We experienced a case of sparganosis developed in the dorsum of penile shaft where, we think, is the very rare site of sparganosis reported in Korea. The patient, a 23 year-old Korean soldier, had slight tender thread-like linear subcutaneous mass on the dorsal aspect of penile shaft for 1 month prior to coming to us. The skin lesion was not palpated when the penis was erect. He had experience of intaking raw-snakes intermittently(5 times) since 2 years ago.

Journal of Korean Academy of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing 2015;24(4):320-329
PURPOSE: This study was done to verify the validity and reliability of a Psychiatric Nurses' Image Scale (PSYNIS) for Korean psychiatric and mental health nurses. METHODS: A methodological study design was used with an exploratory factor analysis, Pearson's correlation, and a fitness of the modified mode for validity. Cronbach's alpha coefficients and an alternative-form method for reliability were used. Psychiatric Nurses' Image Scale (PSYNIS) was tested with 345 psychiatric and mental health nurses, residing in G city, J city, and J province. Data were collected from Jun. 1 to Aug. 2, 2012. Responses were obtained from respondents through self reports method and each item had a possible score of 5. Collected data were analyzed using the SPSS 20.0 and LISREL 8.54 programs. RESULTS: The 28 items making up the instrument were classified into the following 4 factors: 'Professionalism', 'Activism', 'Coordination competence', and 'Personalism'. These factors explained 63.2% of the total variance. Fitness of the modified mode was good (chi2= 1052.30, RMSEA=.05, GFI=.90, AGFI=.86, NFI=.97, and CFI=.98). The reliability of the PSYNIS was .95 (Cronbach's alpha). CONCLUSION: Results of the present study suggest that the PSYNIS is useful for efficiently evaluation of the image of psychiatric nurses.

Korean Journal of Anesthesiology 1997;33(4):788-791
We experienced a case of unilateral vocal cord paralysis following tracheal extubation. The patient was a 60-year-old man undergoing subtotal gastrectomy. He had no laryngeal symptoms prior to operation and the trachea was intubated with a cuffed endotracheal tube. The surgical procedure lasted 6 hours and was uneventful. Three days later after operation, he began to complain of hoarseness and mild aspiration symptom. On endoscopic examination, left vocal cord paralysis was found. Fifteen weeks later the voice and left vocal cord function return to normal without specific management. In this case, we suggested that possible causes of unilateral vocal cord paralysis are compression of recurrent laryngeal nerve by overexpanded endotracheal cuff, laryngeal trauma during difficult intubation, stretching of the nerve as a result of traction on distant organ, decreased elasticity of trachea and surrounding tissues in the older age group and long operating time.

We observed 2 cases of multiple trichoepithelioma, which occured in 25-year- old male and 20-year-old female. They visited our department for multiple skin rashes on the face of 8 years duration in male and 7 years' duration in female patient. Both of them have similar skin lesions characterized by multiplel waxy gshiny, skin colored, firm papules scattered on the nasolabial folds, both eyelids and forehead. Each one of them has a history of similar skin lesions in the family. Literatures are briefly reviewed for discussion of clinical and histopathologicl findings in this disease.

8.Development of Nurse Presence Scale.
Journal of Korean Academy of Nursing 2001;31(3):369-379
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to develop the Nurse Presence Scale and to test the reliability and validity of the instrument. METHOD: The subjects verifying the scale's reliability and validity were adult patients being treated in three artificial kidney unit in Pusan and Taegu from August 1 to October 15, 2000. The data was analyzed by the SPSS/WIN 8.0 program. RESULT: A factor analysis and was conducted items that had a factor loading more than .40, and an eigen value more than 1.0 were seleclted. The factor analysis classified a total of seven factors statistically, but the seventh factor was excluded because communality was less than 4%. Therefore, there were six factors, and its communality was 62%. The explanation of domain and factors based on the conceptual framework and item content are as follows: The first factor was 'interaction' in emotional areas, the second domain was 'empathy' in cognitive areas, the third was 'attention' in emotional areas, the fourth was 'openness' in emotional areas, the fifth was 'sensitivity' in behavioral areas, and the sixth was 'physical assist' in behavioral areas. Cronbach's alpa coefficient to test reliability of the scale was .9766 for a total 49 items. CONCLUSION: The Scale for Nurse Presence developed in the study was identified as a tool with a high degree of reliability and validity. Therefore, this scale can be effectively utilized for the evaluation of nurse presence in clinical settings.

The Journal of the Korean Orthopaedic Association 1984;19(2):431-435
Authors examined 40,000 minifilms(boys and girls each 10,000 in junior and senior high schools) which were taken for survey of pulmonary tuberculosis for junior and senior high school students and checked the prevalence of scoliosis. It was considered lateral curvature of spine more than 10 degrees as nonpostural scoliosis, which were analyzed prevalence rate, degree of curvature, distribution of size of curvature, pattern of curve and direction of curvature. Following results were obtained. 1. The overall prevalence rate was 1.56; male 1.38. and female 1.70%(Junior high school 1.06%, Senior high school 2.05%). 2. Scoliosis secondary due to bony abnormality was found in 5 cases. 3. The most common pattern of curvature was the thoracic curve. 4. In sihgle curve, right to left ratio was 1.7, especially senior high school girls had more right curve and junior high school boys had more left curve. 5. The prevalence of senior high school students was greater than that of junior high school students and the degree of curvature was also severe in senior high school students than in junior high school students.

Yonsei Medical Journal 2024;65(10):596-601
Purpose:
This study aimed to assess the feasibility of the Apple AirPods Pro with the headphone accommodation feature as a hearing assistive device for patients with mild to moderate hearing loss (HL).
Materials and Methods:
The study included a total of 35 participants with mild to moderate HL. To determine the degree of HL in the participants, a screening test using pure-tone audiometry was conducted prior to the main tests of functional gain, word recognition score (WRS), and sentence recognition in noisy environments. The study employed two hearing devices: the Bean (a personal sound amplification product, PSAP) and the AirPods Pro.
Results:
Regarding functional gain, there were no significant differences between the Bean and the AirPods Pro at all frequencies, except 8 kHz. In terms of WRS, both the Bean and the AirPods Pro had higher scores than the unaided condition. In sentence recognition, both the Bean and the AirPods Pro had higher scores than the unaided condition. During real-ear measurement, the Bean demonstrated consistent frequency responses, while the AirPods had a deviation exceeding 10 dB SPL at 6 kHz in the left ear. This deviation was absent for all other frequencies.
Conclusion
This study shows that the Apple AirPods Pro, with its headphone accommodation feature, performed similarly to a validated PSAP and improved hearing compared to unaided conditions.
