Objective To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of liraglutide for obesity or overweight. Methods Random controlled trials of liraglutide for obesity or overweight were gathered from MEDLINE, EMbase, CENTRAL, CNKI, VIP and WanFang. We screened the retrieved studies according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, evaluated the quality of included studies, and then performed meta-analyses with The Cochrane Collaboration's Revman 5. 3. 0 software. Results Twelve randomized controlled trials of liraglutide for obesity or overweight were included, in which 11 trials were written in English and one trial in Chinese. The results of meta-analyses showed that the body weight was significantly reduced in the liraglutide group than in placebo, insulin, exenatide and glimepiride groups [RR=-0. 91,95%CI(-1. 01,-0. 81),P<0. 000 01;RR=-2. 88,95%CI(-3. 37,-2. 39),P<0. 000 01; RR=-1. 12,95%CI(-1. 32,-0. 92),P<0. 000 01; RR=0. 45,95%CI(-0. 62,-0. 27),P<0. 000 01]. Moreover, liraglutide had significant effect in decreasing HbA1c and systolic blood pressure of patients with obesity or overweight. Conclusion Liraglutide is effective for controlling body weight of patients with obesity or overweight. But its long-term efficacy still needs to be confirmed by performing more RCTs with high quality, large sample and long term follow-up.

Objective To detect the expression of AKT2 in human colon cancer and understand its relationship with PTEN.Methods The expressions of AKT2 and PTEN were detected in 30 patients with normal colonic tissues,30 patients with colon adenoma tissues, and 64 patients with colon carcinoma tissues by immunohistochemical SP staining method. Results The positive expressive rate of PTEN presented a trend of progressive decrease from normal tissues, adenoma tissues to colon carcinoma tissues, while the positive expression rate of AKT2 presented a trend of progressive increase.PTEN expression was obviously higher in normal colon tissues than in colon adenoma tissues and colon cancer tissues(?2=68.855,P

Journal of Clinical Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery 2009;23(12):542-545
OBJECTIVE:
To evaluate effects of septoplasty on bilateral nasal cavities with acoustic rhinometry and rhinomanometry objectively.
METHOD:
Twenty-two patients who underwent septoplasty were examined with rhinomanometry and acoustic rhinometry before and 6 to 12 months after surgery. Of the 22 patients, 1 patient whose rhinomanometry and acoustic rhinometry datum were not available for the bilateral nasal obstruction, 3 patients with bilateral turbinectomy and 2 patients with unilateral turbinectomy wide nasal cavities were excluded. Finally, 18 narrow side nasal cavities and 16 wide side nasal cavities were analyzed.
RESULT:
Rhinomanometry: nasal resistance on the deviation side decreased significantly (P < 0.05), whereas on the contralateral side decreased slightly (P > 0.05). Acoustic Rhinometry: the predecongestion nasal minimal cross-sectional area (NMCA) and 0-5 cm NCV on the deviation side increased significantly due to the operation (P < 0.01). The corresponding postdecongestion increased were the same. Whereas on the contralateral side NMCA decreased and 0-5 cm NCV increased slightly before decongestion and after decongestion (P > 0.05). Only slight median increases were noted in the bilateral assessment postoperatively in NCV (P > 0.05) before and (P < 0.05) after decongestion.
CONCLUSION
The nasal patency on the deviation side is undoubtedly increased after septoplasty, and the airway on the wide side is not worsened after the operation.
