Journal of the Korean Society of Biological Psychiatry 1997;4(1):54-59
OBJECTS: Sanjoin, the seeds of Zizyphus vulgaris var. spinosus has been used as the most important hypnotic agent in chinese medicine to treat insomnia. This research was performed in order to examine the effect of betulinic acid and sanjoinine-A which are components of Sanjoin. METHOD: Sleeping time, sleep recordings of EEG, serum serotonin level, and locomotor activity were measured in rats which received betulinic acid and sanjoinine-A as sleep induction material extracted from Sanjoin. RESULTS: 1) Groups received betulinic acid, sanjoinine-A, and lorazepam showed increased sleep time than control group with saline. 2) Groups with betulinic acid, sanjoinine-A, lorazepam and saline recorded beta-wave in sleep recording of EEG. In there was no significant difference among all groups. 3) No significant difference in serum serotonin level among all groups was found. 4) In autonomic activity testing, groups of betulinic acid, sanjoinine-A, and lorazepam showed significantly more decreased in activity than saline group. In comparison of groups of betulinic acid and sanjoinine-A with a group of lorazepam, there was no significant difference. CONCLUSION: These results suggests that betulinic acid and sanjoinine-A have the sedative effect like lorazepam rather than sleep effect.

Journal of Korean Neurosurgical Society 1991;20(8):699-703
A 18-year-old girl, who presented with painful scalp mass on occipital region, was found in have a congential dermal sinus. At surgery, upon incision of the occipital muscle fascia, pus poket was encountered and it was connected with thickened occipito-cervical dura through the small foramen on midline occiptial bone. The pathogenesis and principles of management are briefly reviewed.

Menetrier's disease is a rare disease characterized by the presence of large rugal folds involving part or all of the stomach. Patients with hypertrophic gastropathy often have distressing abdominal symptoms, weight loss and edema due to gastric protein loss. The 48-year-old male patient was admitted to the Hangang Sacred Heart Hospital with cheif complaints of indigestion and epigastric pain. The diagnosis of Menetriers disease is established by radiologic, endoscopic, and pathologic examination. He was treated with soft diet, antacid, H2- receptor antagonist, and IV albumin. We report a case of Menetriers disease with brief review of literatures.

Journal of Korean Neurosurgical Society 1993;22(8):929-933
A 62-year-old woman, who presented with dipolipia, was found to have a giant aneurysm of the right internal carotid artery. Gradual ligation of the right internal carotid artery was followed by nausea and vomiting 10 days after the complete ligation. Follow up MRI showed intraluminal thrombus formation of the aneurysm and right temporo-occipital infarction.

Korean Journal of Orthodontics 1997;27(5):723-732
The purpose this study was to investigate the variations of the soft tissue profile contour in relation to the skeletal patterns and to confirm the correlation of soft tissue angles to the sagittal or vertical skeletal elements. Lateral cephalograms of 79 cases which were older than 17 years in age, were traced and statistically analyzed. The obtained results were as follows : 1. Nasolabial angle, interlabial angle, lower lip angle, mentolabial angle, symphyseal angle showed the significant differences between skeletal Class II and skeletal. Class III group, but nasofrontal, upper lip, mentolavbial, and symphyseal angles showed the significant differences between high angle low angle group. 2. ANB value showed the dignificant positive correlation to nasolabial, symphuseal, and interlabial angles and the significant negative felation to lower lip angle. 3. SN-GoMe vlue showed the significant positive correlation to mentolabial, symphyseal, nasofrontal, and upper lip angles. 4. Soft tissue profile contour in SK. Class II group showed greater accofdance to SN-GoMe value than those in SK. Class III group.
