A case of 14 year-old female with linear porokeratosis is reported with review of articles. She has been suffering from dark brownish, typical porokeratotic patches on the face, neck, right axilla, left hand and left lower extremity. Each lesions are distributed in linear arrangement. Family and past history are not contributory. On histologic examination of skin specimen shows typical cornoid lamella which is hallmark of this disease. Treament was carried with 5go salicylic acid ointment and 0. 025% halcinonide ointment alternatively without successful response.

BACKGROUND: To evaluate the usefulness of exercise echocardiography in diagnosis of coronary artery disease and to compare it with exercise ECG test. METHOD: We performed exercise test in 48 patients who suffered from angina-like chest pain, according to the modified Bruce protocol. During exercise, we observed the ECG changes and recored the images of left ventricular wall motion before and after exercise on the video tape. The echocardiogram were digitally stored and displayed in a format that allowed simultaneous analysis of rest and stress images. Newly developed left ventricular wall motion abnormalities were determined as positive findings. RESULTS: The feasibility of exercise echocardiography was 75%. The sensitivity and specificity fo exercise ECG test was 67% and 89%. The sensitivity and specificity of exercise echocardiography was 85% and 100%. The sensitivity of ECG and echocardiography was 50%(7 of 14) and 78.6%(11 of 14) in those with one-vessle disease and 84.6%(11 of 13) and 92.3%(12 fo 13) in those with multi-vessle disease. CONCLUSION: Exercise stress echocardiography was very usefull method for detecting the coronary artery disease especially in single vessle disease. And it had much higher accuracy than the stress ECG test.

Nasopharyngeal angiofibroma is a relatively rare, but is a well known tumor that occurs almost in male, most frequently during the adolescent stage. Its character is histologically benign but clinically malignant because of locally invasive character to the adjascent structures, massive bleeding tendency during surgical procedure and high recurrence rate after treatment. Recently many advancements diagnostic method and surgical technique has reached satisfactory result in treating this difficult tumor. The authors present a case of nasopharyngeal angiofibroma in 16 years old male patient, who was received surgical removal of the tumor through the transpalatal approach after full diagnostic evaluation and preoperative hormonal therapy.

This study was performed to investigate the rate of occurrence of neonatal birthmarks and their clinical features. From October 1982 to September l983, 1,035 newborn babies were examined in the Keimyung University Dongsan Medical center and the results were summarized as follows. The main nevi in the newborn were salmon patch (28 9%), portwine stain (0.3%), strawberry mark (0.4%), pigmented lesions (1.0%) and mongolian spot (81. 2%). The salmon patch was present most frequently on the nape but no particular predilection sites were noted in portwine stain, strawberry mark and pigmented lesions. The mongolian spot developed on the sacral portion, buttocks and lower back, in decreasing order.

Pityriasis rotunda is characterized by perfectly circular to oval brownish scaly patch on the trunk and extremities. This disease is considered to be a form of acquired ichtkyosis of unknown etiology and develops usually in association with certain systemic diseases, such as tuberculosis, malignant neoplasrn, leprosy, ovarian cyst and uterine myoma etc, We experienced 2 cases of pityriasis rotunda on the abdomen, chest and back associated with liver cirrhosis in 66 year old man 43 year old woman and clinical presentation was made with review of related literatures.

We observed a case of tuberculosis cutis orificialis, which occurred in 50 year-old man. He had been suffered from single markedly inflamed, erythematous painful ulcer, covered by dirty brown pseudomembranous material, around anus for 3 months. The laboratory findings (CBC, routine urinalysis, stool ova and parasite with occult blood) are within normal limits except elevated ESR (52mm/hr.). Staphyloeoccus aureus and proteus are observed on wound culture, and many AFB are seen on scrapings of wound but not on sputum for 3 times. Unfortunately culture was not done. Tuberculin skin test revealed strong reaction (36mm/hr.). Chest PA and small bowel series showed far advanced pulmonary tuberculosis and intestinal tuberculosis on ileocecal area. But the findings of upper gastro-intestinal series and barium enema are within normal limits. Histopathologic findings of skin lesion showed tuberculous and tuberculoid granuloma in the deep dermis and subcutaneous tissue. A 22-year-old-male patient has numerous brownish-black, soft follicular papules which compatible with acne are scattered on the chest, scapular regions, back and buttocks for 4 5 years duration. Biopsy specimen revealed cystic structures in the mid-dermis lined by squamous cell epithelium w4ich contained laminated keratinous material and varying number of vellus hairs, histopathologically, compatible with diagnosis of eruptive vellus hair cysts. It is widely blieved that the new bone formation is provoked by fine electrical stress to bone. There have been maay experimental studies that showed much efforts to define these small amounts of electricity, and these fine electricities are being used in the orthopedic field for the treatment of various fractures, nonunions and pseudsrthrosia The auther has checked the electrical potentials changing in the course of fractvre hesling in rabbits femur. Comparing these data with that of the normal control group, the following results were obtained. 1. In the normal rabbit's femur the electrical potentisl was 13.6mV less on the concave side than on the convex side. This finding can be explained by the existence of stress generated potential or piexoelectricity. 2. Electrcal potentials on the fractured femoral sites were lowered significantly from that of the control group. So auther could confirm the existence of bioelectrical generated by increased electrical activity of the living bone. 3. The electrical potential of the fractured femoral site has been decreased 50% and 20% as low as that of the normal site at 8 weeks respectively. It is expected that these lowered electrical potentials may become dose to the normal values when the changed metabolic process due to the fractured bone is no longer functioning and it is believed to take human 2 years to get the normal value.
