The purpose of this paper is to introduce the advance of J.Carr and R. Shepherd's A Motor Relearning Programme for Stroke. In the neurosciences, it has been typical to consider the dyscontrol characteristics associated with the upper motor neuron syndrome as positive features and negative features for a long time. Recently Dr. Carr and Dr. Shepherd have proposed another group of characteristics which they call adaptive features, since it appears likely that adaptive changes to neural system, muscles and other soft tissues and adaptive motor behaviors underline some clinical signs. They point out that early rehabilitation and active life should be arranged for the stroke patient. It is the author's suggestion that we should pay more attention to the “disuse syndrome”in training of the stroke patient according to the adaptive features, and we should understand the “misuse syndrome” correctly and we should not neglect to train the muscle strength in correcting the patient's abnormal movement pattern, since the negative features are major reasons for functional disability, together with the adaptive changes that occur in soft tissues as a result of denervation, immobility and disuse.

Objective To explore the value of low-dose CT in assessment of neonatal pneumothorax. Methods Low-dose CT and chest radiographys were performed in 98 neonates with clinically suspected of pneumothorax. Results Pneumothorax was detected in 98 neonates by low-doseCT, compared with 84 neonates by chest radiography. The sensitivity of low-dose CT was higher than that of chest radiography (P =0.026<0.05). Conclusion Low-dose CT provides a reliable assessment of neonatal pneumothorax and a guide for clinical diagnosis and treatment.

Aim To establish an ideal hyperlipidemia animal model by a new way. Methods 30 mice were randomly divided into control group, positive control group and model group. The mice of control group were only fed with a standard diet. Those of positive control group were fed with high fat diet. Those of model group were fed with a standard diet and enough milk. After 30 days the TG, TC, HDL-C and LDL-C of serum and hepatic and LI were detected and pathological changes in the liver of mice were observed microscopically. Results Compared with the control group, the mice of model group developed hyperlipidemia with LI and the serum and the hepatic TG, TC, LDL-C elevated significantly, while HDL-C were significantly lower. The histopathological research showed hepatocellular macrovesicular steatosis and hepatitis in the model group. Conclusion An ideal model of hyperlipidemia is successfully established with standard diet and milk fed to mice for 30 days.

Aims To establish a UPLC-MS/MS meth-od for the determination of plasma concentration of scutellarein and its metabolite and to study their phar-macokinetics in rat plasma. Methods The analysis was achieved by BEH C18 column with a mobile phase composed of 0 . 1 % formic acid in acetonitrile and 0 . 1% aqueous formic acid using step gradient elution. A TQD tandem mass spectrometry equipped with electros-pray ionization source was used as detector and opera-ted by multiple reaction monitoring( MRM) positive ion mode. After intravenous injection of scutellarein, the concentrations of scutellarein and its major metabolite glucuronide scutellarin in rat plasma were determined at different time points. The pharmacokinetic parame-ters were calculated by DAS 2. 0 software. Results Good linearity was achieved for scutellarein, the ex-traction recovery was between 80 . 5 % to 90 . 5 %, the precisions and accuracy were good. The result showed the pharmacokinetic profiles of scutellarein and glucu-ronide scutellarin both fit to the two-compartment mod-el. Conclusion The above mentioned method is spe-cific, rapid, sensitive and suitable for the pharmacoki-netic studies of scutellarein and its metabolite.

Objective To study the range of the reference value of static posturography parameters in normal subjects. Methods Six hundred and eleven normal subjects were recruited. Static standing balance test of these subjects was performed by use of a computerized stabilometer with their eyes opened and closed, respectively, when their feet standing close and apart. Ten parameters were obtained. 95% confidence ranges were calculated using normal distribution methods, which were grouped by sex and age. Results Statistically significant differences of the 95% confidence ranges of equilibrium parameters were found among different sex and age groups, feet positions and eyes conditions, respectively. The value of the parameters of the male was higher than that of the female;the value of the equilibrium parameters was the lowest in the age group of 15~19 years, and the highest in 66~79 age group;and there were no significant differences among 20~35,36~50 and 51~65 age groups. The value of various parameters in standing with feet close was higher than that with feet apart. It was higher with eyes closed than that with eyes opened. Conclusion Sex,age, feet position and visual input affect balance function.

A computerized stabilometer was used to evaluate the balance function of 31 subjects with healthy backs and 3l subjects with chronic low back pain. According to the difference of age and sex, they were divided into 2 groups equally. They were told that the feet stood side by side and stood separately with eyes opened and closed. The sensitivity and applying value of all of the test parameters were analyzed. The result showed that the stabilization of the subjects with chronic low back pain was poorer than the healthy subjects. The parameters, such as Sx, Sy, MS, PL, CA and AS, were sensitive, and feet stood side by side was more sensitive than feet stood separately.

Objective To investigate the clinical features of cerebral infarction complicated with diabetes mellitus (DCI) compared withthose without diabetes mellitus (NCI). Methods 80 DCI and 86 NCI hospitalized patients were reviewed with their serumal glucose, lipid, uric acid, hemorheology and carotid ultrasound. Results The total cholesterol, low density lipoprotein and uric acid were significantly higherin DCI group than in NCI group (P<0.05), while high density lipoprotein was significantly lower (P<0.05). There were significant differencesbetween these two groups in Hemorheological indicators except hematokrit (P<0.01). The carotid intima media thickness (IMT) wassignificantly higher in the DCI group than in the NCI group (P<0.05). Conclusion DCI patients suffered in more serious lipid, uric acid, hemorheological disorder, and IMT compared with NCI.
