Objective To investigate characteristic of CT findings for peritoneal metastases.Methods The CT manitestations of 48 cases with pathologically proved peritoneal metastases were analysed. Results ①Ascites was seen in 32 cases, to make up 66.7%. ②Changes of omentum were found in 16 cases, to make up 33.3%; In it, cake sign of omentum were in 8 cases, nodular sign of omentum were in 5 cases, cystic sign of omentum were in 2 cases, opacity sign of omentum was in 1 case. ③Changes of mesentery were in 14 cases, to make up 29.2%. ④Thickening of the parieral peritoneurmar were in 12 cases, to make up 25%. ⑤Thickening of small intestine wall and moving of intestine were in 2 cases, to make up 4.2%.Conclusion CT is a valuable method for the diagnosis of peritoneum metastatic tumor.

Objective To study MR manifestations of biliary obstructive disease.Methods MR examination (Philips Gyroscan INTERA 1.0T)in 69 patients with biliary obstructive disease were performed.The conventional sequences included:T1WI/FFE,T2WI/TSE,T2WI/SPIR and contrast-enhanced at axial position,coronal B-FFE and MRCP.All images in all cases were compared with the results of operation and pathology.Results 43 cases were benign disorder,of them,42 cases were choledocholithiasis,one case was choledochal cyst.Choledocholithiasis presented as single or multiple round or ovoid with low signal.The direct sign of malignant lesions (26 cases) was the masses with slightly high signal at the obstructive part,the indirect sign of malignant lesions was obstruction or narrow of bile duct. The MR diagnostic accuracy of obstructive location was 100%, and the accuracy for evaluating the causes of obstruction was 89.9%.Conclusion MRCP combining with B-FFE and routine MRI, analysising the direct sign and indirect sign, can improve the diagnostic accuracy of obstructive jaundice.

Objective To study the value of MRI in the diagnosis of spinal metastasis.Methods MR imaging manifestations of spinal metastasis in 85 cases were retrospectively analyzed.46 cases underwent CT and/or X-ray in the 85 cases.Results Totally 388 metastatic vertebra in the 85 cases were detected by MRI.388 vertebras showed hypointensity on T1WI.354 vertebra showed mixed signal intensity and 34 vertebra showed hypointensity on T2WI.All of the vertebra showed hyperintensity on T2WI/STIR.54 vertebra showed pathologic fracture,53 vertebra were protrusion in postetrior,54 vertebra with appendages damage and paravertebral soft tissue mass presented and vertebral canal involved in 30 cases.18 cases were detected with lesion in 46 cases having X-ray and/or CT data,the positive rate was 39.11%(18/46).Conclusion MRI can detect spinal metastatic lesion early,the extent and degree of the tumors can be judged by MRI exactly.

OBJECTIVE:To observe clinical efficacy and safety of capecitabine and tegafur gimeracil and oteracil potassium synchronous radiotherapy in the treatment of recurrence after radical resection of colon cancer. METHODS:A total of 150 patients with recurrent after radical resection of colon cancer in our hospital during Jan. 2012-Dec. 2012 were divided into group A and B ac-cording to random number table,with 75 cases in each group. Both groups received three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy. Group A was additionally given capecitabine 2.5 g. Group B was additionally given tegafur gimeracil and oteracil potassium,40 mg,bid for body surface area <1.25 m2,50 mg,bid for body surface area ranged 1.25-1.50 m2 and60mg,bid for body surface ar-ea<1.50 m2. Clinical efficacies of 2 groups were compared;1-year,2-year,3-year survival andⅢ-Ⅳdegree toxic effect were fol-lowed up. RESULTS:The total response rate of group B was 86.67％,which was significantly higher than 66.67％ of group A, with statistical significance(P<0.05). 1-year,2-year,3-year survival rates of group B were 93.335,72.00％,58.67％,which was significantly higher than 74.67％,53.33％,41.33％,with statistical significance(P<0.05). The median disease progression time of group A was 8.0 months,which was significantly shorter than 9.5 months of group B,with statistical significance (P<0.05). There was no statistical significance in Ⅲ-Ⅳ degree toxic effect between 2 groups (P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS:Compared with capecitabine,tegafur gimeracil and oteracil potassium combined with three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy show significant therapeutic efficacy for recurrence after radical resection of colon cancer,can control disease progression,prolong the survival time and don't increase the risk of toxic effects.

Background and purpose:There are few studies referring to population-based cancer survival of bladder cancer for more than forty years in China. This paper was to offer basis for assessing long-term survival trends of bladder cancer and the prognosis of this cancer through analysis of the survival rates based on cancer report documents from 1972 to 2011 in Qidong.Methods:The deadline of the last follow-up for survival status of the 1 619 registered cases was Apr. 2012. Cumulative observed survival rate (OS) and relative survival rate (RS) were calculated using Hakulinen’s method performed by the SURV3.01 Software which is developed by Finnish Cancer Registry.Results:The one-, three-, five-, ten-, fifteen-, twenty-, and thirty-year OS rates were 59.91%, 43.49%, 35.98%, 26.91%, 21.30%, 18.37% and 12.24%; and the one-, three-, five-, ten-, fifteen-, twenty-, and thirty-year RS rates were 64.07%, 53.02%, 50.06%, 52.42%, 59.59%, 76.39% and 115.75%, respectively. For males, these OS rates were 60.84%, 43.91%, 36.95%, 27.31%, 21.49%, 18.29% and 12.59%, and RS rates were 65.23%, 53.95%, 52.02%, 54.57%, 62.59%, 79.12% and 117.07%, respectively; For females, these OS rates were 56.61%, 42.03%, 32.44%, 25.65%, 20.78%, 18.80% and 0%, and RS rates, 59.99%, 49.91%, 43.37%, 45.86%, 51.21%, 69.02% and 0%, respectively. There were no statistical differences couldbe found between both sexes (P=0.256). Five-year RS rates of age groups 15-34, 35-44, 45-54, 55-64, 65-74, and more than 75 were 49.10%, 67.53%, 62.77%, 53.92%, 46.59% and 39.85%, and 10-year RS rates, 49.79%, 61.23%, 52.99%, 48.21%, 54.94% and 51.21%, respectively. Remarkable improvement could be seen for the five-, ten-, and fifteen-year RS rates in this setting since 1980’s.Conclusion:The survival outcome from Qidong registered cases with bladder cancer shows gradual progress during the past 2 decades. Early detection and improvement of therapies may be the factors affecting the prognosis of bladder cancer. Although the disparities in survival rates between Qidong and the developed countries are getting narrower, potential for survival improvement still exists.

Objective To analyze the survival rates of patients with non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) in Qidong from 1972 to 2011,in order to provide the basis for the prognosis assessment and the control of this cancer.Methods A total of 1 472 registered NHL cases were followed up to April 30, 2012.Cumulative observed survival (OS) rate and relative survival (RS) rate were calculated using Hakulinen method performed by the SURV 3.01 software developed at the Finnish Cancer Registry.Results The 1-, 3-, 5-, 10-, 20-and 30-year OS rates were 32.48 ％, 19.30 ％, 15.78 ％, 12.76 ％, 9.54 ％ and 7.63 ％, and the RS rates were 33.49 ％, 21.18 ％, 18.46 ％, 17.79 ％, 19.37 ％ and 22.44 ％, respectively.The 1-, 3-, 5-, 10-, 20-and 30-year RS rates of males vs females had no statistically significant differences (x2 =3.32, P =0.767).The 5-year RS rates of age groups 0-14, 15-34, 35-44, 45-54, 55-64, 65-74, and ≥75 were 22.99 ％, 20.51％,18.42 ％, 20.96 ％, 18.72 ％, 17.32 ％, 10.60 ％, and the 10-year RS rates were 23.04 ％, 15.55 ％, 15.91％,16.36 ％, 18.59 ％, 19.70 ％, 20.93 ％, respectively.The age group 0-14 had the highest 5-and 10-year RS rates.Remarkable improvement could be seen in the 5-year RS rate from 7.76 ％ in 1973-1977 to 26.79 ％ in 2003-2007, and the 10-year OS rate from 6.63 ％ in 1973-1977 to 15.52 ％ in 1998-2002, respectively.Conclusions The outcome of NHL in Qidong has been improved gradually from 1972 to 2011, but the gaps of survival rates in NHL patients between China and the developed countries still exist.Research on the diagnosis and treatment of NHL should be further emphasized.

Objective Survival rates of pancreas cancer during the years 1972-2011,from a population-based cancer registry in Qidong,were analyzed in order to provide information for the prognosis assessment and control of this disease.Methods The deadline of the last follow-up for survival status of 3279 registered cases was April 30th,2012.DCO (death certificates only) cases were excluded,leaving 3272 cases for survival analysis.Cumulative observed survival rate (OS) and relative survival rate (RS) were calculated by the SURV3.01 software.Results The 1-,5-,10-,15-,20-,25-,and 30-year OSs were 12.69％,4.87％,3.76％,3.07％ 2.66％,1.94％ and 1.28％,respectively,and OSs in male were 12.39％,4.67％,3.41％,2.77％ 2.22％,1.35％,0.75％,and in female were 13.08％,5.12％,4.22％,3.45％,3.28％,3.00％ 2.40％.The 1-,5-,10-,15-,20-,25-,and 30-year RSs were 13.34％,6.30％,6.47％,7.34％ 9.27％,10.33％ and 10.65％,respectively;and the RSs in male were 13.06％,6.14％,6.06％ 6.91％,8.06％,7.44％,6.44％,and in female were 13.70％,6.47％,6.99％,7.88％,10.91％ 15.25％,19.12％.The 5-year OS rates at age groups of 15-34,35-44,45-54,55-64,65-74 and ＞75 were 17.81％,6.34％,8.32％,5.04％,3.75％ and 3.82％,respectively.The 5-year RSs were 17.97％,6.47％,8.65％,5.47％,4.68％ and 8.03％.Five-year OSs increased from 2.01％ in 1973-1977 to 5.11％ in 2003-2007.Conclusions The overall survival rate of pancreas cancer has increased during the past 40 years in Qidong,but the improvement is marginal.

Objective To investigate the best MR technique for detecting small epidermoids in the cerebellopontine angle.Methods 7 patients with pathologically-proved small epidermoids only located in the cerebellopontine angle were collected. The imaging techniques included:conventional T1WI and T2WI, fluid attenuated inversion recovery(FLAIR),diffusion weighted imaging(DWI) and balanced fast field echo(B-FFE) .The findings were retrospectively analyzed.Results 6 of 7 cases of epidermoid tumours localized at the cerebellopontine angle and exhibited the similar signal intensity as the cerebrospinal fluid(CSF) on T1WI and T2WI.The remaining case was slightly isointense on either T1WI or T2WI.On FLAIR images in 6 cases,3 cases showed slightly hyperintensity, 1 case showed doubtful heterogeneous signal intensity and 2 cases did not reveal any abnormal signal intensity.3 cases were hyperintense differenting from CSF on DW images. All of seven cases showed heterogeneous signal characteristics and were quite different from CFS on B-FFE.Meanwhile B-FFE also produced clearly the tissue contrast of trigeminus embedded in epidermoids of the cerebellopontine angle.Conclusion B-FFE is much more useful for the early diagnosis of epidermoids in the cerebellopontine angle and it also can provide precise preoperative information about the trigeminus encasement.

AIM:To explore whether YAP protein is important in induced pluripotent stem cell ( iPSC)-induced cardiovascular progenitor cell and/or vascular smooth muscle differentiation .METHODS:Using episomal vector based reprogramming , we generated human iPSCs from donor fibroblasts .We used both this iPSCs and human H 1 embryonic stem cells to differentiate into vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) through cardiovascular progenitor cells (CVPC).Western blotting, qPCR and immunofluorescence microscopy were used to check the expression of YAP and related genes during this differentiation process .RESULTS:The results showed that iPSCs expressed pluripotent stem cell markers, such as Oct4, Nanog, Sox2, TRA-1-60 and SSEA3, and could form teratoma in SCID mice.YAP was highly expressed in pluripotent stem cells , but dramatically decreased when CVPC differentiation started .YAP gradually increased dur-ing CVPC three-day differentiation.The TAZ and YAP binding partner TEAD1, but not TEAD2 and TEAD4, have similar expression pattern in CVPC differentiation .Immunofluorescence result confirmed that YAP was activated and accumulated in nucleus .Interesting-ly, both YAP and phosphorylated YAP expression decreased to very low level after CVPC differentiated into VSMCs in 7 days.TEAD4 and TAZ also decreased, while TEAD1, TEAD2 and TEAD3 expression did not change during VSMC differentiation .CONCLU-SION:YAP and TEAD1 expression increased during CVPC differentiation , while YAP and TEAD4 expression decreased from CVPC to VSMCs differentiation , which suggested YAP might have different function during diverse cell differentiation .
