Academic Journal of Second Military Medical University 2001;0(09):-
Objective:To explore a rapid, economical and efficient approach for molecular detection of 22q11.2 micro-deletion syndrome. Methods: Fifty ventricular septal defect (VSD) patients (33 males and 17 females, age ranged from 1 month to 15 years), who were hospitalized in Nanjing Children's Hospital from Jan. 2004 to Jan. 2005, were randomly selected for this study. The peripheral blood of VSD patients and the buckle cells of their parents were obtained. Three short tandem-repeat polymorphism (STRP) markers, D22S944, 22D_4_2 and 22D_4_3, were used for fluorescent in situ hybridization(FISH)study and genotype analysis. Results: 22D_4_2 and 22D_4_3 produced clear electrophoresis band, and the detections were rapid and efficient. The 3 STRP markers were consistent with the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium expectations, and their heterozygosity was high in the present population from Chinese Han nationality in Jiangsu province. FISH confirmed that 5 of the 50 VSD patients had a deletion within chromosome 22q11.2. Conclusion: Three STRP markers (D22S944, 22D_4_2 and 22D_4_3) (analysis) combined with FISH as a supplementary is an efficient and reliable approach for detection of (22q11.2 microdeletion.)

Journal of Practical Stomatology 2000;0(06):-
Objective: To study the cytocompatibility of nanophase alumina ceramics with osteoblasts. Methods: Alumina ceramics were prepared via wet chemistry techniques. The grain size of alumina of interest in the present study was determined by scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy with image analysis software. Primary osteoblast culture was established from rat calvaria. Protein content, synthesis of alkaline phosphatase(ALP) and deposition of calcium-containing mineral by osteoblasts cultured on nanophase alumina ceramics and conventional alumina ceramics for 7, 14, 21 and 28 d were respectively examined. Results: The average surface grain size of the nanophase and conventional alumina compact formulations was 60 nm and 1.80 ?m respectively.Synthesis of ALP and deposition of calcium-containing mineral were significantly greater by osteoblasts cultured on nanophase than those on conventional ceramics after 21- and 28- day culture. Conclusions: Nanophase alumina may stimulate ALP synthesis and calcium deposition of osteoblasts.

In order to investigate the susceptible factors of posttraumatic epilepsy (PTE) and the surgical treatment, the relative factors of 18 cases of intractable PTE and 35 cases of non-PTE patients with posttraumatic seizures (PTS) and the surgical treatment of PTE patients were studied retrospectively. The results showed that there was significant difference in the degree of unconsciousness after head injury, incidence of intracerebral hematoma and acute subdural hematoma between PTE group and non-PTE group. Of the 18 cases of PTE undergoing surgical treatment, the effectiveness of 11 cases was satisfactory and that of the remaining 7 was not. Between the two groups, there was difference in the localization of interictal epileptic discharge (IED) and ictal discharge (ID) as demonstrated by preoperative EEG. It was concluded that PTE was associated with the severity of head injury and intracranial hematoma. The localization of epileptogenic loci by preoperative EEG presumably contributed to the PTE surgical effects.
