Aim To investigate the effect of genistein ( GEN) against Aβ( 25 -35 )-induced PC12 cells in regulation of Fas pathway through the activation of JNK. Methods Aβ( 25 -35 )-induced PC12 cells model was established. MTT and fluorescence activated cell sorting to analyze cell viability and apoptotic rate. Fluorescence quantitative PCR was used to detect Fas apoptotic pathways related gene Fas, FasL, caspase-3 and caspase-8 mRNA relative expression. Spectropho-tometry was used to detect caspase-3 and caspase-8 en-zyme activity. Western blot was adopted to detect JNK and p-JNK protein expression level changes. Results GEN attenuated Aβ( 25-35 )-induced upregulation of Fas and FasL, caspase-3 and caspase-8 mRNA lev-el, caspase-3 and caspase-8 enzyme activity, and sig-nificantly reduced Aβ(25-35) induced JNK phospho-rylation level. Conclusion GEN can protect PC12 cells from Aβ(25-35)-induced apoptosis via reducing Aβ( 25 -35 )-induced phosphorylation of JNK activa-tion, and then inhibit the JNK dependent Fas apoptotic pathway.

Crocetin, a naturally occurring carotenoid, possesses antioxidant and antiatherosclerotic properties, of which the underlying mechanism remains unclear. In the present study, we examined the effects of crocetin (0.1, 1, 10 μmol·L(-1)) on angiotensin II (Ang II, 0.1 μmol·L(-1)) induced expression of vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 (VCAM-1) in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) and monocyte-endothelial cell adhesion. The effects of crocetin on the activation of nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) and intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) were also observed. The results demonstrated that crocetin notably suppressed Ang II induced NF-κB activation (P<0.01) and VCAM-1 expression (P<0.05, P<0.01) in HUVECs, accompanied by a markedly reduced monocyte-endothelial cell adhesion (P<0.05, P<0.01). In addition, preincubation with crocetin resulted in a significant enhancement of cellular antioxidant capacity (P<0.05, P<0.01), while Ang II induced intracellular ROS decreased markedly (P<0.05, P<0.01). These results indicated that crocetin was capable of suppressing Ang II induced VCAM-1 expression and monocyte-endothelial cell adhesion by suppression of NF-κB activation, which might be derived from the enhancement of antioxidant capacity and subsequent reduction of intracellular ROS.

OBJECTIVETo analyze the clinical effect and related risk factors of Gartland type II-III supracondylar fractures of humerus in children in the emergency closed reduction and percutaneous Kirschner wire fixation.
METHODSFrom January 2008 to June 2013,112 children of Gartland type II to III supracondylar humeral fractures were treated in children in emergency closed reduction and percutaneous K-wire fixation, including 72 males and 40 females with an average age of 6.2 years old ranging from 2 to 11 years old. Among them,74 cases were in Gartland type II fractures,38 cases were in type III; The duration from injury to surgery time was 2.5 to 8 hours (averaged 4.6 hours). Elbow cast was applied after operation with the elbow extended of 100 degrees for 4 to 6 weeks, then the gypsum and Kirschner wires were removed.
RESULTSAll patients were follow-up from 6 to 60 months (averaged 12 months). All fractures reached clinical healing. The final follow-up was assessed by Flynn criteria, the result was excellent in 86 cases, good in 23 cases, general in 3 cases, excellent and good rate was 97.3%. Three patients had mild cubitus varus deformity without orthopedic treatment. No pin tract infections, iatrogenic ulnar nerve injury, compartment syndrome, and complications such as Volkmann ischemic contracture occurred.
CONCLUSIONClosed reduction and percutaneous Kirschner wire fixation had advantages of exact reduction, firm fixation, fewer complications ,less pain in children undergoing emergency surgery, and.high success rate, so it is a safe and efficient treatment for humeral supracondylar fracture in children.

UNLABELLEDObjective: In order to assess the integrative cardiopulmonary function after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in patients with stable coronary artery disease (CAD), we used symptom limited maximum cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET).
METHODSAll 59 patients diagnosed stable CAD by coronary angiography and echocardiography from August to December of 2014 in our hospital, were divided two groups. PCI group, 31 patients received PCI and drugs. Control group, 28 patients received drugs therapy only. All patients performed CPET before and after the treatment.
RESULTSAll patients safely completed CPET without any complications. The control group, all functional parameters were unchanged (P > 0.05). PCI group, the anaerobic threshold, peak oxygen uptake and peak oxygen pulse increased significantly (P < 0.05) from baseline, but not for others (P > 0.05). For individual analysis, PCI group had higher rates of increase (≥ 10% of baseline) in both peak oxygen uptake and peak oxygen pulse than those of control group (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONCPET is an objective, quantitative, safe and effective method to evaluate the clinical therapeutic efficiency. PCI can improve the integrative cardiopulmonary function in CAD patients.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the diagnostic value of MRI in radial head fracture with forearm interosseous membrane injuries.
METHODSFrom December 2011 to December 2012,26 patients with fractures of capitulum radial in our hospital were collected. There were 15 males and 11 females, ranging in age from 21 to 53 years old, with an average of 37.6 years old. All the patients visited hospital within 72 hours after injuries. X-ray radiography of full ulnar radial length in injured side, CT in injured side (three-dimensional reconstruction if necessary) and MRI (including the elbow and wrist joints) were performed within a week after the injury. The MRI manifestations of the forearm interosseous membrane (with or without damage, the injured location and the injury degree ) and the fractures degree of radial head were observed and compared for the relativity.
RESULTSRadial head fracture from Mason type I to III was associated with the forearm interosseous membrane injury. Radial head fracture degree was positive correlated with forearm interosseous membrane injury degree (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONRadial head fracture with suspicious forearm interosseous membrane injury is necessary to take MRI for checking for any interosseous membrane injury and injury degree, then choose the right treatment for radial capitulum fracture, only in this way can be helpful for the functional recovery of elbow and forearm.

Objective To discuss the influence of new weapons in the high-tech war on eye wounds in order to develop the new time-effect treatment strategy. Methods The data of wounds in recent wars were investigated, the causes of eye wounds in high-tech war were analyzed, and the new concept of time effect treatment strategy for eye wounds was proposed. Results The weapons in high-tech war have developed into mass destruction and precisely guided munitions. The main cause of eye wounds is the shrapnel and some new wounds will occur such as eye wounds caused by laser or chemical toxin, radiation cataract. Conclusion In the future high-tech war, the major type of eye-wounds may still be the explosion injury and some new types of eye wounds should be paid more attention. The time-effect treatment strategy should be implemented to meet the demand of improving eye wound therapy and promoting the development of ophthalmology.

PurposeTo investigate the effect of gasoline on the skin barrier function.MethodsA rat skin model in vitro was used in this study. The amount of 3H-water penetrated throught the skin was applied as the index of evaluating the barrier function.ResultsThe results showed that the amount of 3H-water was not obviously increased in those exposed to gasoline for 0.5,1 and 2 h(P > 0.05), but the 3H-water penetration amount through the skin increased linearly with the time. In the group exposed to gasoline 4 h, the 3H-water penetration amount through the skin was significantly higher than that in the control group (P 0.05). The skin barrier function of the group (expopsed to gasoline 4 h) was disrupted. Conclusions Gasoline may disrupt the skin barrier function. Gasoline would remove the lipids within the intercellular domains of the stratum corneum and then lead to damage the skin.
