Color developers(CD) have been noted to produce lichen planus like eruption as well as eczematous contact dermatitis. The chemicals involved are derivatives of paraphenylenediamine or aniline, i. e., Kodak CD 2, Kodak CD 3, Agfa TSS. We report a 28-year-old male who showed a feature of lichenoid contact dermatitis after exposure to color developer. Patch test revealed positive reactions to CD2, CD3 and CD4. Skin biopsy from a patch site showed lichen planus-like tissue reaction.

PURPOSE: To evaluate the usefulness in diagnosing the gallbladder perforation MATERIALS AND METHODS: CT scans of surgically proved 11 cases of gallbladder perforation were retrospectively reviewed. CT findings analyzed were iuminal diameter of GB, GB wall thickness and configuration, presence or absence of fluid collection in the pericholecystic or intraperitoneal space, and observation of pericholecystic anatomic structures. All patients underwent cholecystectomy, and surgical findings were also compared. RESULTS: The GB was distended in 6 cases(55% with a range of 4.0-7.5cm, mean :5.2cm). GB wall was thickened in most cases(9/11,82%) with homogeneous(n=7) or inhomogeneous(n=2) enhancement. At the sites of perforation, focal defect or contour bulging was seen in the GB wall in 3 cases. in 2 cases with gangrene, GB wall showed loss of normal contour with mottled contrast enhancement. Pericholecystic or intraperitoneal fluid co11ection was noted in 9 cases(82%), especially in the region of perforation. In all cases, there was evidence of diffuse infiltration in the pericholecystic space, omenturn or mesentery. Other findings included cholecy-stoenteric fistula in 1 case, and intrahepatic or intraperitoneal abscess formation in 2 cases. CONCLUSION: CT is useful in correct diagnosis of gallbladder perforation.

Moriccas technique, neuroadenolysis of the pituitary gland through direct injection of alcohol, was performed 5 times on three cancer patients at chonnam university hospital. Two of the three patients had complete pain relief. During this procedure there was no any severe complications except diabetes insipidus, but it was treated uneventfully with indomethacin and fluid administration. Although several theories including destructiorr of the thalamic and hypothalamic nerve pathway, pituitary hormone and endorphin on the mechanism of pain relief by the neuroadenolysis have been reported, it is still not clearly determined. This technique is considered to be an exceedingly useful method for management of intractable pain in inoperable cancer patients.

Malignant transformation of benign cystic teratomas of the ovary is rare, with an incidence rate of 1-3%. The most common malignancy associated with benign cystic teratoma of the ovary is squamous cell carcinoma, which represents 90% of malignant transformations, followed by adenocarcinoma and carcinoid. Primary malignant neuroectodermal tumor in a mature cystic teratoma is extremely rare and microscopically can be subclassified as differentiated, primitive, and anaplatic. We experienced a case of primitive neuroectodermal tumor (PNET) associated with mature cystic teratoma of the ovary in a 11-year-old girl. Grossly, the ovary was a unilocular cyst which contained sebum material and disclosed several large, yellow to gray-tan polypoid excresences attached to the inner cystic wall. Except a large, fish-flesh, soft mass, the other polypoid masses were covered with sebum and contained small pieces of cartilage and tooth, and microscopically represented as mature teratoma. The large, fish-flesh, soft mass disclosed sheets and lobules of closely packed small cells with thin fibrovascular septa, which frequently replacing and encroaching the mature cystic teratoma. The small tumor cells were uniform and made up of round to oval nuclei with coarse chromatin and prominent nucleoli, very similar to those of PNET of the central nervous system.

Background: The purpose of this study was to investigate the differences of readiness for interporfessional learning before and after applying a simulation-based interprofessional education (sim-IPE) program among medical and nursing students. Methods: This study used one-group pretest-posttest design. A sim-IPE program was implemented for 94 medical and 41 nursing students during half a day. The program was consisted of team building games, simulation, board games, and case discussion. The readiness for interprofessional learning scale (RIPLS) which is a 5-point Likert type and has four domains was used to assess students’ perceptions pre- and post-IPE program. Also, students were requested to write three words that immediately came to mind when they saw a word of ‘teamwork’. Data were analyzed by frequency, mean and standard deviation, paired t-test, and Cronbach’s alpha. Results: A total scores of RIPLS significantly increased from 78.3 to 86.7 points after implementing a simulation-based IPE program (t=-14.80, p<.001). Among the most submitted words by students, a ranking of ‘communication’ has risen from fifth pre-IPE to second post-IPE. Conclusions Based on the results form our study, a simulation-based IPE program provides a very valuable educational opportunity for students to increase positive attitude to interprofessional learning. A variety of IPE programs should be developed and incorporated in all healthcare professional curriculums.

PURPOSE: To analyse unusual radiologic manifestations of colonic adenocarcinoma, and to correlate these with pathologic findings. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Radiologic findings of ten patients with atypical adenocarcinoma ofthe colon were retrospectively evaluated. The unusual radiologic findings were difined as terminal ileal involvement of the cecal mass, long segmental involvement of over 9cm, and exophytic tumor growth. radiologic and sonographic findings were compared with pathologic specimens obtained from surgical resection. RESULTS: Involvement of the terminal ileum was noted in three cases, long segmental involvement of over 11cm in five cases, and exophytic mass in two. Of three cases with thickening of the terminal ileum, two revealed the infiltration of cancer into the terminal ileum through the ileocecal valve, and the other revealed vascular congestion and edemaon microscopic examination. Five cases with long segmental involvement of over 11cm comprised one of cancer totally infiltrated through the submucosal and proper muscle layer, one of inflammatory thickening distal to thecancer, two of inflammatory change of pericolic fat and serosal adhesion and one of a large intraluminal fungatingmass. In the cases of exophytic mass, one with a larger extraluminal and a smaller intraluminal component revealed necrosis and abscess on pathologic examination, accounting for low attenuation on CT, whereas the other, with exophytic growth, disclosed abundant pools of mucin, resulting in low attenuation on CT. These two cases could notbe differentiated from submucosal tumors. CONCLUSION: Atypical colon cancer may have various manifestations, suchas thickening of the terminal ileum, involvement of a long segment, and an exophytically growing mass. An appreciation of the radiologic findings of this cancer may therefore help in differential diagnosis in cases simulating colitis or submucosal tumors of the colon, such as lymphoma or leiomyoma.
