The Korean Journal of Parasitology 2001;39(1):67-75
This experiment was focused on the characterization of anti-Toxoplasma monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) and the effect of mAbs on the parasite invasion of mouse peritoneal macrophages. Twenty eight mAbs including M110, M556, R7A6 and M621 were characterized by Ab titer, immunoglobulin isotyping and western blot pattern. Antibody titer (optical density) of 4 mAbs, M110, M556, R7A6 and M621, were 0.53, 0.67, 0.45 and 0.39 (normal mouse serum; 0.19) with the same IgG1 isotypes shown by Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Western blot analysis showed that M110, M556, R7A6 and M621 reacted with the 33 kDa (p30), 31 kDa (p28), 43 kDa and 36 kDa protein. Immunogold labelling of mAbs M110, M556, R7A6 and M621 reacted with the surface membrane, dense granules and parasitophorous vacuolar membrane (PVM), rhoptries and cytoplasm of tachyzoite, respectively. For in vitro assay, preincubation of tachyzoites with four mAbs, M110, M556, R7A6 and M621 resulted in the decrease of the number of infected macrophages (P < 0.05) and the suppression of parasite multiplication at 18 h post-infection. Four monoclonal antibodies including M110 (SAG1) were found to have an important role in the inhibition of macrophage invasion and T. gondii multiplication in vitro, and these mAbs may be suitable for vaccine candidates, diagnostic kit and for chemotherapy.

5.Study Review of Horticultural Therapy As a Nursing Intervention.
Journal of Korean Academy of Adult Nursing 2001;13(3):409-419
The reference study was performed to investigate the nursing importance which was based a theoretical background related to horticultural therapy and to examine the possibility which horticultural therapy was applicable as a nursing intervention through analysis on a preceding study. The research subjects related to the areas of horticultural therapy which related as a nursing intervention, were psychological, physical, environmental, and psycho-social aspects. It is judged that the horticultural therapy is effective in treating depression, emotional disruption or anxiety. It seems to be also effective in increasing the muscular tension and, thereby, expanding the scope of joint movements. Such theories show that horticultural therapy may be a good alternative nursing means. Plants act to create a pleasant interior atmosphere by generating anion, controlling the temperature and humidity and purifying the air, and therefore, the horticultural therapy may be applied to clinic or environmental therapy. When horticultural therapy is used as a nursing intervention, patients' socio-psychological needs may be fulfilled. It has been found that horticultural therapy is instrumental in treating perceptive or emotional disruption, depression, loss of self-respect, disrupted everyday activities and social behaviors. In particular, horticultural therapy seems to be effective in managing chronic patients' crisis or improving life quality. Intervention method applied on a preceding study was activity therapy and scene therapy in the horticultural therapy The above findings suggest that the pro-environmental horticultural therapy is useful as a new paradigm of nursing or holistic nursing conducive to improvement of health. So, it is desirable to prove its effects by applying it in the clinic. In order to apply horticultural therapy as a nursing intervention, it will be necessary to educate nurses on principles and methods of horticultural therapy and encourage them to apply it in nursing and clinics. Moreover, it may well be necessary to develop landscape therapy as nursing intervention as well as a variety of horticultural therapy programs befitting the clinic conditions. On the other hand, we need to provide for some scientific ground for horticultural therapy through continued studies. In this regard, this study which focuses on patients' health improvement through change of environment. may well provide for a framework for such studies.

The Journal of the Korean Orthopaedic Association 1997;32(3):523-529
Pelvic bone is complex in its shape, so we often miss to find the fractures in cases with unclear fracture line. We studied 25 patients who were suspected to have occult fractures in pelvic area. We were able to find lots of occult fractures with bone scan followed by CT scan. The results were as follows; 1. There were 31 unexpected hot spots in 25 patients in bone scan. 2. Six cases (19.3%j of new injuries were found on re-evaluation of plain film or additionally rechecked plain films. 3. Twenty-one new fractures (67.7%) were found on CT film study. 4. Total 27 additional fractures (89.1%) were found after bone scan followed CT scan. In conclusion Bone Scan followed by CT is a effective method of detecting occult fracture in pelvic area.

9.Transscleral Diode Laser Retinopexy in Retinal Detachment Surgery.
Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1999;40(6):1591-1598
Authors performed transscleral diode laser retinopexy to evaluate its safety and efficacy in human eyes. Transscleral diode laser retinopexy was performed on 75 human eyes of rhegmatogenous retinal detachment. Power setting ranged from 400 to 1,000 mW, duration setting ranged from 0.5 to 1.0 second, and average 107 laser spots(range 15-443 laser spots) were applied. Seventy four of 75 eyes(98.7%) achieved anatomical success in reattachment after 6 months follow-up period. Complications of treatment encountered were minor Bruch's membrane rupture in 2 eyes, small retinal hemorrhage in one eye and mild scleral thermal burn in one eye. These complications did not affect adversely the surgical results. Among the 75 eyes, 21 eyes underwent diode laser choroidotomy for drainage of subretinal fluid with success. Transscleral diode laser retinopexy was considered as a safe and effective mean to obtain chorioretinal adhesion in retinal detachment surgery.

Korean Journal of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy 1988;8(1):29-32
Early gastric cancer is defined carcinoma that is limited to the gastric mucosa and submucosa and that does not extend into the muscularis propria. The development and widespread use of upper gnstrointestinal endoscopy with biopsy and cytology have enhanced our ability to make early diagnosis of gastrie carcinoma. Gastric cancinoma is being diagnosed at an ealry stage aad the survival rates for these patients are significantly greater than those with advanced gastric carcinoma. These ealry lesion can be cured in over 90% of the cases. In fact, it is almost impossible to follow up cases of early gastric cancer without surgical treatment. We report a case developed advanced gastric carcinoma 34 months after initial endoseopic diagnosis of early gastric cancer. A, 48-year-old woman was diagnosed early gaatrie cancer on June 21, 1985 by endoscopy. Proper surgical intetvention was not carried out due to her liver cirrhosis. The follow-up endoscopic examination was done on March 16, 1988. The gastric cancer looked like an advanced stomach and extended to other site.
