The ralationship between traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and intestinal microecology is increasingly being given more and more attention. Combined with the devolopment of intestinal microecology disciplines, effects of TCM on regulation of intestinal microecology have been gradually explained. Both clinical studies and animal experiments have confirmed that TCM can maintain the balance of intestinal microecology and regulate the intestinal flora. The author arrangemented the documents related to Chinese herbal compound adjusting intestinal flora in the recent ten years, summarized that the Chinese herbal compound which can strength spleen and replenish Qi, relax bowels and regulate Qi, dissipate dampness and check diarrhea, clear away heat and toxic materials, promote digestion and relieve stasis had certain regulation effects on intestinal microecology, providing basis for revealing the TCM essence of intestinal microecology.

Objective To evaluate the value of whole body 18F-FDG PET/CT in the detection of recurrence/metastasis of cervical cancer.Methods A retrospective study was performed on 95 patients with cervical cancer who underwent 18F-FDG PET/CT after treatment.The lesion characteristics on 18F-FDG PET/CT were assessed visually and semi-quantitatively.A final diagnosis was confirmed by histopathology,diagnostic treatment and clinical follow-up imaging.The data were analyzed by Kappa test.Results 18 F-FDG PET/CT was positive in 54 patients,including 24 with local recurrence and 30 with distant metastases.The sensitivity,specificity and accuracy of 18F-FDG PET/CT for the detection of recurrence/metastasis of cervical cancer were 98.1％ (52/53),95.2％ (40/42) and 96.8％ (92/95),respectively.The positive predictive and negative predictive value were 96.3％ (52/54) and 97.6％ (40/41),respectively.18F-FDG PET/CT showed concordant results with pathological/clinical follow-up findings (Kappa =0.936,P＜0.05).Conclusion 18F-FDG PET/CT is a sensitive and specific modality for the detection of recurrence/metastasis of cervical cancer and might be useful for further treatment plan.

BACKGROUND: To search for an alloxenogeneic bone with good load bearing function and osteoblastic activity for treating bone defects is an important study issue. We have made a comparative study on its biome chanical characteristics and found that there was no significant difference in maximum load stress, maximum pressure as compared with fresh bone of the same size. Clinicians are concerned about the osteoblastic activity and whether the osteoblastic activity can be reserved after human allogenous a cellular bone (HAB) loaded with bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs). OBJECTIVE: To investigate the experimental effect of HAB loaded with induced BMSCs, and observe the cellular adherence and growth as well as detect its osteoblastic activity. DESIGN: Single sample experiment. SETTING: Second Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University. MATERIALS: This experiment was conducted at the Experimental Center of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University between January 2003 and August 2004. HAB was obtained from fresh corpse iliac bones (donated voluntarily). METHODS: Connective tissues and cell compounds of the iliac bones were removed by processing with hydroperoxide andether solution and sterilized for preparing HAB. BMSCs from living femoral shaft bone marrow were cultured immediately in ordinary and mineralized medium containing DMEM, fetal bovine serum, dexomethasone, β-glycerophophate and ascor bic acid. Proliferation and differentiation of bone stromal cells were deter mined by detecting the level of alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and osteocalcin (OCN) in the culture medium. Induced bone stromal cells solution was condensed and implanted within HAB scaffold. Cellular osteoblastic activ ity was determined through morphological observation under the light mi croscope and electron microscope as well as biochemical index detection. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: ① Detection results of ALP and OCN of BMSCs/HAB composite. ② Histological observation results of BMSCs/ HAB composite. RESULTS: ① Iliac bone block cells were cleaned with good reservation of bone matrix. ② The level of ALP and OCN of MSCs was higher after in ducing for 8 days than that in control group [MSCs after induction: (181.54±40.01) nkat/L, (7.2±1.3) μg/L. There was no method to detect the level in control group, P ＜ 0.05]. ③ BMSCs were adhered and grew well in HAB scaffold. CONCLUSION: HAB loaded with induced BMSCs has an excellent os teogenic function in vitro and shows an effective potential as a good bone tissue engineering material.

Objective To investigate the relationship of the expression of phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase(PI3K)subunits,P85 and P110 to the pathogenesis of psoriasis.Methods Immunohistochemical staining for P85 and P110 was performed in the tissue specimens from patients with psoriasis(n=30),chronic dermatitis(n=20),seborrheic keratosis(n=20),squamous cell carcinoma(n=20),basal cell carcinoma(n=30)and normal human controls(n=10).The absorbance of immunostained tissue was quantified with image analysis system (Q550CW,Leica,Manheim,Germany).Statistical analysis was carried out by ANOVA,Results Among these groups,a significant difference was observed in the expression level of P110 in the epidermis(F=35.64,P＜0.01),as well as in that of P85(F=59.98,P＜0.01)and P110(F=323.23,P＜0.01)in the lymphocytes infiltrating the lesion.Increased expression of P110 was found in the epidermis of psoriatic lesions compared with the lesions in the other disorders,whereas no significant difference was noticed among the other disorders.In the case of P85 and P110 expression in the lesion-infiltrating lymphocytes infiltrating the lesion,psoriasis and squamous cell carcinoma significantly differed from the other disorders,while no difference was observed between psoriasis and squamous cell carcinoma (P＞0.05).Conclusions The high expression of P110 might be closely correlated to the hyperproliferation of keratinocytes;but filrther study is needed to clarify the relationship of increased expression of P85 and P110 to the activation and proliferation of lymphocytes in psoriatic lesions.

Objective To analyze the pregnant outcome of women with chronic hypertension,and to investigate the high risk factors associated with harmful maternal and perinatal prognosis.Methods Of the 14127 deliveries in Peking University First Hospital from Jan 2001 to Dec 2005,121 pregnant women with chronic hypertension were identified and divided into two groups:chronic hypertension with and without preeclampsia(group PE,64 cases;group N-PE,57 cases).The maternal and perinatal outcomes of the two groups and the high risk factors for adverse maternal and perinatal prognosis were analyzed.Results(1) The incidence of pregnancy with chronic hypertension was 0.86%(121/14127).(2)The incidences of placental abruption,pulmonary edema and retinopathy in groups PE and N-PE were 16%(10/64)vs 2% (1/57),11%(7/64)vs 0 and 41%(26/64)vs 16%(9/57,P
