Objective To discuss the value of amnionic fluid lamellar body count(LBC) as a predictor of fetal lung maturity. Methods Amnionic fluid was obtained during the cesarean section of 41 normal term pregnancies. LBC was performed on each specimen, and lecithin-sphingomyelin(L/S) ratio was detected simultaneously. Results (1)Amnionic fluid LBC was (86?43)?10 3 (72.5?10 3~99.4?10 3) in normal term pregnancy. (2) Positive correlation was shown between the amnionic fluid LBC and L/S ratio(r=0.66,P=0.001). Conclusion The LBC is a rapid and accurate method to determine the fetal lung maturity.

Objective To research the antibacterial effect in vitro of different extract of Wikstroemia indica. Methods Double dilution method was used to determine the MIC of 11 species bacterium. Results The acetic ether extract had much obvious effect than n-butanol extract, both of them had high effect on staph.,but the aqueous extract had little antibacterial effect. Conclusion The acetic ether extract has obvious antibacterial effect, also has broad-spectrum antibacterial activity.

OBJECTIVETo compare the differences in the efficacy on lower limb motor function in children with spastic cerebral palsy between the combined therapeutic program of Jin three-needle therapy and MOTOmed intelligent motor training and the simple MOTOmed.
METHODSEighty children with spastic cerebral palsy were randomized into an observation group and a control group, 40 cases in each group. In the observation group, Jin three-needle therapy was used at four mind points, three brain points, three intelligent points, three temporal points, three knee points and three foot points, as well as Chengjin (BL 56), Chengshen (BL 57) and the other. Additionally, MOTOmed was given in assistance with conventional rehabilitation training. In the control group, MOTOmed and the conventional rehabilitation training were adopted. In the two groups, the treatment was given once a day, 20 treatments made one session and there were 3 to 5 days at interval between the two sessions. The efficacy evaluation was performed after continuous 3 sessions of treatment. The gross motor function measure (GMFM) and modified Ashworth scale (MAS) were applied for the evaluation before and after treatment in the two groups.
RESULTSAfter 3 sessions of treatment, GMFM score was increased apparently as compared with that before treatment in the two groups (P < 0.01, P < 0.05). After treatment, GMFM score in the observation group was increased more remarkably than that in the control group (55.32 +/- 17.10 vs 47.48 +/- 17.18, P < 0.05). After treatment, the total effective rate of gastrocnemius Ashworth spasm grade [90.0% (36/40)] in the observation group was better apparently than [72.5% (29/40)] in the control group (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONThe combined therapeutic program of Jin three-needle therapy and MOTOmet intelligent motor training improves the lower limb motor function of the children with spastic cerebral palsy and its efficacy is better than simple MOTOmed.

Journal of Applied Clinical Pediatrics 2004;0(12):-
Objective To analyze the incidence, clinical feature and late complications, and treatment for diabetes ketoacidosis (DKA) in children with type 1 diabetes mellitus. Methods Ninty children with type 1 diabetes mellitus within 10 years were retrospectively reviewed. The onset situation, clinical feature and long-term complication, and treatment of DKA were analized. Results High morbidity was found in 10 to 16 years old children.DKA was often caused by infection; late complications of diabetes mellitus was resulted from interrupted injection of insulin. Conclusions Emergency treatment for DKA may involve the injection of small dose insulin, correction of the disorder of water and electrolysis and regulation of acid-base.The education of patients and parents about diabetes mellitus and long-term injection of insulin are of importance in preventing the complications.

Diagnostics is the bridge of basic medicine and clinical medicine.Teaching method with the idea of evidence-based medicine is benefit to cultivate the students' ability on clinical practice. To establish this educational mode, teachers should learn a teaching method guided by ideas of evidence-based medicine, and students should be taught a tool for solving clinical problems with ideas of evidence-based medicine.

Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy of vertebroplasty using vertebral pedicle screw technique combined with calcium sulfate cement injection in the treatment of thoracolumbar vertebrae fractures. Methods Twenty-eight patients with thoracolumbar vertebrae fractures admitted in our department in recent 2 years were enrolled in this study, including 21 cases of type A,3 cases of type B,and 4 cases of type C.All patients were fixed with vertebral pedicle screw, and then verteplasty was performed using calcium sulfate cement injection. Results All patients were followed up for an average time of 16 months.Within the follow-up,there was no complication noted, such as loosening or breakage of internal fixation, chronical lumbar back pain, and loss of effected vertebral height.Artificial bones injected into vertebrae were absorbed in about 3 months. Conclusion Vertebroplasty using vertebral pedicle screw technique combined with calcium sulfate cement injection is an effective and safe procedure for thoracolumbar vertebrae fractures, which renders it possible to bear weight early and to maintain corrected vertebral height postoperatively.

Objective To investigate the effects of motor imagery therapy combined with scalp acupuncture on balance and walking abilities in hemiplegic stroke survivors. Methods A total of 120 patients with post-stroke hemiparesis were randomly divided into 3 groups, each of 40 cases. All patients were given basic medication and conventional rehabilitation treatment. In addition, the motor imagery group accepted motor imagery therapy, the scalp acupuncture group received scalp acupuncture, and the treatment group was provided with the above both for 6 weeks. The 10 m maximum walking speed (10 m MWS),Berg balance scale (BBS),functional ambulation classification (FAC) and timed up and go test (TUGT) were conducted to evaluate balance and gait abilities before and after the intervention. Results There were no significant differences among the 3 groups in any of the assessments (P > 0.05) before intervention (P > 0.05).After six weeks' intervention, all measurements of the 3 groups were significantly better than those before that (P < 0.05),and the effects of the treatment group were significantly better than those of the other 2 groups (P < 0.05).Conclusion Motor imagery therapy combined with scalp acupuncture can distinctly improve the balance and walking abilities in hemiplegic stroke survivors, superior to the effect of solely motor imagery therapy or scalp acupuncture.

Objective To investigate the effect of motor imagery therapy supplemented with scalp acupuncture for improving the lower limb motor function of stroke patients with hemiplegia. Methods A total of 120 hemiplegic stroke patients were randomly divided into an experimental group and a control group with 60 patients in each. All were given routine medical care and scalp acupuncture (stimulating the posterior and anterior oblique line of the parietal-temporal lobe contralateral to the hemiplegic limb). The treatment was given daily for 3 weeks as one session, and 2 sessions were administered to both groups. The experimental group was given motor imagery therapy in addition. Each treatment took about 25 min every day for 3 weeks as one session, and again 2 consecutive sessions were administered. The temporal and spatial gait parameters (10m maximum walking speed, stride length and cadence) of all of the patients were assessed, the Fugl-Meyer lower extremity assessment (FMA-L) was conducted and functional ambulation classifications (FACs) were assigned before therapy and at the end of the 6 weeks. Results After 6 weeks of treatment, all of the measures had improved significantly for both groups. The experimental group, however, had improved significantly more than the control group. Conclusion Motor imagery therapy can supplement scalp acupuncture to improve lower limb motor function in hemiplegic stroke patients.

A theoretical model for the magnetic forces on ferromagnetic drug particles in a guiding magnetic field is established with the consideration of the electromagnetic field theory. Our model shows that the ferromagnetic drug particles can concentrate on the targeted area with the guidance of the outside magnetic field. Both the distribution of the intensity of the guiding magnetic field and the forces on ferromagnetic drug particles are studied numerically. The theoretical results are in good agreement with the experimental results reported recently.
