Korean Journal of Preventive Medicine 1996;29(3):451-470
To identify the drug abuse status and its determinant factors in high school boys in Taegu, the study was performed from April to May, 1995. Study population were selected by cluster sampling method and total 5,665 students replied to the self-administered questionnaire survey(2,207 in academic high school, 3,458 in business high school). The major findings were as follows; The proportion of drinking, smoking experience was 55.0%, 45.8%, respectively, and the proportion of current drinker, current smoker was 27.2%, 27.5%. The drinking, smoking experience rate of second grade students was higher than first grade and it was higher in business high school boys. The proportion of a stimulant, a hallucinogen, hemp leaf cigarets experience was 3.2%, 1.6%, 0.1%, respectively. Drug abuse had significant association with home environment(lower economic status, frequent move, death of father or mother, apart from family), parents environment(parents' indifference, parents' drinking and smoking, etc.), school life(lower school grades, intimate friend's drug abuse, etc.), generous attitude to drug abuse, higher level of stress. Students who replied that the law prohibited immature person(students) from drinking and smoking showed lower drug abuse rate. In multiple logistic regression analysis, second grade students, business high school students, parents' indifference, lower school grades, intimate friend's drug abuse, no recognition of the fact that the law prohibits high school students from drinking and smoking, generous attitude to drug abuse, higher level of stress were significantly related with alcohol abuse and smoking. Other drugs abuse were related with above factors. On consideration of above findings, to prevent students from drug abuse, we have to try together in house, school, and society.

Xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis is an uncommon entity of chronic renal infection and often misdiagnosed with renal tumor clinically. The characteristic examination are foamy histiocyte containing lipid material and foreign body giant cell forming granulomas, Macroscopically yellow nodules are present at the area of necrotic tissue. We have experienced a case of xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis in 38 years old woman and reported with review of some literatures.

5.Clinical Observation on Chronic Prostatitis.
Korean Journal of Urology 1980;21(1):40-45
A clinical observation was made on 112 cases of chronic prostatitis during the period from January 197S to June l979. The following results were obtained. 1). Age distribution was between 20 and 50 years old, showing the highest incidence in 31 to 35 years (31.3%) and the next in 36-40 years (18.6%). 2) Previous diseases were acute or chronic urethritis on 78 cases (69.6%), epididymitis on 6 cases (5.4%). pulmonary tuberculosis on 2 cases (1.8%), bronchitis on 1 case (0.9%). 3) Subjective symptoms were in order of frequency, dysuria, perineal discomfort and testicular discomfort. 4 cases (12.5) were free of symptoms. 4) On rectal palpation of prostate, 60 cases (53.6%) were firm, 22 cases (l9.6%) indurated, 3 cases (2.7%) nodular and 26 cases (23.2%) soft. 78 cases were normal. 29 cases enlarged and 5 cases small in size. 5) In urine examination, 28 cases (25.9%) showed W.B.C. more than 5/HPF and 20 cases (17.9 %) R.B.C. more than 5/HPF. 79 cases (70.5%) were within normal limit. Prostatic fluid was within normal limit in 38 cases (33.9%) and in 74 cases (66.1%) W.B.C. were more than 10/HPF. 6) In 20 cases performing prostatic fluid culture, staphylococcus epidermis was isolated in 5 cases, E. Coli in 2 cases, streptococcus in l case, staphylococcus aureus in 1 case and Klebsiella in 1 case. Microorganisms were not cultured in 10 cases. 7) The period of treatment was from 2 weeks to 16 weeks.

Journal of Korean Academy of Adult Nursing 2004;16(2):264-275
PURPOSE: The purpose of this Study was to identify the factors that affect the caregiving burdens felt by the female family caregivers and quality of caregiving. METHOD: The subjects were 247 female family caregivers who were living with the elderly and were residing in Seoul. Data was collected from June 30, 2000 to Agust 11 by using questionnaire. The collected data was analyzed using descriptive statistics and hierarchial multiple regression with SAS/PC. RESULT: Situational factors had the greatest influence on the caregiving burdens. While the interactive factors of discrepancy between past and present image of elder and the caregiving belief were proven to be significant, the former had greater influence. The factors affecting the quality of caregiving, this is greatly influenced by situational factors and interactive factors. The discrepancy between past and present image of elder had relatively little influence while caregiving belief had the greatest influence. Among the situational factors, family stress had the greatest influence, while the caregiving burdens had little influence on the quality of caregiving. CONCLUSION: In order to improve the quality of caregiving in elderly by the female caregiver in the family, and to reduce the caregiving burdens, it is important to consider variables related to interaction as well as those directly concerned with caregiver and the elderly for nursing intervention.

Korean Journal of Pathology 2000;34(2):160-163
We report a case of 50-year-old man with hyalinized hemangioma of the liver. This tumor was detected incidentally during surgical operation for gall stone and was preoperatively diagnosed as intrahepatic stone. A 2.5 2 cm sized gray to white hard mass was found in the left lobe of the liver. Histologically, the tumor was composed of dense collagenous tissue with marked hyalinization, calcification, and ossification admixed with scattered sclerotic vessels. Abundunt elastic fibers were noted in the hyalinized tissue. Totally hyalinized hemangioma is very uncommon and could be erroneously diagnosed as a malignant tumor by preoperative radiologic examination.
