Objective To study the effect of glutamine on hypermetabolism reaction and hormone secretion after severe burn injury. Methods Eighty-eight Wistar rats were inflicted with 30% total body surface area full thickness burns and randomly divided into two groups: namely burned control (B) and glutamine treatment(GLN) group. There was isonitrogenous and isocaloric intake in both groups, and rats of GLN and B groups were given glutamine and glycine at 1 0g/kg d, respectively. The following indices including the resting energy expenditure (REE), the levels of plasma cortisol, insulin and glucagon were determined. Results After burn injury, the REE, plasma cortisol, insulin and glucagons levels were significant increased in both groups. Compared with B group, the level of REE decreased and the ratio of insulin/glucagons increased in GLN group. Correlation analyses showed that REE had a negative correlation with insulin/glucagons ratio (r=-0 78,P

Objective: To explore the effects of different nutrition support pathway on enterogenous hypermetabolism after severe burn injury. Methods: Eighty-eight Wistar rats were inflicted with 30% total body surface area full thickness burns and randomly divided into two groups: total parenteral nutrition (TPN) and enteral nutrition(EN) group. The following indices including the resting energy expenditure (REE), the plasma LPS, TNF and IL-1 level were determined. Results: After burn injury, the REE, TNF, LPS and IL-1 were significantly increased in two groups . Comparing with TPN group , the level of REE, TNF, LPS and IL-1 were significantly decreased in EN group (P

Objective: To study the Antitussive, expectorant and antiasthmatic actions of Zhisou Lixiao capsule(ZLC). Methods: The incubation period and the frequency of cough in mice induced by ammonia water, the secretion of PSP from mouse bronchus and the incubation period of asthma in guinea-pigs induced by histamine were observed. Results: ZLC 0.8~3.2g?kg-1?d-1 ig could obviously prolong the incubative period of cough and decrease the frequency, ZLC 0.8~3.2g?kg-1?d-1 ig could increase the secretion of PSP in mice, 0.5~2.0 g?kg-1?d-1 increase the bronchial secretion in rats, and 1.0~2.0 g?kg-1?d-1 could prolong the incubation period of asthma in guinea-pigs. Conclusion: ZLC exerts a good Antitussive, expectorant and antiasthmatic effect.

OBJECTIVE:To study the effect of L-glutamine granules on protein metabolism and immunofunction in severely burned patients.METHODS:39 severe burn patients(total burn surface areas 30%~60%,full thickness burn areas 20%~50%) were randomly divided into two groups:control group(C group,19 patients) and glutamine treatment group(GLN group,20 patients).GLN group patients were given glutamine granules 0.5g/kg daily for 7 days, and C group were given same weight placebo for 7 days. The concentrations of plasma glutamine, prealbumin, transferrin, immunological globulin and IL-2 were determined. Moreover, the wound healing rate of burn area was observed and then hospital stay days were recorded.RESULTS:After 7 days of taking glutamine, the concentrations of plasma glutamine, prealbumin, transferrin IgG,IgM and IL-2 in GLN group were significant higher than those in before medication and C group(P0.05).The wound healing rate was faster and hospital stay days were shorter in GLN group than those in C group(P

Streptomyces sp. A048 was cultured in a complete medium to the last stage of log phase, the hyphae were washed and collected by centrifugation. Then the hyphae were inoculated in liquid medium for chitinase production using two-step fermentation. Activity of chitinase produced by two-step fermentation was 1.1 times higher than that from one-step fermentation, and ferment cycle was for 54 hours, which was 66 hours shorter than that of one-step fermentation. The hyphae and the powder of chitin were co-immobilizated and cultured in liquid medium for 36 hours, activity of chitinase was 1.8 times higher than that from one-step fermentation, and ferment cycle was 54h shorter than that of one-step fermentation. By adding 0.4% cellulose to two-step fermentation, activity of chitinase was 18.52 U/mL that was 4 times higher than that from the control and 10 times higher than that from one-step fermentation. Two step fermentation with chitin and cellulose may be the optimal fermentation process to produce Chitinase from Streptomyces sp. A048.

Objective To describe the prevalence and change of rationing of nursing care (RNC) in medical and surgical units of level 2 and level 3 general hospitals across Guangdong province. Methods RNC were measured by asking nurses about the completion status of 12 necessary nursing care activities, and the prevalence of RNC in 2014 was compared with the study results from the China Hospital Nursing Workforce Research(CNWR) in 2009 (exclusively using the data of Guangdong province) to describe the change of RNC. Results Six activities were rationed averagely in 2014, and the most frequent activities rationed wereComfort/talk with patients accounted for 69.8% (975/1 396) andEducating patients and familiesaccounted for 67.3%(940/1 396). According to the CNWR in 2009, the average number of nursing care activities rationed was 3 which was statistically lower than the number in 2014 (P < 0.01). Conclusions RNC is prevalent in level 2 and level 3 general hospitals across Guangdong province, especially psychosocial care to the patients; the prevalence of RNC has not decreased since 2009.
