Objective To analyze the constituent ratio and clinical characteristics of spine trauma and spinal cord injury of the survivors in the Sichuan earthquake.Methods198 cases wounded in the Sichuan earthquake were divided into four groups according to age for collecting the type of fracture, nerve damage, spinal fractures combined injuries of data from multiple sites, analyzing their clinical characteristics.ResultsFracture types are most common compression fractures (49.3%), followed by the burst fractures (45.9%). 105 of them had spinal cord injury, ASIA grade: A grade: 20 cases, B Grade: 18 cases, C grade: 25 cases, D Grade: 42 cases. 41 cases had combined injury. T12, L1, and L2 vertebral fractures were common types.ConclusionCompression fractures and burst fractures as spinal injuries occurred commonly in Sichuan earthquake mainly in the 18~65 years old, and spinal cord injury accounted for 53.03% spinal injury.

Objective To observe the therapeutic efficacy and safety of recombinant tissue-type plasminogen activator (rt-PA) combined with edaravone on acute cerebral infarction (ACI).Methods 60 cases of ACI were divided into rt-PA group (30 cases, treated by rt-PA only) and trial group (30 cases, treated with rt-PA combined with edaravone). The nerve function deficits of patients in both groups were evaluated by European Stroke Scale (ESS) and Barthel Index (BI) before and after treatment respectively. Results The ESS scores at 21st day and 90th day after treatment in the trial group were significantly higher than those of the patients in the rt-PA group. The effective rate of patients in the trial group was significantly higher than those in the rt-PA group (P<0.05).Conclusion The treatment of rt-PA combined with edaravone is effective and safe in patients with ACI.

Objective To investigate the epidemiological features of fractures caused by earthquake to elevate the quality of prevention and treatment and reduce the mortality and disability rate. Methods A retrospectire study was performed on the data of 1 262 patients with fractures caused by earthquake from May 12,2008 to Aug 31,2008.The following data was statistically analyzed:cause of injury, injured part, associated injuries and treatment.Resultsof the 1 262 cases,11 resulted in deaths;bruise and crush trauma was the major cause (93.98%)of casualties;fractures oflimbs were the main types(55.7%)of fracture;operation was the major treatment.Concluslon Correct treatment is important for fractures caused by earthquake to reduce mortality and disability rate.

Objective To investigate the mental health and its influential factors in wounded or disabled in patients 100 d after earthquake. Methods Sixty-one patients, sampled from inpatients who were wounded or disa bled during the earthquake and hospitalized 100 d,were assessed with SCL-90.Results Twenty-eight(45%) patients'scores of SCL-90 were>160.The mental health of wounded or disabled patients after earthquake WaS corre lated with the severity of themselves physical disability.acception of early psychological intervention and the condition of wound or death in family members;but was not correlated with age, gender and education. Conclusion Patients who were wounded or disabled during earthquake had high incidences of mental disorder 100 d after earthquake.Their psychological recovery is as important ag physical recovery.

Objective To explore the affect of acupuncture cooperating with Bobath approach on the spasticity after stroke. Methods 83 patient were divided into treatment group (42 cases) and control group (41 cases). On basis of conventional treatment, the treatment group accepted acupuncture and Bobath approach while the control group accepted a Bobath approach only. They were assessed with Modified Ashworth Scale before and 8 weeks after treatment. Results 8 weeks after treatment, the spasticity reduced in both groups, but more in the treatment group (P<0.05).Conclusion Acupuncture can facilitate the efficacy of Bobath approach on spasticity after stroke.

To investigate the security of semen biologically, 15 bull semen samples were collected (of which 5 exhibited clinical signs of Foot-and-mouth disease) and identified by RT-PCR and virus isolation. The results indicated that the semen of the infected bulls were contaminated by Foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV), but FMDV was not detected in semen samples from those bulls not showing clinical signs of Foot-and-mouth disease (FMD). This is the first report of the presence of FMDV in bull semen due to natural infection in China. The analysis of the partial sequence of the VP1 gene showed that the virus strain isolated from semen has 97.9% identity with the virus isolated from vesicular liquid of infected bulls showing typical signs of FMD and belonged to the same gene sub-group.

OBJECTIVETo compare the effect and differences sex the influence of hormone levels of perimenopau-sal syndrome patients between manual acupuncture and electroacupuncture (EA).
METHODSA total of 50 cases with perimenopausal syndrome were randomly assigned into an manual acupuncture group (27 cases) and an EA group (23 cases), and 1 case dropped in the EA group. The acupoints in the two groups were Guanyuan (CV 4), Zigong (EX-CA 1), Tianshu (ST 25), and Sanyinjiao (SP 6). Acupuncture with 3-time small and even manipulation of lifting, thrusting and twirling was used in the acupuncture group, once 10 min. EA with sparse-dense wave and 10 Hz/50 Hz was applied in the EA group for 30 min. The treatments in the two groups were for continuous 8 weeks (24 times in total), once the other day, 3 times a week. The scores of 24-hour hot flashes even, menopausal rating scale (MRS) and menopause-specific quality of life questionnaire (MENQOL) were recorded before treatment and after 4-week and 8-week treatment, as well as 12 and 24 weeks after treatment. Serum sex hormone levels were tested before and after 8-week treatment as well as 12 weeks after treatment, including serum follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), and estracliol (E).
RESULTSCompared with those before treatment, the 24-hour hot flashes even score, MRS and MENQOL scores were significantly lower after 4-week and 8-week treatments, 12 and 24 weeks after treatment (all<0.05). All the above scores after 8-week treatment were lower than those after 4-week treatment (all<0.05); and the scores 12 and 24 weeks after treatment were lower than those after 4-week and 8-week treatments (all<0.05); all the scores after treatment were not significantly different at any time between the two groups (all>0.05). Compared with those before treatment, serum FSH and Eapparently improved in the two groups after 8-week treatment and 12 weeks after treatment (all<0.05). LH levels did not significantly change in the two groups (all>0.05). All the serum sex hormone levels showed no significant difference between the two groups (all>0.05).
CONCLUSIONSBoth acupuncture and EA can improve perimenopausal symptoms and serum sex hormone. The effects are similar.
