4.Spas in Hungary
The Journal of The Japanese Society of Balneology, Climatology and Physical Medicine 1976;39(3-4):100-106
Promissing planning to develop Hungarian thermal tourism is carried on by the Hungarian Government under the aid and co-operation of the United Nations. There are over one thousand thermal springs (sources), of which more than 400 supply water of a temperature above 35°C. The number of thermal bath resorts today exceeds one hundred. Fifty bath resorts registered with health authorities as medical and in eight of them medical treatment of high standards is given.
According to the data of the Research Institute of Water Economy 150 wells (36.6%) show a water temperature between 35-44°C, 120 wells (29.5%) between 45-59°C, 63 wells (15.5%) between 60-74°C, 43 wells (10.6%) between 75-89°C, and 32 wells (7.8%) have a water temperature of 90°C and above.
Chemical analysis of thermal waters were carried out in 333 wells. Most frequent are alkaline waters (153 wells, 39.6%). Next come iodine-brome containing waters (80 wells 20.7%). Simple thermals occupy 59 wells (15.3%), sulphurous waters 23 wells (6%) and calcium-magnesium-hydrogen carbonated waters 11 wells (2.8%). There is no strongly radio active water.
Swimming pools, big open air thermal baths and wave baths are characteristic features of the Hungarian Spas and well developed.

7.Spas in People's Republic of China (3rd Report) Huaqing Hot Springs and Longmen Hot Springs
The Journal of The Japanese Society of Balneology, Climatology and Physical Medicine 1984;47(2):105-107
Huaqing Hot Springs are situated 25km north-east of Xian.
There are four springs. Water temperature: 43°C. Simple radioactive thermals with Radon content of 365.4×10-10c/l.
In 1964 a sanatorium with 240 beds was established for railway employees. Thermal bath is administered once daily for 20min. at a temperature between 37°-40°C. 15 baths make a series and then a pause of 3-5 days is given. The duration of spa treatment is mostly 3 months.
Rheumatic diseases, mild hypertension, skin diseases, digestive disorders, and nervous diseases are the chief indications.
Longmen Hot Springs are situated 14km south of Luoyang. Longmen Grottoes are one of the three most famous caves with stone budha statues in China. A spa sanatorium is built in the last year. Water temperature ranges from 24°-60°C. Transparent and odorless, presumably simple thermals.
9.Spas in D.D.R.
The Journal of The Japanese Society of Balneology, Climatology and Physical Medicine 1986;49(2):103-106
Heinrich Neu Fahrland Sanatorium in Potsdam, Bad Elster, Bad Branbach, and Bad Liebenstein were visited in June, 1985. Spa treatment in D. D. R. is organized as a part of total health care programm under direct control of the Ministry of Health. Cardio vascular diseases are the top cause of mortality in D. D. R. and therefore spa treatment or rather “cure” therapy is widely used for prevention, therapy and rehubilitation of these direases. 28 health resorts, 31 sanatoria and 4 Kneipp bathresorts were listed in Bäderbuch der D. D. R. edited by Prof. H. Jordan.
