2.Patterns of Fazther-Infant Play Interaction: A Pilot Study.
Korean Journal of Child Health Nursing 1998;4(1):31-44
In our time the parent's role is changing from sexually differentiated to androgynous pattern. Mother's interaction with infant includes caring and father's interaction especially have play. Father and mother share the caring and play because they have complementary nature. Infants have a tendency to show more positive responses to their fathers than mothers in play situations. For that reason we can help the promotion of father's interaction with his infant. through ascertaining patterns of father-infant play interaction. This study was to find out patterns of father-infant play interaction in order to improve the interaction between father and infant. Data was video-taped from 6 fathers and infants who were healthy and first-timed and 7-11 weeks old in their houses. I used Father-Infant Play Interaction Scale that was applied to father instead of mother as a care-giver. The scale was checked up by experts in this field for content validity and the reliability was 0.95 in this study. The results were as follows; 1. Father's play behaviors were the patterns of responses about infant's cue. The mean score was 33.16(SD, 9.11). This mean they come up to the standard level of responses about infant's cue. 2. Infant's play behaviors were the patterns of responses about father's cue. The mean score was 7.00(SD, 3.10). This means they get the higher level of responses about father's cue. 3. The patterns of simultaneous responses occurred together between father and infant. The mean score was 9.58(SD, 3.96). This means they reach the standard level of simultaneous responses between father and infant. 4. The patterns of interactional behaviors occurred interpersonally between father and infant. The mean score was 49.75(SD, 15.80). This means they interact on the standard level of play interaction. In view of the results father's play interaction seems to reveal an average level and play patterns are similar to mother's. In order to ascertain definitely patterns of father-infant play interaction we need further research which has more subjects and variables to have important effects.

5.Acquired immunity in albino rats to Clonorchis sinensis.
The Korean Journal of Parasitology 1969;7(1):32-41
The present study attempted to demonstrate an acquired immunity against Clonorchis sinensis in albino rat. Three separate experiments were carried out to determine acquired resistance developed by stimulating procedure followed by challenging infection with metacercariae. Acquired resistance was evaluated by the rate of recovery or the average number of flukes recovered from the liver of challenged albino rats, compared with the controls. In drder to demonstrate the rate of recovery of the fluke, three experimental groups of rats were challenged with 50 metacercariae per rat- 7,15 and 30 days after single injection of worm extract. The recovery rate was ranged from 33.2% to 38.0% in experimental group and their control group harbored from 37.8% to 42.6%. No significant difference was found on statistical analysis. In experimental groups received two immunizing injections with worm extract followed by challenging infection of metacercariae. Statistically significant difference was recovered between experimentals and controls. It was noted that reduction of the recovery rate was prominent in Group 5 and 6, which were challenged 15 and 30 days after two stimulating injections. From the third experiment which was consisted of single immunizing infection with 20 metacercariae followed by challenging infection with 30 metacercariae, no significant reduction was found between experimental rats and their controls. The number of recovered worms ranged from 16.2 to 18.5 worms in experimental group, while that of control group ranged from 18.9 to 19.8 worms. The evidence of delayed hypersensitivity reaction was observed in the groups with acquired immunity developed rats, by histopathological study of host hepatic tissue.

7.The Relationship of Caregiving Stress, Coping Methods, Social Support and Health of the Caregivers of Patients with Cancer According to the Phases of Cancer Illness.
Journal of Korean Academy of Adult Nursing 1998;10(3):435-445
Cancer has been the leading cause of death in this country and produces high levels of stress not only in the patients themselves but also in their families. Caregiving during serious illness is a new experience for many family caregivers and social support and coping strategies have been found to reduce unfavorable health outcomes to stressful events such as cancer. The purpose of this investigation was to identify the relationship of caregiving stress, coping methods, social support, and health in caregivers of patients with cancer according to the phases of cancer illness. The subjects were 92 primary cargivers of cancer patients based on their phases of illness that consisted of 1st (initial) stage, 2nd (metastatic or recurring) stage, 3rd (terminal) stage recruited from two general hospitals in Seoul and Choongnam. The mean age of subjects was 39.1 years and 64.1% of subjects were female and 72.8% were married. The relationships to the patient were children(50%) or spouses (45.7%). According as the phase of illness progressed, caregiver's stress rose higher and their health got worse but coping methods and social support did not show a significant change. In the 1st stage the major predictors for the health of caregivers were family network support(R2=0.261, p=0.003) and the stress of the caregivers (R2=0.168, P=0.007). In the 2nd stage the most important predictor for the health of the caregivers was the stress of the caregivers (R2=0.483, P=0.000). Also in the 3rd stage the main predictor for health was the stress of the caregivers (R2=0.381, p=0.006). A better understanding of the stress process in family caregivers is needed so that nurses can provide family-centered care, taking into account caregiver, as well as patient, well-being.

9.Surgical Correction of Epididymal Obstruction.
Korean Journal of Urology 1972;13(2):107-115
During the period of 1964 to 1972, epididymovasoetomies were performed on 53 cases of azoospermias due to epididymal obstruction. They were operated by the technics of the ordinary side-to-side epididymovasostomy with splint, in such a manner that a minute longitudinal opening in the vas was anastomosed to a similar opening in the epididymis at a site where live sperm had been recovered, which was applied on 58 per cent of the subjects, and of the buried side-to-side anastomosis with a splint, wherein longitudinally opened vas ..was actually buried in longitudinally opened head of epididymis, which was attempted on 26 per cent of them. The following data are presented as abstraction of clinical findings and the operation outcomes: l. An average age of the subjects was 35, and that of their wives, 30. 2. An average duration intervening between the beginning of the obstruction and the performance of the operation was 9 years. 3. An average frequency of sexual intercourse per week indicated 2.5 times before the obstruction 2. 2 times after the obstruction, and 2. 1 times after the operation. 4. In the majority of the cases, the post-inflammatory obstructions were found to be the most responsible causes for azoospermia in my present study. That is, non-tuberculous epididymitis (gonorrheal and non-gonorrheal origin) was found in 70 per cent of the subjects and tuberculous origin, 25 per cent of them respectively. 5. Success rate of non-tuberculous epididymitis group is higher than that of tuberculous epididymitis counter part 6. Success rate of the buried technic group is higher than that of the ordinary technic group. 7. Success rate of bilateral oozes with sperm group is higher than that of unilateral oozes with sperm or no oozes group. 8. A total of 53 cases was operated upon for curing the obstructive azooepermias. Poet-operative semen analyses were carried out on 43 cases out of the 53. Sperm appeared in the ejaculates of 17 cases out of the 43 in repeated sperm tests 3 weeks following the operation. Accordingly, successful operations were showed in 40 per cent of the 43 cases. Seven pregnancies(16%) followed the operation. 9. The writer believes that epididymovasostomy could be said to be a worthwhile procedure for the cases of asooapermia due to the obstruction of globus minor with normal spermatogenesis. The prognosis is always good whenever the indications are strictly followed.
