Objective To investigate the effects of low-dose of hydrocortisone on circulating thymus-dependent lymphocyte (T lymphocyte) apoptosis in patients with septic shock. Method fifty-seven patients with septic shock admitted into ICU from January 2006 to January 2009 were prospectively randomized (random number) to treatment group and control group. Another 20 healthy volunteers and 18 patients with sepsis alone were included as external control groups. The patients of treatment group and control group were treated with low-dose of hydrocortisone and placebo, respectively. Samples of peripheral blood were taken from healthy volunteers and patients 0 hr,24 hrs,48 hrs,72 hrs and 168 hrs after onset of the disease to determine the circulating T lymphocyte apoptosis by using the assays of Annexin V and flow cytometry. Least significant difference t -test was used for multiple comparisons. Results The percentage of Annexin V-positive CD4+ T lymphocytes in the primary stage was (11.01 +4.52)% in septic shock patients, (4.41 + 1.45)% in healthy volunteers, and (7.87 + 3. 82)% in patients with sepsis alone. And in the initial setting, the percentage of Annexin V-positive CD4+ T lymphocytes in the septic shock patients was higher than that in healthy volunteers ( P < 0.05) and in patients with sepsis alone ( P < 0.05). The percentage of Annexin V-positive CD8 + T lymphocytes at the beginning was (11.33+19.62)% in septic shock patients, (9.62+8.32)% in healthy volunteers, and (13.09+ 15.84)% in patients with sepsis alone (P > 0.05 between three groups). The percentages of Annexin V-positive CD4+ T lymphocytes in control group after 24 his, 48 hrs and 72 hrs were(13.51+6.85)%, (19.39 + 6.63)% and (15.33+ 6.21)%, respectively. And the percentages of Annexin V-positive CD4+ T lymphocytes in treatment patients after 24 hrs, 48 hrs and 72 hrs were (17.4 + 7.21)%, (22.61 + 5.64)%, and (25.73 + 6.91)%, respectively. The percentage of Annexin V-positive CD4+ T lymphocytes in septic shock patients was higher than that in control groups ( P < 0.05). The percentages of Annexin V-positive CD8+ T lymphocytes in control group after 24 hrs, 48 hrs and 72 hrs were (11.49+ 11.73)%, (12.74+ 10.39)% and (13.28+ 16.6)%, respectively, and in the treatment group, those were (9.49 + 8.9)%, (15.32+18.17)% and (13.68+16.84)%, respectively (P >0.05 between two groups). In the meantime, the percentages of Annexin V-positive CDS'1' T lymphocytes in control group and in treatment group were (12.72+ 19.69)% and (13.88 + 13.28)%, respectively (P >0.05). Conclusions Low-dose of hydrocortisone could induce CD4+ T lymphocyte apoptosis and has no effects on CD8+ T lymphocyte apoptosis when it is used to treat septic shock.

BACKGROUND:Intravertebral bone graft to rebuild anterior and middle column structure and to recover vertebral morphology has been re-understood, and a suitable bone graft material can promote bone healing and be conducive to rebuild the long-term stability of the spine. OBJECTIVE:To discuss the differences in clinical efficacy of three kinds of bone graft materials through unilateral pedicle to treat thoracolumbar burst fractures. METHODS:Total y 102 thoracolumbar burst fracture patients were randomized into three groups:autologous bone, autologous bone combined with al ogeneic bone and al ogeneic bone were implanted via the unilateral pedicle, respectively, in the three groups. We measured the percentage of height of the anterior edge of vertebral body and Cobb angle by X-Ray before and after bone grafting, and used CT to observe bone graft healing, and used Mimics to measure the defect area of vertebral body at the last fol ow-up. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Al the 102 patients were fol owed-up for 24-36 months. The percentage of height of the anterior edge of vertebral body and Cobb angle of three groups were restored after bone grafting (P<0.05), but there was no difference in the percentage of height of the anterior edge of vertebral body of three groups at different time point after bone grafting. The Cobb angle in the al ogeneic bone group was bigger than that in the autologous bone group and autologous bone combined with al ogeneic bone group at 9, 12 and 24 months after bone grafting (P<0.05). The fracture healing rate of the al ogeneic bone group at different time points was lower than that of the autologous bone group and autologous bone combined with al ogeneic bone group (P<0.05), and the area of bone defect was bigger than that in the autologous bone group and autologous bone combined with al ogeneic bone group (P<0.05). These findings indicate that these three bone graft materials can rebuild the vertebral body via the unilateral pedicle to treat thoracolumbar burst fracture, reduce the loss of vertebral height and Cobb angle, and decrease defect area of the vertebral body. The clinical efficacy of autologous bone combined with al ogeneic bone to heal bone graft and reduce bone defect is similar to autologous bone, both of which are better than al ogeneic bone alone.

Chinese Journal of Analytical Chemistry 2017;45(2):151-156
A valve-free continuous flow method and instrument were established, with only a multi-channel pump for delivering the sample and reagent, and without any injection or solenoid valves and sample loop for selecting and adding the sample or reagent.Nitrate was reduced to nitrite with Cu-Cd reductant column, and then detected with spectrophotometric detector. The proposed method was suitable for determination of nitrate at normal level in most of estuary and coastal seawaters. With the optimum parameters, the linear range and detection limit were 5-180 μmol/L and 0.27 μmol/L,respectively.The samples of 10 and 80 μmol/L nitrate were continually measured for 11 times, and the relative standard deviations were 1.4% and 1.3%,respectively.The recovery of real samples at different salinity ranged between 99.4% and 106.1%.There was no significant difference in the analytical results between the proposed method and the flow injection analysis (FIA).In comparison with FIA,the method and instrument were less cost and easy to operate, and was suitable to be applied in general laboratories and field for continuous monitoring. The method was successfully used to measure the nitrate in seawater samples in Xiamen's Western Harbor and monitor nitrate in Jiulongjiang estuary.

To investigate the diagnosis and surgical treatment of inraspinal tumors.
The clinical data of 246 patients with inraspinal tumors who had undergone operations in the Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University Medical Col ege between January 2010 and January 2013 were retrospectively analyzed. The treatment and prognosis of inraspinal tumors were reviewed.
262 operations were performed, with posterior bilateral laminectomy approach in 202 cases, semi-laminectomy approach in 28 cases, laminoplasty approach in 10 cases, and lateral resection of extra-vertebral canal dumbbel shaped tumors in 22 cases. The short-term remission rate of the nerve root pain reached 95.0%(133/140), and the improvement rates of the sensory disability, motor disturbance, and sphincter dysfunction were 85.6%(125/146), 86.7%( 136/157), and 84.6(11/13) respectively. The ASIA nervous function scores and grades at the last fol ow-up were significantly superior to those before and 3 months after the operation in 236 patients.
Intraspinal tumors are mostly benign. The clinical appearance of them should be watched closely, and thorough physical check-up should be performed. MRI is the examination of choice at early diagnosis. The key to improve the treatment effects is to perform operations as soon as possible.
