

Mucoepidermoid carcinoma of lung are rare carcinoma arising from the submucosal glands tissue of the proximal tracheobronchial tree. The carcinoma can be divided into low grade and high grade varienties. The most important factors in the prognosis include histological grading and the ability to achieve a complete surgical resection. We experienced a case of high grade mucoepidermoid carcinoma in pulmonary tuberculosis patient of 67 years old male who has been suffered from left chest pain for several weeks. He was not treated and died seventeen months later.

Color developers(CD) have been noted to produce lichen planus like eruption as well as eczematous contact dermatitis. The chemicals involved are derivatives of paraphenylenediamine or aniline, i. e., Kodak CD 2, Kodak CD 3, Agfa TSS. We report a 28-year-old male who showed a feature of lichenoid contact dermatitis after exposure to color developer. Patch test revealed positive reactions to CD2, CD3 and CD4. Skin biopsy from a patch site showed lichen planus-like tissue reaction.

The spindle and epithelioid cell nevus, is known also as Spitz's nevus or benign juvenile melanoma. The histologic picture of the lesion often closely resembles that of a malignant melanoma, but spindle and epithelioid cell nevus hehaves benignly. Criteria for accurate histological diagnosis of this nevus now exist. However, a difficult lesion occasionally brings one to the worrisome situation even now. We experienced four cases (three children and one adult) of spindle and epithelioid cell neveus with nodular or macular skin lesions. In children (7/F, 9/F, 4/M), all of the lesion show a solitary pinkish red or light brown nodular firm masses, 0.7 cm to 1.0 cm in greatest dimension, which are located at the left posterior thigh, posterior neck and right anterior neck region, respectively. In adult (36/F), the lesion shows a light brown, erythematous macule, 0.8 cm in greatest diameter, in the skin of the back. Microscopically, both spindle and epithelioid cells are found in all the four cases, but epithelioid cells predominate in children and spindle cells predominate in adult.

9.Relationship between Caregiver’s Dementia Attitude and Care Behavior:The Mediating Effect of Compassion Competence
Korean Journal of Occupational Health Nursing 2024;33(1):36-46
Purpose:
This study aimed to investigate compassion competence and its mediating effects on the relationship between attitudes toward dementia and care behavior among caregivers of older adults with dementia in nursing homes.
Methods:
211 participants were recruited for this cross-sectional study. Data were collected from February 1st to May 24th, 2023, through a structured questionnaire and analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis and the bootstrapping method.
Results:
The mean score for care behavior was 3.67±0.97 (range 1~5). Caring behaviors were significantly associated with attitudes toward dementia (r=.76, p<.001) and compassion competence (r=.75, p<.001). Using Baron and Kenny’s approach and PROCESS Macro model 4, care behavior was directly affected by dementia attitude (β=.76, p<.001). Compassion competence (β=.66, p<.001) was directly affected by dementia attitude. The partial mediating effects of compassion competence (β=.47, p<.001, 95% confidence interval 0.10~0.23) on the impact of dementia attitude on care behavior was confirmed.
Conclusion
The results suggest that compassion competence should be considered when developing nursing interventions to enhance dementia-related attitudes and improve care behavior among caregivers of older adults with dementia.
