Objective To evaluate the changes of right ventricular (RV) volume and function by using single beat real-time three dimensional (3-D) echocardiography in patients with atrial septal defect (ASD) before and after percutaneous closure. Methods During the period from July 2011 to Oct. 2013, a total of 45 patients with pure ostium secundum defect were admitted to authors’ hospital to receive percutaneous transcatheter closer. The patients were divided into ASD without pulmonary hypertension (PH) group (group A, n = 28) and ASD with PH group (group B, n = 17). By using 3-D echocardiography and right cardiac catheterization, the right ventricular end-diastolic volume (RVEDV), right ventricular end-systolic volume (RVESV), right ventricular stroke volume (RVSV), right ventricular ejection fraction (RVEF), right ventricular cardiac output (RVCO), pulmonary artery systolic pressure (PASP) and the mean pulmonary artery pressure (mPAP) were determined before and after the percutaneous transcatheter closer. The results were compared between the two groups. Results After the treatment a statistically significant reduction in RVEDV, RVESV, RVSV and RVCO were seen in all patients (P < 0.05). In group A, RVEF decreased significantly after ASD closure when compared with that determined before transcatheter closer (P < 0.05), while no significant reduction in RVEF was seen in group B (P > 0.05). Pulmonary artery pressure (PAP) decreased significantly in group B after ASD closure when compared with that obtained before Objective To evaluate the changes of right ventricular (RV) volume and function by using single beat real-time three dimensional (3-D) echocardiography in patients with atrial septal defect (ASD) before and after percutaneous closure. Objective To observe the relationship between morphological and hemodynamic changes of female internal genital organs in the patients with hypomenorrhea with transvaginal color Doppler ultrasound (TVCDS). Methods Thirty female patients with hypomenorrhea of unknown origin were studied, and 30 healthy women of eumenorrhea aged 20 to 40 years were selected as control group. The size and shape of uterus, ovaries, and the thickness of endometria of uterus were observed with TVCDS in follicular phase, ovulation phase, luteal phase and luteal atrophy phase, respectively. Hemodynamic parameters of ovarian artery, uterus artery and their branches were measured. At the same time, hormones of female were examined in 30 patients in follicular phase, ovulation phase and luteal atrophy phase, respectively. Results ①No difference of the size of uterus and ovaries, the thickness of endometria and the amount of egg follicles was found between two groups (P>0.05). ②Compared with that in the control group, type C of endometria increased in hypomenorrhea group (P<0.05). ③RI, PI and S/D of spiral arteries in hypomenorrhea group were higher than those in control group, but no significance in these parameters of uterine arteries, arcuate arteries and radiate arteries was found. RI of uterine arteries, arcuate arteries and radiate arteries decreased successively. ④RI, PI and S/D of ovarian arteries in hypomenorrhea group was higher than those in control group in ovulation phase (P<0.05). Conclusion Reduction in blood supply of ovary and endometria may be the causes of hypomenorrhea with unknown origin. TVCDS can be used as a conventional examination method for these patients.

Erectile dysfunction has a high incidence rate and is a difficult-to-treat condition in male urology. The synergistic effect of nerves, endothelium, and smooth muscles plays a crucial role in penile erection. However, the role of the many fibroblasts in the corpus cavernosum of the penis during erection is often overlooked.Fibroblasts are at the center of the cellular and molecular network in the corpus cavernosum of the penis, regulating the dynamic balance of the cavernosal microenvironment and mediating penile erection, thus providing a novel target for treating erectile dysfunction.Blood stasis primarily causes erectile dysfunction, thereby serving as a crucial pathological factor leading to the imbalance of the cavernosal microenvironment.Blood stasis also corresponds to the microscopic pathological changes in the corpus cavernosum of patients with erectile dysfunction. Therefore, this study explored the correlation between fibroblast-mediated penile erection and traditional Chinese medicine theories, integrating it with clinical practice. This study proposes that activating blood and resolving stasis can regulate the cavernosal microenvironment and improve fibroblast-mediated erectile dysfunction. This study also provides novel insights for treating erectile dysfunction with traditional Chinese medicine.

Objective:To investigate the reparative efficacy and mechanism of pressure-adjustable macroporous antibacterial hydrogel in the treatment of infected wounds. Methods:Staphylococcus aureus was used to establish wound infection models in healthy C57BL/6 mice. The models were divided into 3 groups subjected to 3 different treatments: a negative control group with no hydrogel treatment (group A), a control group treated by common medical hydrogel (group B) and an experiment group treated by pressure-adjustable macroporous antibacterial hydrogel (group C). On days 1, 3, 6, 9 and 12, the effects of 3 treatments were compared on the wound area and the number of bacterial colonies under scab, on the apoptosis of fibroblasts based on the changes of type Ⅰ procollagen, and on the inhibition of inflammation during wound repair by detecting the expression of interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor (TNF-α).Results:On days 1 and 3, there was no significant difference between the 3 groups in the wound area ( P>0.05), but on days 6, 9 and 12, there were significant differences between the 3 groups in the wound area ( P<0.05). On day 6, the wound areas in group B (1.23 cm 2 ± 0.16 cm 2) and in group C (1.14 cm 2 ± 0.12 cm 2) were significantly smaller than that in group A (1.56 cm 2 ± 0.16 cm 2) ( P<0.05), but there was no significant difference between groups B and C ( P>0.05). On days 9 and 12, the wound areas in group B (0.97 cm 2 ± 0.13 cm 2 and 0.76 cm 2 ± 0.10 cm 2) and in group C (0.66 cm 2 ± 0.06 cm 2 and 0.48 cm 2 ± 0.07 cm 2) were significantly smaller than those in group A (1.49 cm 2 ± 0.11 cm 2 and 1.39 cm 2 ± 0.13 cm 2), and those in group C were significantly smaller than those in group B (all P<0.05). On day 1, there was no significant difference between the 3 groups in the number of bacterial colonies under scab ( P>0.05). On days 3, 6, 9 and 12, the numbers of bacterial colonies under scab in groups B and C were significantly smaller than that in group A ( P<0.05), and that in group C was significantly smaller than that in group B ( P< 0.05). The nucleic acid electrophoresis showed that the grayscale bands in group C were significantly darker than those in groups A and B. The early apoptosis rate of the fibroblasts in group C[low-right positive fluorescence (LR%): 9.72%] was significantly lower than that in group A (43.99%) and that in group B (38.43%), and that in group B was significantly lower than that in group A ( P<0.05). On day 12, the ratio of the gray values of IL-6 and β-actin (0.64 ± 0.10) and the ratio of the gray values of TNF-α and β-actin (0.34 ± 0.05) in the fibroblasts in group C were significantly higher than those in group A (1.22 ± 0.21 and 0.60 ± 0.14) and in group B (0.88 ± 0.02 and 0.41 ± 0.06) ( P<0.01). Conclusion:The pressure-adjustable macroporous antibacterial hydrogel is an effective treatment of infected wounds and its mechanism may be related to the reduced apoptosis of fibroblasts.

Background::T-cell-mediated immunity is crucial for the effective clearance of viral infection, but the T-cell-mediated immune responses that are induced by booster doses of inactivated severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) vaccines in people living with human immunodeficiency virus (PLWH) remain unclear.Methods::Forty-five PLWH who had received antiretroviral therapy (ART) for more than two years and 29 healthy controls (HCs) at Beijing Youan Hospital were enrolled to assess the dynamic changes in T-cell responses between the day before the third vaccine dose (week 0) and 4 or 12 weeks (week 4 or week 12) after receiving the third dose of inactivated SARS-CoV-2 vaccine. Flow cytometry, enzyme-linked immunospot (ELISpot), and multiplex cytokines profiling were used to assess T-cell responses at the three timepoints in this study.Results::The results of the ELISpot and activation-induced marker (AIM) assays showed that SARS-CoV-2-specific T-cell responses were increased in both PLWH and HCs after the third dose of the inactivated SARS-CoV-2 vaccine, and a similar magnitude of immune response was induced against the Omicron (B.1.1.529) variant compared to the wild-type strain. In detail, spike-specific T-cell responses (measured by the ELISpot assay for interferon γ [IFN-γ] release) in both PLWH and HCs significantly increased in week 4, and the spike-specific T-cell responses in HCs were significantly stronger than those in PLWH 4 weeks after the third vaccination. In the AIM assay, spike-specific CD4 + T-cell responses peaked in both PLWH and HCs in week 12. Additionally, significantly higher spike-specific CD8 + T-cell responses were induced in PLWH than in HCs in week 12. In PLWH, the release of the cytokines interleukin-2 (IL-2), tumour necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), and IL-22 by peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) that were stimulated with spike peptides increased in week 12. In addition, the levels of IL-4 and IL-5 were higher in PLWH than in HCs in week 12. Interestingly, the magnitude of SARS-CoV-2-specific T-cell responses in PLWH was negatively associated with the extent of CD8 + T-cell activation and exhaustion. In addition, positive correlations were observed between the magnitude of spike-specific T-cell responses (determined by measuring IFN-γ release by ELISpot) and the amounts of IL-4, IL-5, IL-2 and IL-17F. Conclusions::Our findings suggested that SARS-CoV-2-specific T-cell responses could be enhanced by the booster dose of inactivated COVID-19 vaccines and further illustrate the importance of additional vaccination for PLWH.
