4.Application of waist pillow in defecation of bedridden patients in emergency department
Chinese Journal of Practical Nursing 2015;31(11):822-824
Objective To explore the efficacy of self-designed waist pillow combined with plastic toilet in bedridden patients in emergency department. Methods From August 2013 to February 2014,90 bedridden patients in emergency department were divided into the observation group 1,the observation group 2 and the control group by random digits table with 30 cases in each group.Patients in the observation group 1 lied in the suprine position, and elevating head of bed 15 to 30 degrees, with pillow under the waist, and plastic toilet under the buttocks.Patients in the observation group 2 used the same method as that of the observation group 1,except that they did not use waist pillow. The control group lied in the suprine position, only used plastic toilet. The defecation and other related items were compared between the three groups. Results The observation group 1 was better than those of the observation group 2 and the control group in preventing pressure ulcers, urine leakage and backflow, comfort degree, worrying degree, defecation difficulty degree. Conclusions Application of waist pillow and plastic toilet in bedridden patients in emergency department could reduce the skin damage, and let patients defecate smoothly, which was in accordance with the connotation of comfort nursing.
5.Ethics-Community: the New Basis of Medical Humanism
Chinese Medical Ethics 1994;0(05):-
As the main ethical principle that guides medical practice, medical humanism is showing a vacant manifestation, which is due to the current generalization of economic rational impulse. This paper points out that new basis of medical humanism lies in regaining the lofty of medical humanism, recognizing and constructing ethics-community.
6.ON THE RELATION BETWEEN PITUITARY-THYROID AXIS AND PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT IN ENDEMIC CRETINISM
Chinese Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism 1985;0(01):-
The relation between pituitary-thryoid axis and physical development in 42 cases of endemic cretinism in Qinghai province was studied with 38 normal subjects as controls. The crania and the pituitary enlargement in cretins were revealed by CT scan. It was found that in cretins the physical development was retarded, the crania were smaller than those of the controls, and the serum TSH levels were increased, particularly in the myxedematous ones. Statistically there was a positive correlation between pituitary height and serum TSH (r = 0.511, p
7.Distribution of pathogens and research of drug resistance on 712 sputum specimens
International Journal of Laboratory Medicine 2006;0(02):-
Objective To investigate the distribution and the drug resistance of pathogens isolated from 712 sputum specimens in the hospital. Methods 712 sputum specimens collected from the hospital underwent microorganism culture and drug sensitivity test.Disc diffusion screening and the K-B disc diffusion confirmatory method were applied to detect ESBLs,K-B test was used to judge their sensitivityies to drugs. Results The positive rate of sputum culture was increasing apparently(38% in 2003,49% in 2004 respectively).Pseudomonas aeruginosa,Escherichia coli,Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Staphylococcus epidermidis,Enterobacter, and Staphylococcus aureus were six most commonly detected oxygen-dependent bacterias. The results of the drug resistance test showed that the multiple drug resistance to antibiotics was serious.More and more enterobacteriaceae producing ESBLs were found. Conclusion Gram-negative bacilli are the major pathogens in the sputum culture, multiple drug resistance is serious. Therefore monitoring drug resistance is very important for instructing clinical doctors to use antibiotics properly.
8.Comparison of Fate Ethics among Chinese Philosophies of Confucianism,Taoism, and Buddhis
Chinese Medical Ethics 1996;0(01):-
The concepts of death in Chinese philosophies of Confucianism, Taoism, and Buddhism contain a wealth of ethics, and they have accumulated into the main elements of Chinese life and death ethics, but the three doctrines have many differences. Different fate ontologies: The Confucians regard charity as their ontology, the Taoists Taoism, and the Buddhists benevolence, respectively. Different values of life and death: The Confucians focus on birth value, Taoists attach the same value to live and death, and Buddhists focus on death value. Different fate attitudes: Confucians prefer life to death, Taoists is willing to both life and death, while Buddhists hates life and advocates death. Different values of beyond-the-fate: Confucians observe the concept of death from the life, Taoists observe the concept of life from the death, Buddhists observe the concept of death by abandoning the life.
9.Low-frequency electrical stimulation can improve ability in the activities of daily living soon after stroke
Chinese Journal of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation 2010;32(9):678-681
Objective To assess the efficacy of low-frequency electrical stimulation (LES) in improving ability in the activities of daily living (ADL) of subjects after a recent stroke. Methods In a randomized controlled trial, 37 subjects with a first stroke were randomly divided into an electrical stimulation (ES) group and a control group. In the ES group (n = 19 ) electrodes were applied on the motor points of the tibialis anterior, the peroneal longus and the peroneus brevis muscles. Stimulation current was applied at an intensity set to cause full ankle extension. The stimulus pulse was a symmetric biphasic wave with frequency of 30 Hz, a pulse width of 200 μs, a duty cycle of 5 s on and 5 s off ramped up and down for 1 s each and amplitude up to 90 mA. The current amplitude was adjusted according to each subject's comfort. Stimulation lasted for 30 min/d, 5 d/week for 3 weeks. All subjects in the 2 groups also received a standard rehabilitation program. Evaluations included the Fugl-Meyer motor assessment (FMA) for the lower extremity and the modified Barthel index (MBI) for ADL ability. Measurements were recorded before treatment and after 2 and 3 weeks of treatment. Results Before treatment there was no significant difference between the two groups in terms of age, time post-stroke, stroke severity or the baseline measurements. After 2 and 3 weeks of treatment, the FMA scores in the ES group were significantly higher than those of the control group. The MBI scores in the ES group were also significantly higher than in the control group. The average MBI transferring, walking and stair climbing scores in the ES group were all significantly higher than those in the control group after either 2 or 3 weeks. Conclusion Three weeks of LES can improve ADL ability soon after stroke.
10.Vascular white matter lesions and its impact on cognitive function
International Journal of Cerebrovascular Diseases 2009;17(10):769-773
White matter lesions on neuroimaging are common in the normal aged and in patients with several cognitive disorders. Its pathological features include demyelination, axonal loss and lacunar infarction, and the pathophysiological mechanisms may be chronic cerebral ischemia caused by hypoperfusion and disturbance of cerebral blood flow disorders. Vascular white matter lesiom may cause different degrees of cogntive disorders, but the exact the pathological subtype of dementia associated with white matter lesions remains uncertain.
