Objective To investigate the different characters between conventional frequency audiometry (125 Hz~8 kKHz) and high frequency audiometry (9~16 kHz)in the normal youth and provide the references for the clinical application of the HFA.Methods 52 male and 48 female normal-hearing subjects were tested with both conventional-frequency (0.25~8 kHz) and high-frequency (10~18 kHz) audiometry. Results Data showed that no difference between male and female in different frequencies. However, the threshold of HFA went up gradually with the frequency increasing. The average threshold of HFA was significantly higher than that of CFA and speech frequency (SFA) and had a positive correlation with both CFA and SFA. Conclusion The results of this study suggest that HFA might be used as an early indicator for CFA and SFA hearing loss resulting from acoustic trauma, ototoxicity and presbycusis.

The origin, pattern, caliber, projection on the body surface and anastomoses of the cutaneous arteries within the lateral thoracic flap have been studied in 33 cases (sides): adults- 30 cases, children- 3 cases. The chief results are as follows:1. Four types of cutaneous arterial supply within this flap be divided according to the number of branches: one branched type(51.51%?8.70), two branched type(27.27%?7.75), three branched type(15.15%?6.24), four branched type(6.06%?4.15).2. Lateral thoracic cutaneous arteries may arise from one to four of the brachial, lateral thoracic, axillary, dorsal thoracic, subscapular or thoraco-acromial arteries. The caliber of their origin varies between 1.23~1.75mm. The thoracoepigastric vein which drains blood into the lateral thoracic vein may be regarded as the main cutaneous vein in the flap area. The caliber of its end is 3.35?0.42 mm. This vein provided with valves.3. There are plenty of cutaneous arterial anastomoses within the lateral thoracic flap. In the radiograph the networks of blood vessels may be seen among the branches of the cutaneous arteries. These networks are distributed over the whole flap.4. The blood vessels of the lateral thoracic flap and its application have been discussed and the position of skin incisions and landmark of the cutaneous arteries been proposed in the article.

The relation between molar attrition and age was studied in 208 skulls Chinese male of cadavers from the Liaoning province. The ages of these cadavers range from 15 to 61 years. The total number of teeth studied are: 658 first molars and 601 second molars. The degree of attrition was divided into six grades. Results may be summarized as follows:1. The degree of molar attrition increases with age.2. The second molar is less attrited thanthe first one in the same jaw be'cause it crupts later, and the age ratio (in years) between M_1 and M_2 is about 6:7.3. The degree of molar attrition on both sides and both jaws is symmetrical in 63?1.9%, but no general rule can be found.4. A regressive equation of molar attrition has been obtained.

Objective To explore the correlation between the enhancement pattern of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) on contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) and its tumor differentiation on histopathology. Methods HCC lesions (n=259) from 224 patients were retrospectively evaluated with CEUS and histopathological examination. CEUS was performed with SonoVue. The characteristics of blood perfusion and parameters of the time-intensity curve (TIC) were analyzed by ACQ soft?ware. Histopathological diagnoses were decided base on Edmonson grading system. Results Pathologic grading of HCC was not related to the arrival time(P>0.05);The washing-out time point and the enhancement time point and peak time point all appeared earlier in poorly differentiated HCC group, than those in moderately differentiated HCC group than those in well differentiated HCC group(P<0.01);The enhancement time point and the expurgation time point are shorter in poorly differ?entiated HCC group than those in moderately differentiated HCC group than those in well differentiated HCC group. All dif?ferences were with statistical significance. The mode of arterial perfusion in early stage was divided into 3 types:spider web type, radiative type and mixed type. The well differentiated HCC group mainly presented as radiative type ( 28/49, 47.14%). But the most of poorly differentiated HCC group mainly present as spider web type(88/127, 69.29%). The mix type was more common in moderately differentiated HCC group(49/83, 59.03%). Conclusion CEUS show different features of TIC pa?rameters and blood perfusion in different pathological stages of HCC lesions so it can serve as a method to assess the biologi?cal behavior of hepatocellular carcinoma.

Journal of Acupuncture and Tuina Science 2004;2(6):29-31
The clinical effect on treatment of diabetic retinopathy with acupuncture plus herbal decoction has been observed. Eighty cases were randomly divided into treatment group and control group by the odd and even serial numbers. Forty cases in the treatment group were treated with needling Taiyang (Ex-HN 5), Yangbai (GB 14) toward Yuyao (Ex-HN 4) and Cuanzhu (BL 2) plus the herbal decoction called Mingmu Wuzi Decoction. Forty cases in the control group were treated with intravenous drip of Venorutin and oral administration of dipyridamole and vitamin E. And the result showed the total effective rate of 92.5% in the treatment group and that of 55.0% in the control group with significant difference (P<0.01), which suggested that acupuncture plus herbal decoction had better therapeutic effect than western medications alone.
