1.Efficacy impacts of the different treatment frequencies on female stress urinary incontinence.
Chinese Acupuncture & Moxibustion 2013;33(12):1088-1090
OBJECTIVETo observe the effect on female stress urinary incontinence (SUI) treated with the pudendal nerve stimulation of electroacupuncture therapy at different frequencies.
METHODSSixty patients were divided into a group treated three times every week (group A) and a group treated twice every week (group B), 30 cases in each one. The pudendal nerve stimulation of electroacupuncture therapy was adopted at Disixue (four acupoints on sacral region), 60 min in each time in the two groups, treated three times a week or twice a week respectively. SUI severity and the score of life quality were observed before and after 12 treatments separately. The efficacy was evaluated in the two groups.
RESULTSAt the end of treatment, SUI severity was relieved and the score of life quality was improved in the two groups (all P<0.01). The results in group A were superior to group B [0 (0-4.3) vs 4 (0-5), P<0.01]. At the end of treatment, the total effective rate in group A was 90.0% (27/30) and was 76.7% (23/30) in group B; the efficacy in group A was better than that in group B (P<0.05).
CONCLUSIONThe pudendal nerve stimulation of electroacupuncture therapy achieves the definite efficacy on female SUI and the results in the treatment of three times a week are superior to those in the treatment of twice a week.

Objective The Improved segmental arch technique can effectively intrude incisors and correct deep overbites. To research its biomechanical characteristics, we reconstruct 3D nonlinear finite element model of mandibular teeth with improved segmen-tal arch, study the biomechanical characteristics and the suitable loading force of intrusion arch. Methods Combined with the re-sults of previous research, we complete the reconstruction of 3D nonlinear finite element model of mandibular teeth with improved seg-mental arch. Then, we set loading force of intrusion arch five conditions from 0.2 N~0.6 N, calculate the movement trend and stress distribution of improved segmental arch. Results In the five conditions of improved segmental arch, lateral incisors and canines in-truded and tipped labially, first molars tipped distally and rotated. In addition, the moment the initial loading force of intrusive arch in-creased, the movement of these teeth increased. However, other teeth did not move clearly. When the initial loading force of improved segment arch was 0.5 N, it can achieve appropriate intrusion of anterior teeth. Conclusion Under an appropriate intrusive force, improved segment arch can effectively intrude incisors and control the extrusion of posterior teeth. It can be used to correct the deep overbites, especially with high mandibular planes, gummy smile or adult stage.

Objective To evaluate different treatment modaltities for limited (local) hepatic metastasis in patients of colonic carcinoma Methods We conducted a retrospective analysis on 81 cases of colonic cancer suffering from hepatic local metastasis from 1987 to 2000 Results The 1、3、5 year survival rate was 85%、 46% and 32% respectively for patients underwent resection of metastatic liver cancer, and 26%、 0 and 0, respectively for those not having the metastatic liver cancer resected ( P 0 05) Conclusion Resection or ablation therapy promises a much longer long term survival than do nothing in colonic cancer patients with local liver metastatic tumor

ObjectiveTo evaluate the diagnostic value of immunohistochemistry(IHC) for the identification and localization of Treponema pallidum(TP) in secondary syphilitic lesions.MethodsSkin tissue specimens were obtained from the lesions of 25 patients with secondary syphilis and 15 patients with dermatoses unrelated to TP infection, followed by fixation and embeding.IHC using a polyclonal antibody against TP and Warthin-Starry (W-S) silver stain were carried out respectively to detect TP in these specimens. Results TP was detected in 80.00% (20/25) of the specimens by IHC,44.00% by W-S silver stain (Fisher's Exact Test,P =0.046).Of the 20 IHC-based TP-positive specimens, all harbored TP in the epidermis,11 also in the dermis. The density of TP was associated with the types of skin lesions, and sequentially decreased from condyloma latum to papules, maculopapules and maculae(x2 =15.694,P =0.011 ).Spirochetes were not seen in any of the control lesional specimens.ConclusionsIHC is superior to traditional W-S silver stain for detecting spirochetes in secondary syphilitic lesions, and is of great value to the diagnosis of secondary syphilis. The accurate localization of TP by IHC may facilitate the study on the formation of syphilitic lesions.
