Korean Journal of Dermatology 1977;15(4):431-435
The effect of retinoic acid. on hyperkeratotic diseases and. Acne as being published. To confirm the effect of topical retinoic acid, vre subjected 50 patients with mild to severe Acne vulgaris of the face, The patients chosen were not previously treated. with any remedy at least for the past 2 weeks. Eudyna' cream or gel were applied. once or twice a day to the face keeping some distance from the mucous membrane. We checked the number of closed comedones, open comedones, papules, pustules and scara before the treatment and every week for 14 wks during the treatment, The result were as follows: l. 42 patients began to improve in 2 to 8 wks and markedly improved in 6 to 8 wks. 3 patients dropped out because of severe side effects. Very good: 13 patients(26%) Good: 14 patinets(28%) Satisfactory: 15 patients(80%) None: 5 patients(10%) 2. The side effects: Most of patients suffered from mild to severe erythema, scaling and buming sensation in 2 to 3 days after the initiation of application. In severe cases developed severe erythema, vesicles, pustules, edema and exudation within a week.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1978;16(4):325-329
Gout is not very rare disorder in high economic countries and it is seldom observed in our country and is hard to find its report in Korean dermatologic literature. Gout is a disease of inbom metabolic and/or acquired form of the disease chara-cterized by hyperuricemia, tophaceous deposits of sodium urate and recurrent attacks of arthrit.is which dramatically responds to Colchine. A case of tophaceous gout in a 56 year old Korean male is reported. The patient showed pea to waInut size, yellowish tender subcutaneous masses on right great toe and both solee of 15 year duration which are adherented to the overIying skin. The hiatology of the lesion revealed variously sized, sharply demarcated aggregates of needle shaped urate crystals in bund.his and sheaves which are surrounded by fibrous connective tissue which are in tum surrounded by granulomatous infiltrate containing small round cells and foreign body glant cells. The urate crystals have a brownish color and are doubly refractile on polariscopic examination. The use of colchine, in a initial dose of 1mg foIIowed by 0. 5mg every hour for 6 hours. The patient failed to attend the clinic regularly and was lost for folIow up.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1975;13(4):315-319
A cutaneous angiitis showing evidence of leukocytoclastic angiitis in a 17 year old girl is presented. The patient showed multiple pinhead to pea sized erythematoue papular lesions on both legs, right axillary region, left upper chest, palms and especially around the ankles, The lesions did not fade on diascopy and caused mild pruritus and were slightly tender. The lesions had been present for about six months. The definition, classification, pathogenesis and therapeutic aspects of cutan- eous angiitis are reviewd.

5.Factors Affecting Nurses' Web-based Learning Achievement in Schoolwork.
Korean Journal of Occupational Health Nursing 2013;22(1):57-65
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the factors that affected self efficacy, social support and learning achievement in the web-based learning of graduate school students. METHODS: The data were collected from 79 nurses in a web-based learning. A self-reported questionnaire was used to assess the level of self-efficacy, social support and learning achievement. RESULTS: The learning achievement was significantly improved to 4.05 points after web-based learning compared to 2.69 points before web-based learning, and all other items were also improved. Self-efficacy was improved to 3.91 points from 3.66 points after web-based learning and so was social support to 4.18 points from 3.94 points. Fatigue and stress among health behavior characteristics were significantly decreased after web-based learning. CONCLUSION: This study shows that the web-based learning improved self-efficacy and social support of the students. And self-efficacy was an important factor in learning achievement. It is necessary to develop a strategy to improve self-efficacy as well as to manage social support for increasing interactions among the nurses in a web-based learning.

Annals of Dermatology 1998;10(4):285-288
Partial Unilateral Lentiginosis (PUL) is a rare pigmentary disorder characterized by the numerous lentigines confined to a body segment, with a sharp demarcation at the midline. We report two cases of PUL. A 38-year-old woman had asymptomatic discrete small hyperpigmented macules that were scattered on the T7~L1 dermatomes on the left side of her trunk and were clearly demarcated in the midline on both anterior and posterior sides. In the other case, an 18- year-old woman had hyperpigmented macules that were scattered on the left neck, shoulder, and anterior chest. Other anomalies including neurofibromatosis, neurologic anomalies, and multiple lentiginous syndrome were not related in both cases. We report two cases of PUL having no other anomalies.

10.Prevalence of Antibody to Herpes simplex virus.
Korean Journal of Dermatology 1993;31(1):38-46
Herpes simplex virus infections, with their increasing tendenes are one of the most common infectious diseases. But there have been no systematic investigations on the prevalence of HSV antibodies according to ages in Korea. We therefore decided to investigate this prevalence using micro-neutralization tests. Blood samples were collected from 502 randomly selected men and women, 5 months to 77 years of age who were outpatients or hospitalized patients at the Hanyang University Hospital between 1990-1991. Students at the Hanyang university college of medicine, and other volunteers were also tested. All of the serum samples were assayed for antibodies to HSV useing the microneutralization test. The Cos strain of HSV 1 and the YHS 2-1 strain of HSV 2 were use3 in our study. The antibody titers were expressed as the highest serum dilution causing 80% plaque reduction. The individuals with a neutralizing antibody titer of 1: 2 or higher to HSV 1 were regardel as having the antibody to HSV l. To determine HSV 2 antibody activity, the II/I index was used (II/I mdex : log HSV1 antibody titer/log, HSV 2 antibody titer, lI/I index >0.85) The results obtained were the followings : 1. HSV 1 antibodies were found at a relatively high rate in young a es and its prevalence gradually increased with age. 2. HSV 1 antibody titers iricreased with age. 3. HSV 2 antibodies were not found in children under 11 years of ae but were found in teenagers at a relatively low rate. The prevalence tended to increas with age. 4. HSV 2 antibody titers showed a higher value in those over 31 years of age.
