Objective To evaluate the clinical value of ulinastatin on the treatment of systemic inflammatory response syndrome in severe acute panereatitis. Method Eighty-four patients with severe a-cute pancreatitis were randomly divided into two groups. In the treatment group (42 cases),on the base of routine treatment, ulinastatin was administered intravenously for seven days after hospitalization, while in the control group only routine treatment was given (42 cases) to. Inflammatory factors in serum, the change of liver function and renal function were measured in two groups before and after the treatment, and the clinical efficacy were observed. Results There was significant difference, in the serum level of tumor necrosis factor-α, interleukin-1, interleukin-6, alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase, blood urea nitrogen and creatinine on the 7th day between two groups (P < 0.05 or < 0.01 ) ,there were significant differences in the incidence of complications, hospitalization time, incidence of multi-organ failure between two groups [14.3%(6/42) vs 38.1%(16/42), (29.4 ± 1.5)d vs (34.4 ± 1.8)d, 28.6%(12/42) vs 47.6%(20/42), P<0.01 or <0.05 ]. Conclusions Ulinastatin can suppress the secretion and release of some inflammatory factors, protect the important viscera functions and reduce the incidence of complications, and it has favorable clinical efficacy.

Objective To investigate the percentage of CD5-positive B cells in peripheral blood mononuclear cells(PBMC) of patients with chronic HCV infection and its clinical significance. Methods The expression of CD5 molecule on B cell surface was detected by flow cytometry and HCV RNA copies were detected by real-time PCR.Results The percentage of CD5+-B cells significantly increased in the patients with chronic HCV infection(58.4%?9.8%) compared with healthy controls(22.5%?5.9%)(P

Objective To explore the expression of EphB4 and VEGF in esophageal cancer tissues and their relationship with microvessel density (MVD ) ,and analysis the curative effect of postoperative esophageal cancer radical under thoracoscope . Methods Theexpression of EphB4 and VEGF was detected by immunohistochemistry in tumor specimens from 76 cases of esopha-geal squamous cell carcinoma and paratumor normal specimens ,used CD34 as marker to count MVD .According to the situation of expression of EphB4 and VEGF ,we analysis their relationship with lymph node metastasis rate ,recurrence and 5-year survival rate . Results The positive expression rate of EphB4 and VEGF in cancerous tissue (57 .89% and 61 .84% ) ,were significantly higher than that in tissue adjacent to carcinoma(0 and 7 .89% )(P<0 .05) .The positive expression rate ofEphB4 and VEGF in high MVD values of patients (67 .44% and 76 .19% ) ,were significantly higher than thatin low MVD values of patients (45 .45% and 44 .11% )(P<0 .05) .The positive expression rate ofEphB4 and VEGF in the patientswith lymph node metastasis group and associ-ated with recurrence ,were significantly higher than that of group without lymph node metastasis and group without recurrence (P<0 .05) .The positive expression rate of EphB4 and VEGF in patients of greater than or equal to 5 years of survival rate(45 .00% and 45 .45% ) ,were significantly lower than in patientsof Less than 5 years of survival rate (80 .36% and 85 .19% )(P<0 .05) .Conclu-sion EphB4 and VEGF are highly expressed in esophageal cancer tissue ,which may be closely associated withmicrovessel density , and lymph node metastasis ,recurrence and 5 years survival rate ;the curative effect of positive expression rate of EphB 4 and VEGF is poor .

Three osmotolerant yeasts were isolated from three batches of "swollen can" soy sauce produced by a Guangdong condiment plant. These strains grew faster in the media containing 50%~60% glucose or 15% NaCl than in common yeast media. The three yeasts were identified as Pichia etchellsii by using morphological characteristics, physiological and biochemical tests.

AIM:To explore the molecular mechanism through which curcumin reverses hepatocyte growth factor (HGF)-induced resistance to gefitinib in lung cancer cells.METHODS:The methods of MTT assay, wound healing assay and Western blot were used to observe the effects of HGF, curcumin and gefitinib on the migration, drug susceptibility, epithelial-mesenchymal transition, and related signaling pathways in the PC9 lung cancer cells.RESULTS:HGF reduced susceptibility of the PC9 cells to gefitinib, and curcumin significantly reversed HGF-induced resistance to gefitinib.HGF induced migration and epihelial-mesenchymal transition, and promoted c-Met/AKT/mTOR pathway activation in the PC9 cells.Gefitinib alone did not prevent the above activities. However, combined with curcumin, gefitinib prevented the above activities.CONCLUSION:Curcumin reverses HGF-induced resistance of the PC9 cells to gefitinib by preventing epithelial-mesenchymal transition and inhibiting c-Met/AKT/mTOR activation.
