AIM: To investigate the mechanism underlying insulin-stimulated increase in glucose uptake during low-flow myocardial ischemia. METHODS: The expression of myocardial GLUT1 polypeptide was determined by semiquantitative immunoblotting. The expression of GLUT1 mRNA was determined by semiquantitative Northern blotting. RESULTS: After infusing insulin during low- flow myocardial ischemia for 8 h,the expression of both GLUT1 mRNA and GLUT1 polypeptide was significantly higher in experimental myocardium than that in normal myocardium. The glucose uptake was upregulated at the same time in the exprimental myocardium. CONCLUSION: Insulin enhances the expression of GLUT1 mRNA and GLUT1 polypeptide in ischemic myocardial regions. GLUT1 expression may be an important mechanism by which myocardial cells enhance glucose uptake and metabolism during low-flow myocardial ischemia.

Objective To investigate the mechanism for that insulin facilitates increase of glucose uptake. Methods The expression of myocardial GLUT4 polypeptide was determined by semiquantitative immunoblotting. The expression of GLUT4 mRNA was determined by semiquantitative Northern blotting. Results After infusing insulin for 8 hours, the expression of GLUT4 mRNA and GLUT4 polypeptide was significantly higher in canine myocardium than in those found normal ones. The glucose uptake was upregulated at the same time. Conclusions Our findings suggest that insulin facilitates the expression of GLUT4 mRNA and GLUT4 polypeptide in canine hearts. Enhanced GLUT4 expression is one of the important molecular mechanism by which myocardial cells enhance glucose uptake by insulin stimulation.

Chinese Journal of General Practitioners 2018;17(11):950-953
There is a synergistic effect of hypertension combined with diabetes to cardiovascular risk. The blood pressure control is more difficult for hypertensive patients complicated with diabetes, leading to aggravating the vital organs damage (such as heart, brain, kidney). Therefore, blood pressure and blood glucose levels should be simultaneously and effectively controlled. The exercise therapy not only eliminates the risk factors for cardiovascular disease, but also lowers blood pressure and blood sugar, resulting in the reduction of cardiovascular mortality and all-cause mortality. This article reviews the effects of exercise therapy on blood pressure and blood glucose, and provides guidance for hypertensive patients with diabetes mellitus.

OBJECTIVETo observe the effect of Huzhang on the progress of pulmonary fibrosis in rats, evaluate the role of Huzhang in this process and explore its mechanism.
METHODWistar male rats were randomized into 7 groups (normal control group, model group, positive control group, prophylactic group, 3rd day treatment group, 7th day treatment group and 14th day treatment group). Bleomycin was administered by intratracheal injection to produce pulmonary fibrosis groups except the normal control group. The positive control group began to be given DXM (4 mL x kg(-1) x d(-1)) on the day of the model-making. The normal control group and model group were given NS (4 mL x kg(-1) x d(-1)) on the day of the model-making. The prophylactic group was given reagent (4 mL x kg(-1) x d(-1)) 2 days ahead of the model-making, whereas the 3rd day treatment group, the 7th day treatment group and the 14th day treatment group given the same dose respectively on the third day, the seventh day and the fourth day behind of the model-making. Lung tissue was stained with hematoxylin-eosin (HE) and Masson's trichrome to determine the pathological grading. The lung fibroblast (LF) was cultured in vitro by way of pancreatic enzyme digestion, which was used to detect the contents of the expression of MMP-2 and TIMP-1mRNA with RT-PCR method.
RESULTCompared with those in the model group, the alveolitis, pulmonary fibrosis and collagen accumulation were significantly alleviated in the positive control group, Huzhang prophylactic group and each treatment groups. In the positive control group, Huzhang prophylactic group, the 3rd day treatment group, the 7th day treatment group and the 14th day treatment group, the expression of MMP-2 mRNA was weaker significantly than that in the BLM model group (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01) except that on the 42nd day. The expression of TIMP-1mRNA was also weaker significantly than that in the BLM model group at all set times in all treatment groups (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01). The inhibition of TIMP-1 lasted until the 42nd day.
CONCLUSIONHuzhang inhibited the expression of MMP-2mRNA and TIMP-1mRNA of lung fibroblast in different periods to reduce the alveolitis and pulmonary fibrosis, which was probably one of the anti-fulmonary fiborsis mechanisms of Huzhang.

Chinese Journal of School Health 2024;45(2):227-231
Objective:
To explore the influencing factors of role adaptation of college freshmen, so as to provide empirical support for developing adaptive education in college.
Methods:
A cluster sampling method was used to select 3 126 freshmen from six universities of Hefei City and Wuhu City in Anhui Province in October 2022, who were investigated with Positive Psychological Capital Questionnaire (PPQ), Freshmen s Role Adaptability Scale, Connor Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC) and Life Satisfaction Scale. Independent sample t-test and oneway ANOVA were used to compare the scores (caverage score of items) of various variables of college freshmen with different demographic characteristics. Pearson correlation analysis and multiple linear regression analysis were conducted to analyze the correlation.
Results:
There were statistically significant differences in scores of psychological capital, resilience, life satisfaction and role adaptation among college freshmen of different origin (large and mediumsized cities: 3.63± 0.54,3.73±0.64,3.47±0.80,3.14±0.65;county level city or county seat:3.57±0.52,3.61±0.63,3.35±0.75,3.09±0.63;villages and towns:3.50±0.50,3.54±0.58,3.23±0.75,3.06±0.60), whether in class committee (yes:3.63±0.52,3.69±0.60,3.40± 0.76 ,3.18±0.59; no:3.43±0.50,3.48±0.64,3.25±0.77,2.93±0.65), father s education level (junior high school or below:3.52± 0.51 ,3.57±0.61,3.27±0.75,3.07±0.61; senior high school or technical secondary school:3.62±0.53,3.68±0.63,3.44±0.78,3.12±0.63;junior college or above:3.68±0.56,3.78±0.64,3.57±0.80,3.19±0.68),mother s education level(junior high school or below:3.53±0.51,3.58±0.61,3.28±0.75,3.06±0.60;senior high school or technical secondary school:3.63±0.55,3.70±0.63,3.48±0.78,3.15±0.66;junior college or above:3.72±0.54,3.86±0.65,3.62±0.83,3.27±0.70) ( F / t =11.89,21.89,23.02,3.83;10.08,9.20, 5.20 ,10.63;19.34,20.76,29.52,6.44;22.51,26.79,30.94,13.92, P <0.05). Journal of Central South University(Medical Sciences) 2023;48(5):641-647
OBJECTIVES:
Application of ultrashort wave (USW) to rats with cerebral ischemia and reperfusion injury could inhibit the decrease of expression of secretory pathway Ca2+-ATPase 1 (SPCA1), an important participant in Golgi stress, reduce the damage of Golgi apparatus and the apoptosis of neuronal cells, thereby alleviating cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury. This study aims to investigate the effect of USW on oxygen-glucose deprivation/reperfusion (OGD/R) injury and the expression of SPCA1 at the cellular level.
METHODS:
N2a cells were randomly divided into a control (Con) group, an OGD/R group, and an USW group. The cells in the Con group were cultured without exposure to OGD. The cells in the OGD/R group were treated with OGD/R. The cells in the USW group were treated with USW after OGD/R. Cell morphology was observed under the inverted phase-contrast optical microscope, cell activity was detected by cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8), apoptosis was detected by flow cytometry, and SPCA1 expression was detected by Western blotting.
RESULTS:
Most of the cells in the Con group showed spindle shape with a clear outline and good adhesion. In the OGD/R group, cells were wrinkled, with blurred outline, poor adhesion, and lots of suspended dead cells appeared; compared with the OGD/R group, the cell morphology and adherence were improved, with clearer outlines and fewer dead cells in the USW group. Compared with the Con group, the OGD/R group showed decreased cell activity, increased apoptotic rate, and down-regulating SPCA1 expression with significant differences (all P<0.001); compared with the OGD/R group, the USW group showed increased cell activity, decreased apoptotic rate, and up-regulating SPCA1 expression with significant differences (P<0.01 or P<0.001).
CONCLUSIONS
USW alleviates the injury of cellular OGD/R, and its protective effect may be related to its up-regulation of SPCA1 expression.
