Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2),the rate-limited enzyme that converts arachidonic acid into prostaglandin, has been found overexpression in many malignant tumors. The overexpression of COX-2 plays an important role in tumor genesis and progression and is closely associated with tumor prognosis,so this enzyme has become one of the potential therapeutic targets.Experimental studies reveal that selective COX-2 inhibitors can enhance the tumor radiosensitivity through a variety of molecular pathways and have a protective effect for normal tissues.Selective COX-2 inhibitors are promising radiotherapy modifiers and the underlying molecular mechanisms still need to be further studied.

Journal of International Oncology 2015;(7):545-547
Surgical resection is the primary treatment for locally advanced rectal cancer, but the local recurrence rate of surgical resection is still at a high level. Preoperative and postoperative chemoradiotherapy not only decreases the local recurrence rate of surgical resection, but also elevates the survival rate and life quality. Recently, adjuvant chemoradiotherapy has been applied as the standard therapy for locally advanced rectal cancer. The application of targeted drugs, new chemotherapy drugs and rapid changing radiotherapy technology provide more approaches to the treatment of locally advanced rectal cancer.

Objective To detect serum galectin 3 levels in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and explore its clinical significance .Methods The galectin 3 levels the serum of in 38 CKD patients and 34 healthy controls were determined by ELISA . All kidney function was measured by automatic biochemical analyzer .The relation between serum galectin 3 levels and the level of kidney function was analyzed by use of t test .Results The serum galectin 3 levels in CKD and healthy controls groups were (1 .22 ± 1 .01)ng/mL and (3 .03 ± 2 .06)ng/mL ,P<0 .05 .There was close negative correlation between serum levels of galectin 3 and Cr ,CysC(P<0 .05) .Conclusion Serum galectin 3 of CKD patients reduces significantly and correlates with kidney function . Detecting on s galectin 3 is helpful for chronic kidney disease diagnosis and therapeutic effect evaluation .

Objective:To investigate the risk factors for the occurrence and poor in-hospital prognosis in patients with peripartum cardiomyopathy (PPCM).Methods:The clinical data of 35 patients with PPCM and 35 healthy pregnant women in Xuanwu Hospital, Capital Medical University and Beijing Friendship Hospital Affiliated to Capital Medical University from January 2003 to January 2022 were retrospectively analyzed. The personal histories, laboratory examination, imaging examination, cardiac function outcome, etc were collected. According to the left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) at discharge, the patients with PPCM were divided into in-hospital recovery group (LVEF≥50%, 18 cases) and prolonged disease group (LVEF<50%, 17 cases). Multivariate Logistic regression analysis was used to analyze independent risk factors of poor in-hospital prognosis in patients with PPCM.Results:Among 35 patients with PPCM, the age was (29.81 ± 5.37) years old, 17 cases (48.57%) complicated with gestational hypertension, 6 cases (17.14%) complicated with gestational diabetes mellitus, 24 cases (68.57%) of New York Heart Association (NYHA) cardiac function classification was Ⅲ to Ⅳ class, and 4 cases died (11.43%). The gestational age in patients with PPCM was significantly shorter than that in healthy pregnant women: (36.26 ± 4.27) weeks vs. (38.54 ± 4.59) weeks, the rates of multiple pregnancy and gestational hypertension were significantly higher than those in healthy pregnant women: 17.14% (6/35) vs. 2.86% (1/35) and 48.57% (17/35) vs. 11.43% (4/35), and there were statistical differences ( P<0.05 or <0.01). Compared with hospital recovery group, the patients in protracted disease group had shorter gestational age, larger left ventricular end-diastolic diameter, higher serum creatinine, C-reactive protein and amino-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP), worse NYHA cardiac function classification, and there were statistical differences ( P<0.05 or <0.01); but there were no statistical difference in LVEF at the first diagnosis and troponin I between two groups ( P>0.05). Multivariate Logistic regression analysis result showed that elevated creatinine was an independent risk factor for poor in-hospital prognosis in patients with PPCM ( OR = 4.554, 95% CI 1.536 to 13.684, P = 0.018). Conclusions:The gestational hypertension may be a risk factor for PPCM. The gestational hypertension, earlier onset time, enlarged left ventricular end-diastolic diameter, high NT-proBNP, high C-reactive protein, high creatinine and high cardiac function NYHA classification may be risk factors for poor in-hospital prognosis in patients with PPCM; and elevated creatinine is an independent risk factor for poor in-hospital prognosis in patients with PPCM.

【Objective】 To analyze the height growth of children aged 6 - 15 years in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, so as to provide evidence for the assessment of local children′s height development. 【Methods】 A total of 25 225 children aged 6 - 15 years were selected to get their physical examination data from 41 primary schools in Nanning by stratified cluster sampling method in December 2021.Then the height data were compared with the current domestic standards. 【Results】 The average height of boys in Nanning was lower than the national standard before the age of 10 years and 7 months, and the gap with the national standard gradually narrowed after the age of 10 years and 7 months. The average height of boys in Nanning City exceeded the national standard between the age of 11 years and 1 month and 13 years and 6 months, and then lagged behind the national standard again after the age of 13 years and 7 months. The mean height of girls in Nanning City was lower than the national standard height in several age groups, and it was more obvious before the age of 9 years and 7 months. The proportion of height ≤-2s,≤-s,≥ +s and ≥+2s in boys aged 6 to 15 years in Nanning City fluctuated from 2.59% to 6.04%, 12.09% to 23.43%, 7.18% to 18.79% and 0.93% to 3.14%, respectively; the total proportions were 4.56%, 17.46%, 11.35% and 1.74%, respectively; the minimum/maximum proportion values of each height group were at 11 years old /8 years old, 14 years old/8 years old, 8 years old/12 years old, and 6 years old/11 years old, respectively. The proportions of girls aged 6 - 15 years in Nanning City with height ≤-2s, ≤-s, ≥+s, and ≥+2s fluctuated from 2.06% to 5.19%, 9.35% to 25.15%, 8.21% to 15.80% and 1.23% to 3.49%, respectively; the total proportions were 3.38%, 16.91%, 11.97% and 2.29%, respectively; and the minimum/maximum proportion values of each height group were at 13 years old/6 years old, 12 years old/6 years old, 7 years old/12 years old, and 6 years old/11 years old, respectively. 【Conclusions】 The overall height level of children in Nanning is still lower than the national level, with short prepubertal basal heights, an earlier age of onset of accelerated pubertal height, and a shorter duration of accelerated pubertal height in boys. Strengthening pre-pubertal height management and emphasizing the onset and duration of children′s pubertal development, especially the height development of boys during puberty, can help improve the adult lifelong height of children in this region.
