microRNAs (miRNAs) are a class of small non-coding,single-stranded RNAs,which regulate gene expression by binding messenger RNA (mRNA).Thyroid cancer is the most common endocrine cancer.Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) is a common type of thyroid cancer, and its incidence has dramatically increased worldwide.Recent evidence suggests that miRNAs play an important role in thyroid carcinogenesis, development and prognosis, especially in PTC.

Objective To discuss the complications of percutaneous kyphoplasty (PKP) in treatment of osteoporotic compression fractures (OVCFs) of the thoracic and lumbar vertebrae, and to investigate their causes and prevention. Methods From Jan.2004 to Dec.2012,PKP or PKP combined with percutaneous vertebroplasty(PVP) was performed on 126 vertebrae in 112 thoracolumbar OVCFs patients. There were 21 males and 91 females. The average age was 69 years (ranging from 36 to 85).100 cases had single vertebra,10 cases had double vertebrae, and 2 cases had 3 vertebrae. The injured segments were identified by MRI before surgery, and the fractures of the vertebrae were observed clearly by X ray and CT scan. The causes of the complications were retrospective analyzed. Results Perioperative complication happened in 68 cases (54%).The leakage of the bone cement happened in 66 cases (52.4%):one of them had high fever after the leakage happened behind the post-wall of the vertebra body, and it disappeared after one week with the relevant treatment. There was no injury of the nerve. Most of the leakage happened in front of the vertebra body, few happened in the terminal plate, and few happened behind the vertebral plate. There was no pulmonary embolism.Toxic reaction of the bone cement wasn't found in this team. There was no artery or nerve injury. One temporary spinal cord injury happened, one case was punctured in a wrong vertebra, and balloon rupture happened in one case. One case didn't achieve pain release. No infection happened. Conclusion The bone cement leakage was the most common complication associated with PKP in treatment of OVCFs.The complication rate can be reduced if the operation indications are strict, the volume of the filling cementis is well controlled, and the operation is performed in experienced hands.

Based on the requirements of military professional education reform and in view of the problems existing in the operation and maintenance of first-aid medical equipment in grass-roots forces. We put forward a construction scheme of online course which named operation and maintenance of first-aid medical equipment in grass-roots forces, and then expound the scheme from teaching content construction and teaching mode construction. The teaching content construction consists of two parts: the management theory of conventional medical equipments and the operation and maintenance teaching of specific first-aid medical equipments. In the construction of teaching mode, we elaborate on the organization forms of teaching, answering questions, training and examination units in detail. The design scheme of the online course is in line with the learning characteristics and meets the demand of learning the knowledge of the operation and maintenance of first-aid medical equipment systematically, so as to improve the post competency of the grass-roots forces.

Objective To analyze the space-time characteristic of traumatic brain injury (TBI) caused by Chinese Wenchuan earthquake and discuss opportunity and mode of medical intervention. Methods A retrospective study was done on 92 patients with TBI admitted into our department during Chinese Wanchuan earthquake. Results All 92 patients came from champaign located at northwest of Chengdu. Of all, 76 patients were admitted within 12 hours after earthquake. Surgical operation Wag done on 10 patients, of whom 3 died. Conclusions In the early period after earthquake, TBI patients make a large proportion and have fast change of injury severity. All patients come from champaign with conven-ient transportation. For TBI patients, early emergent operation after admission can significantly elevate success rate of mcdical intervention.

Objective To investigate the prevalence and distribution characteristics of Cyclospora cayetanensis and Cryptosporidium ssp. infection in diarrhea cases of Yunnan Province. Methods To collect fresh faeces from diarrhea cases in 7 counties/cities, examine the specimens by direct smear with iodine staining and modified acid-fast staining. Results The infection rate of C. cayetanensis and Cryptosporidium ssp. was 3.97% and 5.29%, respectively. The infection rate of the two pathogenic coccidians was as high as 10.64% and 8.51% in preschool children. C. cayetanensis was found in 3 counties and Cryptosporidium in 6 counties. Conclusion Both C. cayetanensis and Cryptosporidium ssp. are prevalent in Yunnan Province with the latter distributed more widely, and the two pathogens are more prevalent in preschool children.

OBJECTIVETo summarize anesthetic management of low birth weight infants undergoing surgical intervention of congenital heart disease without cardiopulmonary bypass.
METHODSFifty-three low birth weight infants (including 49 premature infants) with congenital heart disease underwent surgical treatment without cardiopulmonary bypass during the period from June, 2003 to July, 2013. The mean gestational age of the infants was 30.96∓3.09 weeks (26-40 weeks) with a mean age on the operation day of 32.81∓20.76 days (4-87 days), birth weight of 1429.90∓455.08 g (640-2460 g), and weight on the operation day of 1750.20∓481.59 g (650-2460 g). All the infants underwent cardiac operations without cardiopulmonary bypass under general anesthesia. The respiratory parameters and acid-base and electrolyte balance were adjusted according to blood gas analysis. The inotropic drug was used to maintain the hemodynamic stability.
RESULTSForty-seven of the infants received patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) ligation. Of these infants, 1 had cardiac arrest before the operation with failed cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and in another case, PDA ligation was aborted due to severe hypoplasia of the aortic valve and ascending aorta found intraoperatively by transesophageal echocardiography. Two infants underwent coarctation of the aorta (CoA), and 1 of them died during the operation due to cardiac arrest. The total mortality of these infants was 3.77% and the early postoperative mortality (<72 h) was 5.66%.
CONCLUSIONSNon-cardiopulmonary bypass surgery can be performed in low birth weight infants in early stage, and effective anesthetic management can reduce the perioperative mortality and improve the postoperative survival rate.

Objective:To investigate the intelligence status of children aged 10 - 12 in rural areas of Linxia Hui Autonomous Prefecture (referred to as Linxia) in Gansu Province. Methods:From September to November 2019, a cross-sectional study was carried out to investigate the intelligence status of children aged 10 to 12 in 8 counties (cities) of Linxia. Chinese Raven's Progressive Matrices (rural version) was used for intelligence test and children's intelligence quotient (IQ) was calculated by regular mold to evaluate children's intelligence level. Results:A total of 1 721 children in Linxia were tested for intelligence, with an average IQ of 103.2. Among them, low intelligence (≤69) accounted for 1.0% (18/1 721), borderline (70 - 79) accounted for 3.0% (52/1 721), middle and lower (80 - 89) accounted for 8.4% (144/1 721), moderate (90 - 109) accounted for 56.6% (974/1 721), middle and upper (110 - 119) accounted for 21.9% (377/1 721), excellent (120 - 129) accounted for 7.8% (135/1 721), extremely excellent (≥130) accounted for 1.2% (21/1 721). There were 635, 598 and 488 children aged 10, 11 and 12, respectively, with an average IQ of 106.1, 103.3 and 99.2. There were 919 males and 802 females, with an average IQ of 102.9 and 103.4, respectively. Conclusion:In 2019, the intelligence of children aged 10 to 12 in rural areas of Linxia has reached the moderate level.
