1.Treatment of 26 cases of Postoperative Gastric Fistula with Self-made Compound Wubei Powder and Gelatin Sponge Plugging
International Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2008;30(4):284,289-
Objective To investigate the treatment of postoperative gastric fistula with combined traditional Chinese and western medicine. Methods Altogether 56 cases ofgastric fistula after gastrectomy were randomly divided into a treatment group and a control group. The control group was simply treated with conventional western medicine therapy, while treatment group was treated with self-made compound Wubei powder scattered with gelatin sponge plugging in addition to conventional western medicine treatment. Results The effective rate of the treatment group and the control group was 96.4% and 64.8% respectively. The effective rate of the treatment group was significant better than the control group (p<0.01).Conclusion The combined traditional Chinese and western medicine therapy can promote healing of the fistula, reduce pain during the process of surgery shorten the duration of hospitalization, and decrease the cost of treatment.
2.Treatment of Gastroduodenal Ulcer Perforation of 59 Cases with Acupuncture plus Sanbai Powder
International Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2008;30(5):348-349
Objective To investigate an effective method to treat gastric ulcer perforation with integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine. Methods 117 patients were randomly divided into a treatment group and a control group. The treatment group was treated with acupuncture plus Sanbal Powder, and the control group was treated with conventional western medicine exclusively. Results The two groups showed significant difference in the cure rate, the total efficiency, the average inpatient free, and the relapse rate in three years with P<0.01. Conclusion The therapy of integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine will shorten inpatient time, alleviate pain and increase recovery rate when treating gastroduodenal ulcer perforation.

It is now widely accepted that platelet aggregation plays an important role in physiological hemostasis and pathological thrombosis associated with cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. Anti-platelet aggregation drug research is also a hot spot of current research. The biggest challenge of antiplatelet therapy has been the molecular overlap of the hemostasis and thrombosis, leading to a serious risk of bleeding. Recent studies have emphasized the importance of shear stress generated from blood flow, which will primarily drive platelet activation and aggregation in thrombosis. So if we can take advantage of the differences between the physiological and pathological vascular blood flow environment, the development of selective anti-platelet therapy may be a safer treatment for cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. In this review, we discuss the underlying mechanisms of shear-induced platelet activation. Later, we summarize the effects and mechanisms of compounds and traditional Chinese medicine on shear-induced platelet activation. The aim is to provide a reference for the study of biological pharmacology of traditional Chinese medicine for promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis.

Objective To search the specific biomarkers in serum of patients with silicosis for early diagnosis. Methods Surface enhanced laser desorption ionization-time of flight-mass spectrometry (SELDI-TOF-MS) was used to search the specific biomarkers in serum samples from 60 silica-exposed workers (20 with no silicosis served as 0 group, 20 with suspected silicosis as 0+ group and 20 with stage I silicosis as stage I group), and 20 healthy men with no silica exposure as control. Serum samples were analyzed using the new generation of weak cationic exchange chip (CM10, Ciphergen Biosystems, America) and the protein fingerprint automatically collected using ProteinChip Biology System (PBSII-C) instrumentation. The data were analyzed by Ciphergen ProteinChip and BioMarker Wizard software. Results Compared with control group, ten biomarkers were differentially expressed among all the silica-exposed workers (P

Objective To explore the effect of a herbalcompound Gehua Jiejue Dizhi Decoction (GJDD) on the liver fat deposition and the expression of PXR, and the mRNA and protein expression of its target genes CYP3A11 and CYP3A25in the liver tissues of mouse models of alcoholic fatty liver. Methods Twenty-nine healthy male C57BL/6J mice were randomly divided into control group (n=5), model group (n=8), high dose GJDD group (n=8)and low dose GJDD group (n=8).The mouse model of alcoholic fatty liver was prepared according to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) method. Then, the mice were treated with the high dose and low dose GJDD for 9 days.Serum glutamic-pyruvic transaminase (AST) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).Liver fat deposition was detected by oil red O staining.Real-time RT-PCR and immunohistochemistry were performed to examine the expressions of PXR, CYP3A11 and CYP3A25.Results Compared with the model group, the liver fat deposition in the intervention groups was significantly reduced in a dose-dependent manner, with a significant increase of the expression of PXR and CYP3A25 (P < 0.01).The serum ALT level was significantly reduced in the model group (P < 0.01), while the transcriptional levels of CYP3A11 mRNA in the groups were similar (P ≥ 0.05).Conclusions Gehua Jiejue Dizhi Decoction has obvious therapeutic effect on the AFLD in mice, which may be related to the activation of PXR and its target genes CYP3A25.
