Adulterants and counterfeits were found in some of the commercial traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) decoctions in Hongjin Xiaojie Jiaonang, Hongjin Xiaojie Pian, and Chaihuang Keli during the national drug sampling inspection. However, it was difficult to determine the species of the adulterants and counterfeits by conventional testing methods. Therefore, a total of 184 samples of the TCM decoctions and raw materials belong to the prescriptions of above mentioned traditional Chinese patent medicines, including Bupleuri Radix, Bajiaolian, Heimayi, and Shufuchong, were collected and authenticated by DNA barcoding technology. 111 ITS2 sequences were obtained from 115 commercial TCM decoctions and raw materials of Bupleuri Radix, among which 71 were Bupleurum chinense, three were B. scorzonerifolium, and 31 were closely related species in the same genus. In addition, counterfeits derived from different genera, such as Ailanthus altissima (one sample), Saposhnikovia divaricate (two samples), and Solidago decurrens (three samples), were also detected. 21 ITS2 sequences were obtained from 22 commercial TCM raw materials of Bajiaolian, among which 15 were Diphylleia sinensis and six were Dysosma versipellis and other species in genus Dysosma. For 22 Heimayi samples, PCR amplification of COI sequence was failed due to genomic DNA degradation. Among 38 Shufuchong samples, 24 COI sequences were obtained and only nine of them were the genuine species (Armadillidium vulgare) recorded in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia, 11 were Porcellio laevis, two were Mongoloniscus sinensis, and two samples could not be identified due to the limitation of database. This study demonstrates that DNA barcoding technology is suitable for the species authentication of the decoctions of traditional Chinese patent medicine prescription. It is a conductive way for the establishment of traceability system for the whole TCM industrial chain.

Objective :To explore influence on prognosis in patients with coronary critical lesion assessed by coronary angiography (CAG) ,CAG combined coronary fractional flow reserve test (FFR) and CAG combined frequency do-main optical coherence tomography (FD-OCT ).Methods : Patients with coronary critical lesion who don't need stenting were screened by three detection programs , they were divided into CAG group (n＝ 45 , only received CAG) ,CAG+ FFR group (n＝45 ,received CAG+FFR) and CAG+ FD-OCT group (n＝45 ,received CAG+ FD-OCT).All three groups received secondary prevention of stable coronary heart disease for half a year .Incidence rates of angina pectoris (aggravated ) ,myocardial infarction and target vessel revascularization rate were observed and compared among three groups .Results :Compared with CAG group ,there were significant reductions in inci-dence rates of angina pectoris (33.3% vs.4.4%,6.7%) ,myocardial infarction (20.0% vs.4.4%,2.2%) and target vessel revascularization rate (26.6% vs.6.7%,2.2%) in CAG+FFR group and CAG+FD-OCT group ,P＜0.05 or ＜0.01. There were no significant difference between CAG + FFR group and CAG+ FD-OCT group , P＞0.05 all.Conclusion : Compared with pure CAG ,CAG combined FFR or FD-OCT can more effectively assess cardi-ac blood supply ,and improvement prognosis in patients with critical lesion .

Abstract?AIM: To investigate the risk factors and prognosis of posterior capsular rupture in phacoemulsification cataract surgery through analyzing the cataract patients in our hospital.?METHODS:Totally 1825 patients (1912 eyes) treated in our hospital were selected from November 2012 to November 2015. The patients with posterior capsular rupture were as observation group.Control group was randomly selected with a 1: 4 ratio in patients without posterior capsular rupture.All the patient's age, gender, type of cataract, ocular disease history, other medical history, surgical history, preoperative intraocular pressure, the eyes affected, the health situation, visual acuity at 1d before and after surgery and other factors were recorded and analyzed for risk factors and prognosis.?RESULTS: Statistical results showed gender, type of cataract, preoperative intraocular pressure, history of tobacco and alcohol, eyes affected and other factors did not impact on the rupture rate ( P>0.05 ); and type of nucleus, preoperative visual acuity, some eye diseases were the risk factors for posterior capsule rupture ( P<0.05).Postoperative visual acuity of the two groups was all improved, but visual acuity of patients with posterior capsule rupture significantly decreased.?CONCLUSION: With eye disease history ( a history of vitreous hemorrhage, retinal detachment before surgery and preoperative visual acuity <20/200) are more likely to result in intraoperative posterior capsular rupture.Nuclear hardness over grade Ⅳ is also an important risk factor. Before one surgery, it is needed to learn more about the medical history of cataract patients, to conduct a reasonable comprehensive assessment for risk factors, to decrease the risk in the surgery, which are to increase the success rate and to improve the prognosis.

[Abstract ] Objective: To assess the safety and efficacy of retractorless surgery in spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage .Methods :Fity‐six cases of spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage treated by retractorless surgery and 59 cases treated by retractor surgery from January 2013 to December 2015 were included .Brain retraction injury rate , hematoma removal rate ,rebleeding rate ,operation time ,90‐day modified Rankin score and mortality rate were observed in the two groups .Results:All operations in the retractorless group were successfully completed without the retractor .There was no significant difference in hematoma removal rate ,rebleeding rate ,operation time and mortality between the two groups .The brain retraction injury rate in the retractorless group was significantly lower than that in the retractor group (P<0 .01) .90‐day modified Rankin score in the retractorless group was significantly better than that in the retractor group . Conclusions :Retractorless surgery can not only reduce the brain retraction injury , but also improve the prognosis of patients with spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage in the operation of spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage .

OBJECTIVETo study the antitumor effects and associated mechanisms of extract of the Smilax china L. rhizome (SCR) on ovarian cancer cells.

METHODSOvarian cancer cells A2780 were treated with different concentrations of SCR extract (SCRE), and compared with controls. Effects on cell growth were evaluated by cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8) assay; proliferation effects by EdU incorporation assay; cell cycle by propidium iodide staining; apoptosis by annexin V-fluorescein isothiocyanate/propidium iodide; cellular distribution of nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) by immunofluorescence; protein levels of NF-κB, caspase-3, poly-adenosine diphosphate (ADP)-ribose polymerase (PARP), Bcl-2-associated X protein (Bax), cellular inhibitor of apoptosis (cIAP)-1, anti-X-linked inhibitor of apoptosis protein (XIAP), B-cell lymphoma-extra large (Bcl-XL), B-cell lymphoma-2 (Bcl-2) and AKT by Western blotting; and effects of SCRE combined with cisplatin or adriamycin on A2780 cells by CCK-8 assay.

RESULTSSCRE suppressed A2780 cell proliferation in a dose-dependent manner (P<0.05,P<0.01), arrested cells in G2/M phase and induced apoptosis by activating caspase-3, PARP and Bax. SCRE treatment also correlated with inhibition of NF-κB and downregulation of Bcl-2, Bcl-XL, cIAP-1, XIAP and AKT. SCRE can promote chemosensitivity to cisplatin and adriamycin in A2780 cells (P<0.01).

CONCLUSIONSCR effectively inhibits NF-κB, induces apoptosis and reduces chemoresistance to cisplatin and adriamycin in ovarian cancer cells, which might be its molecular basis for treating ovarian cancer.

The type 1 insulin-like growth factor receptor (IGF-1R) and its downstream signaling components have been increasingly recognized to drive the development of malignancies, including non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). This study aimed to investigate the effects of IGF-1R and its inhibitor, AG1024, on the progression of lung cancer. Tissue microarray and immunohistochemistry were employed to detect the expressions of IGF-1 and IGF-1R in NSCLC tissues (n=198). Western blotting was used to determine the expressions of IGF-1 and phosphorylated IGF-1R (p-IGF-1R) in A549 human lung carcinoma cells, and MTT assay to measure cell proliferation. Additionally, the expressions of IGF-1, p-IGF-1R and IGF-1R in a mouse model of lung cancer were detected by Western blotting and real-time fluorescence quantitative polymerase chain reaction (FQ-PCR), respectively. The results showed that IGF-1 and IGF-1R were overexpressed in NSCLC tissues. The expression levels of IGF-1 and p-IGF-1R were significantly increased in A549 cells treated with IGF-1 as compared to those treated with IGF-1+AG1024 or untreated cells. In the presence of IGF-1, the proliferation of A549 cells was significantly increased. The progression of lung cancer in mice treated with IGF-1 was significantly increased as compared to the group treated with IGF-1+AG1024 or the control group, with the same trend mirrored in IGF-1/p-IGF-1R/IGF-1R at the protein and/or mRNA levels. It was concluded that IGF-1 and IGF inhibitor AG1024 promotes lung cancer progression.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the efficacy and safety of aripiprazole in the treatment of children with Tourette syndrome.

METHODA prospective, multi-center, controlled clinical trial was conducted in 195 children aged 5-17 years with Tourette syndrome. The patients were assigned to two groups: aripiprazole group (n=98) and tiapride group (n=97), with the treatment dosage of 5-25 mg/d and 100-500 mg/d, respectively. After 12 weeks treatment, the clinical efficacy was assessed by the Yale Global Tic Severity Scale (YGTSS) score, and adverse reactions were observed by side effects symptoms scale, blood biochemical indexes, and electrocardiography.

RESULTSignificant pre- and post-treatment differences were ascertained for motor tic, phonic tic, function damage and total scores of YGTSS in the both groups from the second week of treatment (P<0.0001). Compared with the tiapride group, the aripiprazole group showed a more significantly decreased function damage score of YGTSS by the second week of treatment (P<0.05). After 12 weeks treatment, total scores of YGTSS in the aripiprazole group decreased from 53.74±15.71 at baseline to 24.36±16.38, while in the tiapride group from 51.66±13.63 to 23.26±15.31. The mean reduction scores of YGTSS were 29.38 in the aripiprazole group and 28.40 in the tiapride group at the end of treatment, and the clinical response rates were 60.21% and 63.92%, respectively. There were no significant differences between the 2 groups (P>0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions was similar in the aripiprazole and tiapride groups, with 29.6% and 27.8% respectively. There were no significant differences in the incidence of adverse reactions between aripiprazole and tiapride groups and no severe adverse events were found in either group.

CONCLUSIONThe results showed that aripiprazole showed similar therapeutic effect to tiapride in treatment of children with Tourette syndrome. Aripiprazole was safe and well tolerated in Chinese population, and can be considered as a new valid option for the treatment of tic disorders.

Insulin-like growth factors (IGF), regulated by their receptors and binding proteins, play a pivotal role in human cell proliferation, differentiation and apoptosis. Increasing evidence has revealed that IGF system is involved in the genesis and progress of various malignancies including lung cancer. Recent studies in regard to IGF axis expression in the lung cancer cell lines, pulmonary tissue samples and blood circulation of lung cancer patients have shown that the IGF axis may contribute to the transformation and progression of lung cancer. Several researches have shown that a number of drugs targeting the IGF receptor are being investigated in clinical trials and suggest a potential therapeutic efficacy. This article reviews the updates and progress in the research of IGF axis in lung cancer.

OBJECTIVE: To establish a new high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method for determining the concentration of cefazolin, cefradine, cefoperazone and cefotaxime in blood and urine, as well as to investigate its applicability. METHODS: Protein in blood and urine was precipitated directly by acetonitrile with acetanilide was used as the internal standard using Agilent Zorbax SB-Aq column (250 mm x 4.6 mm, 5 microm). The mixed solvents of water (triethylamine 0.12%, acetic acid 0.12%) and acetonitrile were used as the mobile phase to separate cephalosporins using gradient elution method at 1 mL/min (flow rate) and 254 nm (detection wavelength). RESULTS: The working curve of four cephalosporins showed a good correlation (r = 0.9993), with the detection limit up to 0.01 microg/mL. The recovery rate was more than 81.2%. CONCLUSION This method is fast, easy and accurate. It is suitable for biological analysis of the 4 cephalosporins of the blood and urine in practical cases.
