Only a specifc subset of cancer cells in each tumor with characteristics of self-renewal and multilineage differentiation is responsible for tumor initiation, propagation and chemoresistance, they are termed as cancer initiating cells or cancer stem cells (CSCs). This review summarizes the latest advances about the isolation and identification of pancreatic cancer stem cells and and its relationship with invasion and metastasis, chemotherapy resistance.

Chinese Health Economics 2013;(9):47-49
Objective: To study the effects of maternity insurance lump capitation on obstetric index in Yinchuan , discuss its impact on decreasing cesarean section rate and improving reasonable check and rational drug use. Methods: The relevant indexes of inpatient parturient in Yinchuan fixed-point hospitals in 2011 are analyzed by comparing with the data from 2008 to 2010. Results:After the application of capitation lump policy, the cesarean section rate of the research object decrease from 54.14% to 35.38%, average hospitalization expenditure decreased by 9.52%, per drug expenditure decreased to 45.24%, average length of stay decreased by 0.8 day and per medical service cost increased by 9.39%. Conclusion: Since the application of capitation lump mode, the effects on the indexes of cesarean section rate, medical and medicine cost are obvious.

Objective To compare the effect of the different operation for mammary duct fistula (MDF). Method The clinical data of 85 cases of MDF were analysed retrospectively. Continuous section examinations between the multiple fistula was performed in 3 cases undergoing breastectomy. Results Among the 85 cases with 146 MDF, the opening located within 5cm around areola in 129 cases. MDF incision was performed on 38 cases, 34 cases cured, 4 cases recurred;MDF resection was performed in 44 cases, all the 44 cases were cured;simple mastectomy was performed on 3 cases of extensive breast inflammation, all the 3 cases cured. Conclusions Most of MDF occurs in main mammary duct. Most of the opening of MDF are around the areola. MDF incision or resection is the first choice of operation.

Objective To investigate the diagnostic value of serum soluble transferrin receptor(sTfR) in children with iron deficiency anemia(IDA).Methods Sixty-three children with microcytic hypochromic anemia were divided into IDA and non-IDA(n-IDA)groups,on which sTfR and other iron metabolism related indexes such as serum ferritin(SF) and serum iron(SI) were measured,and(t-test) between groups and analysis of ROC curve were carried out. Results The mean concentration of sTfR in the group of IDA was above normal value and t-test difference was extremely significant compared with n-IDA group(P

Objective The analysis of hospitalization expenses contributes to effective measures for reducing medical costs. The authors investigated the hospitalization expenses and the influencing factors in orbital cavernous hemangioma (OCH) patients in Shanghai Changzheng Hospital. Methods In view of clinical diagnosis and treatment and social economics,we conducted a single factor analysis and a stepwise multiple linear regression analysis on the influencing factors of the hospitalization expenses of 81 OCH patients from 2002 to 2007.Results The six-year hospitalization expenses of the OCH patients averaged RMB $7 071.4 and the median was RMB $7 038.7,with the costs of surgical materials (54.3%),Western medicine (13.3%) and laboratory examinations (8.1%) as the top three figures. The single factor analysis and stepwise multiple linear regression analysis showed 8 factors to be statistically significant in influencing the hospitalization expenses of the OCH patients, namely, marital status, occupation, complications, anterior orbitotomy, previous treatment, proptosis, hospitalization year and preoperative hospital stay (P

Objective To study the impact of capitation payment on obstetric indicators for the maternity insurance of urban workers in Yinchuan city. Methods Collection of indicators on lying-in women hospitalized at the obstetrics departments of designated hospitals in Yinchuan,in the period of 2011 to 2012 when the capitation payment was put in place.Such indicators include the percentage of uterine-incision delivery, diagnostics and therapeutic expenses, drug expenses, and average days of stay, along with mortality of pregnant and lying-in women and that of newborns, which are used as indicators to measure quality of care. Results The capitation payment policy has witnessed drops in the percentage of uterine-incision delivery, cost per inpatient, drug expenses per inpatient and average days of stay among urban workers covered by the insurance. The drops amount to 10% for cost per inpatient and 45% for drug expenses per inpatient. The differences found in pregnant and lying-in women are not statistically significant. Conclusion Capitation payment is conducive to dropping the percentage of uterine-incision delivery and medical expenses, and saving medical insurance payment, for the sake of optimal use of healthcare resources.

Objective:To clone HLA A *0201 cDNA and express it transiently on COS 7 cells. Methods:HLA A cDNA isolated from the HLA A *0201 positive lymphocytes by using RT PCR was cloned into pBluescript II SK vector directionally. After the sequence was confirmed, the cDNA was inserted into mammalian expression vector pcDNA3.The recombinant vector was transfected into COS 7 cells by cation liposome. The transient expression on the cells was measured by flow cyteometer. Results:The cDNA was identical with HLA A *0201 cDNA published on Genebank.Determined by flow cytemeter, the expressing rate was recorded for 57%.Conclusion:We have cloned HLA A *0201 successfully and expressed it transiently on COS 7 cell, which would be potentially useful in research on killing tumor restricted by HLA A2.

Justified the necessity of remote pathology consultation in China, and described the basic approach of such consultation in terms of the conditions, organizational framework, specialists and consultation process of the hospital. on the basis of benefit in pationts, the consultation helps the development of the pathology department and other specialist departments at the same time, builds initially a pathology quality control system, and accelerates the multi-discipline diagnosis and treatment approach. Expect to encourage contemplation on international remote pathology consultation in an effort to improve such a practice for the benefit of patients.

Objective To investigate the correlation of blood-brain barrier (BBB) damage and depression in patients with cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD).Methods Consecutive patients with CSVD admitted to hospital were enrolled prospectively. The patients completed head MRI and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) examination after admission. The BBB damage degree was evaluated by using albumin CSF/serum ratio (Q-Alb).At 3 months after onset, the depression was assessed according to the Hamilton depression scale (HAMD) and the American Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of mental disorders,4th edition (DSM-Ⅳ).The correlation between the BBB damage and depression in patients with CSVD was analyzed,Results A total of 130 consecutive patients with CSVD were enrolled, including 58 (44.62%) had depression within 3 months. There were significant differences in the proportions of patients with lacunar infarction (43.10% vs.26.39%;x2 =4.008,P =0.045),leukoaraiosis (75.86% vs.58.33%;x2 =4.408,P =0.036),and cerebral microbleed (27.59% vs.12.50%;x2 =4.707,P =0.030),and baseline National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) scores (5.02 ± 2.51 vs.3.60 ± 2.43;t =3.256,P =0.001),Fazekas scales of deep white matter (2.35 ± 1.00 vs.1.56 ± 1.05;t =4.358,P <0.001) and the proportion of Q-AIb category (x2 =6.852,P =0.033) between the depression group and the non-depression group.Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the baseline NIHSS scores (odds ratio [OR] 1.248,95% confidence interval [CI] 1.027-1.517;P =0.026),leukoaraiosis (OR 14.786,95% CI 1.776-123.111;P=0.013),Fazekas scales of deep white matter (OR 1.847,95% CI 1.210-2.819;P=0.004),and Q-Alb (OR 30.417,95% CI 3.662-252.643;P =0.004) had significant independent correlation with depression. Conclusions The BBB damage is independently associated with depression in patients with CSVD.
