Percutaneous sacroplasty is a technique, derived from percutaneous vertebroplasty, with minimal invasion and better safety for refractory sacroiliac pain. The procedure is involved with bone cement injected into the diseased sacral body under fluoroscopic or computed tomography guidance and in turn for stabilizing and strengthening the vertebral body with outcome of decrease or even complete relief of pain. The author introduces and comprehends the definition, preoperative imaging examinations, indications, contraindications, techniques and complications of the procedure.

Objective To evaluate the long- term results of intracystic corticosteroid injection for the treatment of simple bone cysts. Methods Seventy- six children with simple bone cysts treated by intracystic injection of corticosteroid from 1985 to 1995 were followed- up for an average of 8.2 years( 5- 13 years) . Forty- one of the cysts were situated at the proximal end of the humerus, 20 at the proximal end of the femur and 15 at other sites. The mean injection times were 4.2(2- 13 times). Results Forty- two(55.3% ) cysts were healed up completely, 16(21.1% ) basically healed up, 9(11.8% ) healed up partially and 9(11.8% ) failures. Satisfactory and effective rate was 76.4% and 88.2% respectively. Conclusion Intracystic corticosteroid injection appears to be the initial choice of treatment for simple bone cysts, because it is an effective, and non- invasive method which can be carried out easily.

Clinically,heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT) is an uncommon but serious disease, which is induced by the use of immune unfractionated heparin or low-molecular-weight heparin. The overall incidence of HIT is about 0.6%-5.0%.Nevertheless,in clinical practice it is profoundly dangerous, especially for patients who are receiving cardiovascular surgery or interventional therapy. At present,HIT is a hot clinical research subject. This paper aims to make a brief review about HIT pathogenesis, epidemiology, clinical evaluation and treatment, etc.

Objective To investigate whether baicalein inhibits the proliferation, cell cycle of and pseudopod formation in A431, a skin squamous cell carcinoma cell line, by suppressing the expression of ezrin protein. Methods A431 cells were grouped to be transfected with ezrin-targeting siRNA (siRNA group), treated with baicalein of 5, 10, 20, 40 μmol/L, respectively (baicalein group), or remain untreated (control group). After additional culture, wound healing assay and Transwell assay were performed to observe the migration and invasion of A431 cells, RT-PCR to detect the mRNA expression of ezrin in A431 cells, Western blot and immunoflu-orescence to measure the expression of ezrin protein and its phosphorylation. The pseudopod formation in A431 cells was observed by using scanning electron microscopy. Results After 24-hour culture, wound healing assay displayed that the percent wound closure was 13.3 ± 1.7, 7.6 ±1.6 and 5.9 ± 1.3, respectively, in A431 cells treated with baicalein of 5, 10, 20μmol/L, significantly lower than that in untreated A431 cells (16.3 ± 2.3, all P < 0.01), and the inhibition of baicalein on the migration of A431 cells was concentration-dependent. In the Transwell assay, a significant decrease was observed in the number of A431 cells per high power field permeating through the artificial basement membrane in the groups treated with baicalein of 5, 10, 20 μmol/L for 48 hours compared with the control group (46.5 ± 3.8, 34.3 ± 3.4, 25.3 ± 2.3 vs 56.3 ± 3.8, all P < 0.01), whereas no significant difference was noted between these baicalein-treated groups and siRNA-transfected group (28.3 ± 2.1, all P > 0.05). RT-PCR analysis showed that the mRNA expression of ezrin in baicalein-treated A431 cells significantly decreased compared with that in untreated cells (all P< 0.01), but showed no difference from that in siRNA group (P > 0.05). A statistical difference was also observed in the expression of ezrin and phosphorylated ezrin protein between baicalein-treated A431 cells and untreated cells (all P< 0.05), but not between 40 μmol/L baicalein-treated A431 cells and siRNA-transfected cells (P> 0.05). Furthermore, the suppression of baicalein on ezrin protein and mRNA expression was concentration dependent. The number of pseudopod per cell was significantly lower in 20 μmol/L baicalein-treated A431 cells and siRNA-transfected cells than that in untreated A431 cells (5.3 ± 1.9, 4.5 ± 2.8 vs 22.6 ± 2.8, both P < 0.01), while no significant difference was observed between the former two groups of cells (P > 0.05); the length of pseudopodia also reduced in baicalein-treated cells. Conclusions Baicalein may inhibit the proliferation and invasion of A431 cells by directly or indirectly suppressing the expression of ezrin and phosphorylated ezrin, which in turn contributes to the effect of baicalein against tumor proliferation and metastasis.

Objective To investigate the effect of comprehensive treatment in the treatment of knee osteoar-thritis by taking orally and external Chinese medicine with ozone injected the joint cavity. Methods 834 patients with knee osteoarthritis(1 212 knee joints)were randomly selected, after two courses of the comprehensive treatment, with excellent, good, fair and bad four levels to evaluate the therapeutic effect. Results After two courses of comprehensive treatment,534 cases were excellent,461 cases were good,181 cases were fair,36 cases were bad,the fine rate was 82.1%.Conclusion The comprehensive treatment is an effective method in knee osteoarthritis by taking orally and external Chinese medicine with ozone injected the joint cavity.

Purpose To observe the characteristics of coronary artery lesion in patients with unstable angina pectoris (UAP) and stable angina pectoris (SAP) using virtual histology intravascular ultrasound (IVUS-VH).Materials and Methods A total of 199 patients with angina pectoris were enrolled and divided into SAP group (101 cases) and UAP group (98 cases) according to clinical symptoms, ECG and myocardial enzyme level. All the patients underwent coronary angiography to determine the criminals vessels, grayscale intravascular ultrasound was used to measure and compare the external elastic membrane area (EEMA), lumen cross-sectional area (lumen CSA), plaque area (PA), plaque burden (PB), remodeling index (RI), plaque eccentricity index (EI) of the criminals vessels. IVUS-VH method was used to measure and compare the area and percentage of calcified tissue, fibrous tissue, lipid tissue and necrotic tissue in the plague components of the criminals vessels between the two groups. Results There was no significant difference (t=1.392,-0.345, 1.921, 0.378 and 0.857,P>0.05) of EEMA, lumen CSA, PA, EI and RI measured at the location with smallest lumen area between the two groups. Necrotic core area and percentage of lesion composition in UAP group was significantly higher than that in SAP group (t=2.361,P<0.05). There was no statistically significant difference (t=1.045, 1.884 and 0.787,P>0.05) between the two groups on the area of fiber, lipid and calcification. On the distribution of plaque components, fibrous plaque area percentage of UAP group was lower than that in SAP group (t=-2.418, P<0.05), while the necrotic core area was significantly higher than SAP group (t=2.602, P<0.05), there was no significant difference (t=-0.551 and 0.085,P>0.05) between the two groups on lipid and calcification area. Conclusion Necrotic core area and percentage of plaque composition in the UAP group is larger than the other group. Criminals lesions are more unstable and more easily to be complicated with acute cardiovascular events.
